I am LOVING it. And I'm quoting a picture, something I don't often do, just to get in on top of the new page.Raphael wrote:In celebration of Phantom las Vegas company's 5th anniversary coming up this Friday, I'll be posting one pic a day exclusively from their anniversary gift, a high school yearbook parody. Here's #1, a group shot from the masquerade-themed senior prom:

PLV 5th Anniversary day 4: Because the Phantom was always a rocker at heart. And you know Giry had a wild side...
Did I mention that this is not only a tribute to 5 years of PLV but also a celebration of 25 years of Phantom?

Re: Las Vegas Production
So are you doing 20 more between now and October?
I'd love to know how you did the shadows of the ballerinas on the rooftop. Love the backgrounds in the other shots as well.

Re: Las Vegas Production
Sorry, actually what I meant was that the 5th Anniversary yearbook references not only events from the past five years of that particular company, but also the past 25 years of the show as a whole (in addition to little nods to the books, films, and other stage versions of the story) - 96 pages is a lot of content.SenorSwanky wrote:So are you doing 20 more between now and October?
I'm trying to put something together to celebrate Phantom's 25th anniversary, but it's still in the early stages

PLV 5th Anniversary countdown Day 1 (the REAL 5th Anniversary): I present to you... the COVER!
I know I'm gonna get a lot of flack for naming the school after the Las Vegas auditorium's designer David Rockwell instead of Phantom creator Gaston Leroux, but if I had, I wouldn't have been able to plaster the letter "R" all over the place! Besides, Leroux does make a couple of appearances in the book itself as a member of the faculty, so its not like I completely ignored him

Just got back from the REAL 5th anniversary performance (as well as seeing the "official" one last night). Both were great shows and unfortunately, that's all you'll hear about them since it looks like I won't be posting any more reviews since the ones scheduled ahead of me just don't seem to becoming Oh well...

No review? Dislike.
Re: Las Vegas Production
Fantastic work, as usual. What a treasure for the Vegas production to receive!
Re: Las Vegas Production
Man.. and I was just in Vegas yesterday. Wish I could've saw Phantom while I was there. ): But Congrats!
Re: Las Vegas Production
SylentPhantom, IamErik771 and I just returned from Vegas. We saw the show twice (heard it a third time, while waiting to give Anthony a present before he arrived.)
The first night we saw SARAH ELIZABETH COMBS as Christine with Anthony Crivello, we had a interesting exchange of Carlottas for Joan Sobel was caught in traffic so her understudy JOAN SOBEL went on, and then ARSENIA SOTO came in during Notes and sang the rest of the show. Perfect show. Wonderful cast. Wonderful everything.
Second Night: We waited for Anthony outside the theater as we had a gift for him and we had gotten tickets to the later show, but we werent sure if he was going to be back or not, so IamErik and I sat talking with some of the ushers while listening to Sarah and Michael Lackey sing, we heard the entire show in the lobby, was incredible. I had seen Lackey play Phantom in San Diego long ago, he is more wonderful than I remembered. When Anthony came up, He informed us he wasn't sure which Christine he was performing with tonight, IamErik wanted to see Hertzenberg, I did too, as she was my first Vegas Christine. Since this performance was on Sylent's birthday, and Anthony knew this, he took the time to wish her a happy birthday which was very sweet of him. since we had the V.I.P experience tickets, We knew we would have to be quick to get Anthony and Kristen their presents, but more on that later. When I bought the tickets, I had neglected (on purpose) to tell IamErik that we would be sitting directly underneath the chandelier. Let's just say, If I could turn back time, to hear that scream from him again, I so would. The performance was the best I had seen yet, and I cannot wait to go back.
A more full review coming.

Ah, so we were doing two Monday with Sarah and Lackey on first show and Sarah and Tony on for the second with Joan calling out after Hanibal and Arsenia going in from Managers through the end. Then Tuesday was Kristen and Tony on for the single show day with Joan back.

Re: Las Vegas Production
I am a great phan of Ian Jon Bourg. Does anybody knows if he actually is in the cast of the Phantom Las Vegas?
Thanks in advance for an answer.

Musicalfan, Ian Jon Bourg *is* in the cast of Phantom Las Vegas. He is listed as "Flunky/Stagehand" in the program, and is also an understudy for the Phantom. I saw Ian Jon Bourg as The Phantom this Wednesday evening, July 13, and I became an instant phan of his! Wow, what a performance, and what a great operatic sounding voice! Have you seen Ian as Phantom before?

How come no-one has posted this awesome, yet somewhat funny, Vegas photo yet?

I noticed a Facebook page by a fan who is trying to get "likes" to show that there is a good demand for another Fans Week. Whether it would make a difference or not I have no idea but here's the page if people want to support it. We Want Another Fans Week

Re: Las Vegas Production
Quick question: what are the cuts, if any, to score and script in this production? I already know the chandelier drop is moved to what is traditionally Act Two, and Raoul winds up in a cage instead of dangling from a Punjab lasso, and the Buquet number is gone, but I'd like to know the rest.
Re: Las Vegas Production
There are lines here and there, just small cuts, done to half of the songs. A bit of the Auction and Hannibal, in STYDI, a bit of the Il Muto ballet etc etc. Masquerade and Notes II/Twisted is also shortened. The most dramatic cut is PONR, which basically have merged the Phantom's and Christine's solo parts into one. That's the only cut I wildly disapprove of, they have no time to nourish the tension the original has. The other cuts are not very noticeable, I think.providerofgoods wrote:Quick question: what are the cuts, if any, to score and script in this production? The orchestra is bigger and (I think) fuller sounding. Especially during the Overture.
There's also other minor changes in the staging and design, apart from the obvious (that the musical is performed in a specially built theatre with a beautiful auditorium):
