Re: Love Never Dies - all views allowed
It always amazes me that people can have complete and utter opposing views on things.
I personally thought Ramin did a fantastic job in the press launch video, his voice sounded a lot more mature than when I saw him in Phantom (admittedly I've not seen him in a long time, not been near the show in well over a year) He's a great Phantom, I'm not denying that, but he wasn't always 100% on the mark.
His performance in the press launch really impressed me.

Hello. I tried for months to sign up to Phansonline but was unsuccessful, and was kindly told about this "new forum" by a friend. I am looking forward to seeing the sequel and Ramin's performance at the press launch only reinforced this.

There are clowns everywhere on the previews, websites, etc.
Clowns give me the heebies.
I envision clown heads sweeping down on the audience like the Vegas chandelier. I'll need therapy for years.
Coney Island? Why there, really? Why America?

Re: Love Never Dies - all views allowed
I swear, if the Phantom puts on a clown costume during this show I am walking out of the theater.
Re: Love Never Dies - all views allowed
Not that I have plans to go but should there be a clown in there at any point that's me absolutely not going.
I swear, no exagerration when the clown is on in Masquerade in the original I actually physically shake, it's so big, you can't ignore it.... oh god I am thinking about it now.

I'm the same way with guns on stage. I have this weird phobia of loud noises so my palms usually get sweaty right after Wandering Child because I know what's coming...*BANG!*

First time I saw Les Miserables, I had NO idea there would be any sort of gunshots. Well, I must have jumped ten feet out of my seat when I heard the *BANG!* Never mind that my seats were probably as far away from the shot as you could possibly get.
The only times I've really jumped at Original Recipe Phantom (borrowed that from some post at BWW) was the first time I saw it... when the flames shot up at the end of Wandering Child (just wasn't expecting that) and when the Policeman-In-The-Pit appeared. I was in the front row center and just *not* expecting Stephen Buntrock to just pop up out of nowhere. The gun in his hand didn't bother me, though.
As for clown. I find most of them (not all) rather creepy, but I'm not afraid of them (though I knew a girl who would absolutely FREAK at even a picture of one). That said, I do NOT like them and, honestly, would rather NOT have any clowns in LND.

I've only seen the Masquerade clown once, and yes, it's scary!! The logo for LND is really freaking me out, don't know why.

Re: Love Never Dies - all views allowed
Found this link from facebook.....with the names of most of the principle cast revealed in the article
Phantom and Christine - Ramin and Sierra
Meg - Summer Strallen
Madame Giry -Liz Robertson
Raoul -Joseph Millson - I've never heard of him
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1220772/Summer-Strallen-brings-little-Ohh-La-La-West-End.html
Have to say I'm not liking the sound of what has happen to Meg

I've got so many thoughts in my head after reading that article that I don't know what smiley to use.
From what Summer says, if it's accurate(which I was assuming it would be if she's recorded the album and is actually already cast as Meg) I get the idea of Meg turning into a villain who takes the place of Darius from Phantom of Manhattan. With the "T" in Phantom looking like a dagger and a Meg who "wants attention and thinks she's going to be a star", I could see those two coming together to bring the ending that Webber says will show that "the story really can't go on any further". ie - Christine dying at the hands of a jealous, dagger wielding Meg. Or the Phantom dying while trying to protect Christine from Meg.
I know what I wrote sounds pretty 'out there' but so far what I've read of the plot sounds pretty 'out there' already. I don't think anything would surprise me in this story anymore. lol
Going onto the font topic.
I do like the font/design for the words "Love Never Dies" and think it looks appropriate for where the story is set. The font for "Phantom", along with the dagger T is what I didn't like. It looked Gothic while "Love Never Dies" looked fitting for Coney Island. l can understand the use of the two together but I don't really like it.

Re: Love Never Dies - all views allowed
The idea of a jealous Meg has definitely popped into my mind a couple of times. I actually was tinkering with an idea for a fic based on the premise of the Phantom becoming a David Belasco-esque theatre impresario with Meg as his new star - a sort of alternative to LND for the heck of it - but didn't really want to get into a jealous Meg mess.
Re: Love Never Dies - all views allowed
Whoa!
Hmmmm.....If only we knew a Meg who could comment on our theories.
How about that outfit!

Re: Love Never Dies - all views allowed
So, if that indeed is correct, I get the feeling ALW heads for everything opposite:
Raoul used to be a handsome, respectable nobleman, he is now drunken, broke nobody
Meg used to be an innocent and talented ingenue pushing Christine on stage, she is now a second rate artist and insanely jealous, vile woman
Phantom was a man with pride who got over his obsession, he is now a cry-baby more obsessed than ever
Madame Giry feared the Phantom and sheltered her daughter from him, she is now his friends (as is her daughter)
What annoys me is that ALW rejects the link to "Phantom of the Opera", but on the other hand you can't establish these characters without knowing their past. I have doubts they'll be as intriguing to the audience if the past is all blank. They need their luggage, so to speak. But by including their past (I.E. the original musical), it also reflects back on the original characters. I know I'm not the only one being annoyed by this. Especially since what we've heard of the story so far sounds like a mediocre phan fic.
I'm thinking the drama is that both Meg and Christine's son turns out to be the Phantom's children (he sure gets around, despite "that face which (...) denied him the joys of the flesh...." ). Meg, having thought she is his only child and benefitting from this, is insanely jealous, and tries to kill Philippe (Gustave? Whatever...). But bummer, she ends up killing Christine instead. Pretty much like Darius in the "Phantom of Manhattan" book, as others already have mentioned. That's my two-cents, I might be very wrong about it. But it sounds plausible.

Brianne, could you take a photo of yourself in the same outfit and send it to me? You know, for a side-by-side analysis?
And not only that, but was also Christine's close friend. This is a terrible way for the character to gooperafantomet wrote:Meg used to be an innocent and talented ingenue pushing Christine on stage, she is now a second rate artist and insanely jealous, vile woman
- Spoiler:
- And when I mean, "go," I mean the bullet between the eyes she'd get at the end of the show as a stand-in for Darius.

Re: Love Never Dies - all views allowed
I only saw the poster for the first time yesterday, when I went home on the tube late at night. At first, I thought I was having hallucinations (even though I had not been drinking), but after I had seen another poster that looked just the same, I had to face the facts. I really don't like it. The mask looks creepy, like a cross between "Scream" and "V for Vendetta", while the writing reminded me of "Moulin Rouge". Not my kind of thing.
