Re: POTO stuff on eBay
Ah, OK. Then I hope you get a really, REALLY good price for them... And thank you for letting me use photos. The size of the current ones is quite OK, if they're too big FB resize them anyway.
Re: POTO stuff on eBay
If you're local (I just don't know what local means...New York, maybe?) and have $1500 to spare, you can be the owner of the Phantom's organ:

There are lots of close up photos. Very lovey, too.

Re: POTO stuff on eBay
And this is the Catch 22 with my job....I've got the $$$$, but I'd have to get it shipped versus pick it up like the seller wants. Figures....

I want. Now. My roommate said he wanted to get an organ for our music room.
Yes, someone save those pics for reference.
My question: how did this guy get this, and when did they replace the organ on Broadway?

Want...want...want...want...want...want...
WANT!!!!
I actually have the room for this...the footprint of the Broadway organ is just about the same size as the bay window in my bedroom. And I have someone who might be able to transport it for me...
But I don't have the extra money for it at the moment...I'm overly-committed to a couple of projects and there's no way I could work this in.
That said, I'd love it...and I'd love to see the look on my partner's face if he saw it. He'd think I'd officially lost my mind.

Re: POTO stuff on eBay
Ooo There's already a bid on it. I hope it's from someone here!
I have just shown my husband this auction. besides a slap of his head, and this look: he reminded me of an episode of The Big Bang Theory which we just watched where Leonard wins an auction for an authentic mini time machine from the movie. He and his friends pitch in and say they'll just move it around from home to home, as a 'time share.' Then the thing ended up to be bigger than they expected. And hilarity ensues

Or to quote your immortal words to one of the Danish Phantoms:Phantomlove wrote:WANT!
"You have this organ.... and I've played this organ...."
But seriously, I'm so surprised an item like this shows up on eBay. I wish the seller would tell a bit more about how it came into their possession. It doesn't look all that worn out, does it? But it definitely looks authentic, with those switches and glued candles and stuff.
Re: POTO stuff on eBay
WOW.....I so wonder how that person got his/her hands on that organ. If I had the money, the space and lived in the US I would so go for it! Hope it will find a nice home.
Re: POTO stuff on eBay
Was anyone else wary of him saying he'd accept a $250 PayPal deposit? I sure as hell wouldn't make that deposit. Hope it's optional.
Re: POTO stuff on eBay
I think that is a fair deal? I know that I would prefer to pay a small amount as deposit, through PayPal (where you're as a customer is fairly protected) and pay the rest at pickup, than paying the whole sum in advance.SenorSwanky wrote:Was anyone else wary of him saying he'd accept a $250 PayPal deposit? I know the third option would be to pay everything at pickup, but I can see how the seller want some assurance that the deal is going through, that the winner don't back out in the last minute.
Or maybe I'm naïve.
Re: POTO stuff on eBay
He responded to me that he's actually selling it for someone else. The $250 deposit looks like a good faith thing, with the remaining balance due on pick up. Kind of interesting though....I can understand not wanting the whole payment via paypal. This way they don't get their 2% fee on the final price. Good eye on the deposit thing though, Swanky.

Re: POTO stuff on eBay
I suppose you'd get your money back from PayPal but it'd be a hassle to make a claim and all.
Re: POTO stuff on eBay
lol, wouldn't that be funny if we all pooled out money in and bought this thing and set up a 'walk through' where people could take photoshoots acting out scenes from the musical?
Sorry, thinking of a perfect world.

I have a feeling this auction is going to get very expensive at the end....

Between everyone here we must have a pretty good collection of Phantom stuff. Maybe we should all upload pics of our items to a place online where people can at least 'walk through' the collection virtually?

Not a bad idea. I don't have much to contribute, at least anything official-ish other than a mask replica.Scorp wrote:ML6 wrote:lol, wouldn't that be funny if we all pooled out money in and bought this thing and set up a 'walk through' where people could take photoshoots acting out scenes from the musical?

I talked with the seller on the phone. He said that there has been more interest than he thought there would be for this piece. A bunch of people have tried to get him to close the auction early (Boo!) to avoid having to pay more. Which I totally understand....I would do the same thing. He runs a lot of risk closing it early, though. He did explain the paypal/cash thing. Last year, he sold an item and the buyer requested local pick up. The buyer paid through paypal, and picked up the item in person. Later that day, however, the buyer filed a claim with paypal saying he hadn't received the item. The seller told paypal it was a local pick up. Paypal said that without a valid tracking number, there was no way to prove that the item had been delivered. The seller had to refund the money and never got the item back.
He did say he was going to get the specs for me on saturday--dimensions, weight, etc....I'm going through my finances right now to see how much I can devote to the cause.
