There are lines here and there, just small cuts, done to half of the songs. A bit of the Auction and Hannibal, in STYDI, a bit of the Il Muto ballet etc etc. Masquerade and Notes II/Twisted is also shortened. The most dramatic cut is PONR, which basically have merged the Phantom's and Christine's solo parts into one. That's the only cut I wildly disapprove of, they have no time to nourish the tension the original has. The other cuts are not very noticeable, I think.
This is a good starting point, but does anybody have a more complete list so I can follow where in the libretto the cuts were made?
Re: Las Vegas Production
I haven't seen any such libretto online, but if there are specific numbers you're wondering about, I'm sure one or several here could help you out. Easier to answer on a specific question (I.E. specific number) than the whole show.
And when I read what I initially wrote, it sounded a bit negative towards the Vegas production. It was not my intention. I'm dying to see it live! I don't like the chopped PONR and the Il Muto set, but on the other hand I love the extended boat scene set and the "new" mirrors in Angel of Music and MOTN. And the costumes are the same beautiful ones as Broadway.

I've never come across the revised libretto either. Like Anéa said, there are numerous little trims here and there throughout the entire show.operafantomet wrote:I haven't seen any such libretto online, but if there are specific numbers you're wondering about, I'm sure one or several here could help you out. Yes, I am insanely jealous! But also very proud that one of "us" won. Congrats, and share all the dirty details with us.
Re: Las Vegas Production
MAJOR congrats to you ArtistKae. This is going to be such an awesome trip!!!
Congrats also to Anéa on winning one of the secondary prizes.

Just when I was about to give up on anything official when it came to Phantom, this was delivered at my door:
A signed photo, a flyer and a Phantom portfolio, from the Vegas production. I'm looooving it!

Indeed, very nice little treasure there!
Does anyone know if the Vegas brochure on the website is still the one featuring Sierra Boggess?

Yes, the Las Vegas souvenir brochure is still the one featuring the original Las Vegas cast. It hasn't changed since the show opened.

Hey all!
For those who have had the backstage tour at the venetian, what exactly happens and how long is it? I have been around her majesty's before, but I assume it is very different at Vegas, especially as they are actually for sale in vegas. Also, is it true that you get the deformity?

Re: Las Vegas Production
For anyone who hasn't been on the Vegas VIP Tour and doesn't want spoilers...don't read my post.
If you buy the VIP package you are greeted at your seat before the show and are given a Phantom Las Vegas brochure.
After the show you meet up with your guide(s) and wait while the rest of the audience leaves. You'll see the chandelier being brought down into its recharge position (you don't get to go right up to it). You'll also see them resetting some things on stage like the Opera House piece(unique to Vegas). Once the non VIP package audience members are gone you are free to take as many pics in the theatre as you'd like.
You'll then go backstage to the makeup room meet whomever is on as the Phantom that evening. Sometimes you hit it just right and he's still got most of the deformity on and you get a great close up view(and are allowed pics but at that close a proximity and in such a small room, may be wise not to use a flash). Other times by the time we got down to the makeup room the "Phantom" was pretty much already out of his makeup. If he is not needed elsewhere, he will take time to speak with folks to answer questions, he'll sign your brochure and pose for a pic with you. As for the deformity, I have seen some times where someone was chosen at random to get the one used that evening. Other times though the actor just put it in his pocket and took it with him.
You'll normally get to see the wig room and you're allowed pics in there, the same with below the stage where the candles and lot of technical things are. You finish by going back onstage and get a tour of it and you can see some of the larger prop items hanging above you where they are stored after the show. You can also see the Masquerade staircase and the times I went you were allowed to stand on it. It's a bit of a awkward spot for a photo though because it's directly behind a heavy curtain so there's not much room for someone to stand and take a pic for you.
The guides are a lot of fun and make sure everyone enjoys the tour. They have a lot of stories to tell and give a lot of technical info.

Awsome masqphan! I hope I will be able to get down to Vegas for this at some point. Out of interest, I heard someone say that they had seen Ian Jon Bourg and Ted Keegen in Vegas. I didn't think that they had done Vegas before, I thought it was just Barratt and Crivello. I might be wrong about all the above though. Wouldn't be a first time!

Re: Las Vegas Production
I know at least IJB is understudying the Phantom. I would assume the same is the case with Ted Keegan. Vegas originally had two Phantoms sharing the role (Brent Barrett/Anthony Crivello). After Barrett left, Crivello has been the only principal Phantom in Vegas, though I know another understudy - Michael Lackey - has a couple of performances under his belt as well.thephanfullerton wrote:Awsome masqphan! That's correct. Both Ted Keegan and Ian Jon Bourg have understudied the Phantom in Vegas (IJB still does, along with Michael Lackey). Crivello remains the principal Phantom.operafantomet wrote:I know at least IJB is understudying the Phantom. I would assume the same is the case with Ted Keegan. Sweet! Will have to steal a TV somewhere in the house to watch when the time comes. Oooh, and they're interviewing Kristen Hertzenberg! I adore her Christine, so that'll be nice.
Thanks for the heads-up, Raph!

I'm guessing this is just on the regional Vegas PBS and not nationwide? If it is, I hope someone tapes it. Wait, does anyone still "tape" TV anymore? lol

Yeah I waited for end of HMS Pinafore here (Pennsylvania) and it showed some random commercials and went straight to some political talk show.
I really hope Vegas PBS posts it online.

What the heck? Last night I posted to the Phantom Las Vegas Facebook about the PBS special feature on the Vegas show and asked for clarification if it was only going to be shown locally or if it would be available to other PBS stations. My post is no longer there and they didn't answer my question either. Grrr.

Re: Las Vegas Production
Might be some FB glitch. Lots of posts on walls has come and gone the last week. When I follow the link from my profile (telling I posted something on someone's page), it shows up. But when I go directly to a page, my posts aren't always there. Very bizarre... But probably related to them launching the TimeLine formate, so the system is kinda wonky?Madame Giry wrote:What the heck? Oh wait, I'm a doofus. I followed operafantomet's instructions and she's partially right. The other problem was that when you go to the Phantom Vegas page directly, it automatically sets you up so that you only see the official messages sent out by the page owner. You have to click on this little link 'Everyone (most recent)' under the photo bar up top to see what other FB users have posted.
Strange.

Yup. The UK official Phantom page does the same thing. I think NY Phantom still defaults to everyone.Madame Giry wrote:Oh wait, I'm a doofus.
