Oh yes, I am there in thoughts, really!
That would be funny to see many different costumes...

That is never, ever how it really happens. Some encouragement from some great people has me back in. Won't be there for costume night, but I'm looking forward to meeting you in person finally!
Re: Las Vegas Production
So excited that you're going Anea! If you don't already have tickets for costume night, I have an extra seat available next to me and Raph in the front row for that night. Bought it for my cousin and now she's not going. Grrr.
My vote is for your awesome Aminta dress. I'll be wearing my Slave Girl costume and there will probably be others as well so it would be great to see a different costume and your Aminta truly rocks. I like it better than some actual stage versions.
Linds, so happy you're coming to Vegas too!!! WOOT!!

Re: Las Vegas Production
What night is "costume" night? I'm going the last night, and even though I don't have a costume...(can't sow ) I'd love to dress up more so, maybe with a mask or something.. Also, I think I said here before, that if anyone is gonna have an extra goody bag, maybe we can work something out? Also, how busy do you think the cast will be after the show? I was offered that the next time I went, one of the actors would meet me in the lobby(the actor themself told me this on twitter) but then it was said the show was closing and I'm going the last night, and I don't know if I should ask? What do you all think?

Re: Las Vegas Production
There is a general consensus amongst the loose band of phans I know are coming that many of us will be attend the Friday, August 31 performance in costume. It's not a set rule and phans who can't attend the Friday show are welcome to come in costume to any performance. Many of us are choosing to attend the final performance in formalwear.
I'd say it's a safe bet to say that the cast and crew will have an after party immediately following the final performance. They may come through the theatre lobby on their way out, but it's not a guarantee. It doesn't hurt to ask, though.

Wish I could make it to Vegas, but Labor Day's the beginning of crazy season in my line of work, and the DNC begins here in Charlotte the next Monday.
Re: Las Vegas Production

Yeah, thats kinda what I figured..I don't want to bother them though, so I guess I'll have to pass =(

Re: Las Vegas Production
The Las Vegas Review-Journal just printed an interview with Brianne. Will we perhaps be seeing her bring some sparkle to the Broadway production? Let the campaign begin!

"Q: What will you miss the most?
A: The superficial answer? The costumes (laughs). I mean, these million-dollar costumes here are really cool."

Re: Las Vegas Production
Hey, I just had an idea. What if a bunch of phans going to the last show, spread the word and we all come up with a song (in tune with a phantom song) to sing when they come out when the show is over, before their speechs or something? Saying how we wish they wouldn't leave, and we love them and whatever? Just a thought...I think it'd be a cool surprise for the cast!

I may be late to the game but I read that Rock of Ages will be the replacement show for Phantom; it opens this Dec at the Venetian

Re: Las Vegas Production
Rock of Ages will be moving into the Blue Man Group theatre, which will also be leaving the Venetian. It hasn't been announced what show will be officially be replacing Phantom as of yet.

Re: Las Vegas Production
This has probably been asked, if not answered, but did the Vegas production recoup? I don't know how you judge it given that the theatre was custom-built, but I assume we don't factor it into the costs since it's not as if they're destroying the theatre once Phantom leaves. What will happen to the sets and costumes, I wonder?
Re: Las Vegas Production
The only thing I've heard in terms of utilizing the space is a vegas version of Spider-Man Turn Off The Dark, may happen; its likely nothing will be in that exact spot this year, but Rock of Ages is opening in Dec. and that was announced a few months ago so it looks like it'll be a while before something opens were Phantom is/was.

Re: Las Vegas Production
I've been told that the sets will be destroyed and the costumes (and I assume props) will be sold off to the new US Tour. The chandelier will remain in fixed position until the theatre is occupied by another sit-down production.Scorp wrote:This has probably been asked, if not answered, but did the Vegas production recoup? While attendance has been very good from what I've heard, various reports say that the production will close around $20-$30 million in the red on a $70 million cost to mount the production. $40 million of that went into creating the auditorium (the space used to be a museum) and $5 million into constructing the chandelier.

Re: Las Vegas Production
The chandelier will remain in place until another sit down production? If im reading correctly that means that possibly intend to keep it intact? I would hope, granted I dont know what they would do with it, but it is a state of the art piece, I cant imagine it being destroyed, I still hope the vegas version is preserved in some media format, be it dvd/bluray/soundtrack...

Re: Las Vegas Production
That's what the producer said in an interview after the closing was announced. But if it isn't needed when the new show moves in, it'll probably be junked. It's not like it can be incorporated into any standing production of Phantom.StrangerThanUDreamt wrote: The chandelier will remain in place until another sit down production? Re: Las Vegas Production
The Venetian hotel has purchased the chandelier, and it will be displayed most likely in the Lobby. I have heard this from several trusted sources within the L.V Production.
