Re: Las Vegas Production
They are both excellent Christines. My favorite is Kristen but I don't think I could actually say one is better than the other. It just comes down to personal preference and how I like to see the character interpreted.

Re: Las Vegas Production
I really thought they were both terrific. I wish I could have seen Kristen more so I could make a better judgement. (I only saw her once, and I saw Kristi four times.)
Re: Las Vegas Production
Haven't seen Hertzenberg, but I have to admit that I really liked Kristi Holden when I saw the Vegas production two years ago. And that's definitely saying something since a) for some reason it's terribly difficult for any Christine to please me, not sure why**; and b) until Kristi Holden there wasn't really a single American Christine whose performance I particularly liked. But I thought Ms Holden did an excellent job.

Re: Las Vegas Production
I feel that Kristi was better. But that may be due to the fact that I only saw Kristen once on the first night and i was still mentally adjusting to the changes to the show.
Re: Las Vegas Production
Any way you cut it, you'll be seeing a great cast, Callie. As far as Kristen and Kristi go, I'd say your enjoyment depends on what kind of Christine you like to see. Kristi has a very lovely voice and Kristen bring more to the character from an acting perspective.
Your chances of seeing Kristi are much higher, of course, since she plays 6 out of 8 performances a week.

Well I do prefer when actresses bring more acting to the role. I like when Christine has a lot of personality rather than just a pretty voice

Re: Las Vegas Production
That's such a wonderful interview, thanks for sharing, and great job Brianne!
I'll be seeing the show in about 4-5 weeks, Seats 3 and 4 row B. I know it's really close, but that's what came up when I ordered the tickets, and I ordered them weeks ago. Anyway, since I'm sitting so close are there any little details I should look for? I saw the Phantom Tour 3 times in Toronto, and I figured out what to look for there, but I considered since this was such a different beast from the tour I might as well ask.

Don't blink or you'll miss something?Christine's Shadow wrote:Anyway, since I'm sitting so close are there any little details I should look for?
Actually, Since you're sitting close, you'll have to remember to look back towards the center of the auditorium a few times during the show to see the chandelier stuff (the assembly, the crash, and one moment during Il Muto). So other than that, and the "Eternal Audience" sitting in the boxes around you, most of the physical details aren't significantly different.

You'll have to look back more in Vegas than you do on the tour. Quite a bit more. Particularly for that moment in Il Muto that Raphael mentioned...Christine's Shadow wrote:Actually, Since you're sitting close, you'll have to remember to look back towards the center of the auditorium a few times during the show to see the chandelier stuff (the assembly, the crash, and one moment during Il Muto). Here's a new article on Vegas.com about the Las Vegas makeup application. Lots of good photos. It also includes info on The Lion King, KA and some other shows.

Re: Las Vegas Production
Neat article! I'd love to see the show in Vegas... Preferably several times, with Anthony and his understudies. I guess I'd better start saving those pennies, eh?
Re: Las Vegas Production
According to the Venetian's Facebook page, Phantom - The Las Vegas Spectacular celebrated its 1500th show tonight. Way to go!!!
Now that I look at my clock, I guess they're right in the middle of the show as I type this.

Re: Las Vegas Production
This was just brought up in the London production topic. In Vegas how does Christine make her entrance? Doesn't she come out with all the ballerinas and does she dance on pointe???? I know Elizabeth Loyacano did.

Yes, Christine does come out with the other ballerinas in Hannibal. She wears pointe shoes, but not all of them go up on pointe.

Re: Las Vegas Production
don't mind my ignorance if this has already been posted (or was posted over at POL) but poking around the Las Vegas Site, Anthony is the only Phantom listed. Has Las Vegas gone back to the old cast list (1 phantom, principal and alternate Christines) or is there a new Phantom being casted? and is the Christine schedule still evenly split or is it (again) back to Alternate taking matinees and when the Principal Christine is unavailable (before turning to the understudies)

Re: Las Vegas Production
We have been at the one Phantom, 'Principal' Christine, Alternate Christine and one Carlotta for over a year now. We started with so many actors, because when we opened, we had 10 shows a week. We are now down to the usual 8 shows a week and don't need that many actors. We don't have matinees, so 'PC' takes 6 shows a week and 'AC' gets Wednesday and Thursday. I'm not really up on the way things work if 'PC' calls in, but I would assume that 'AC' gets the call before the Understudy does.Christine's Shadow wrote:don't mind my ignorance if this has already been posted (or was posted over at POL) but poking around the Las Vegas Site, Anthony is the only Phantom listed. Brent Barrett left the show on June 6, 2008, and since then Anthony has been the only Phantom.Christine's Shadow wrote:don't mind my ignorance if this has already been posted (or was posted over at POL) but poking around the Las Vegas Site, Anthony is the only Phantom listed.
