The Vienna production Empty The Vienna production

Post  TheFinnishPhantom Wed Jul 11, 2012 8:33 pm

Decided to create a separate topic for this production.
Here's the sitzprobe clip from the Making of-documentary:

Am I just hearing things, but isn't Andre's first lines different from the actual translation they used?

Thank you so much for this beauty! It does sound like a different line! My German isn't perfect, but it does sound like he's saying "manchmal" instead of "unverschemt" (Not sure on the spelling ... should it be an umlauted a in the second syllable?)

Thanks for the clips in the other threads, as well. Is there a clip of the Mirror or Journey to the Lair (even if in rehearsal room). What a beautiful production! EEK.

Concerning Andre's first line: it's fairly fast but sounds like "verdammt noch mal jeder sagt ich geh', ja verdammt noch mal". I'm not a native German speaker but do speak the language fluently enough, so if I need correcting, please do. I wonder if "verdammt noch mal" proved to be too strong a "curse", and "unverschämt" is a more neutral expression of irritation.

The press reel has Overture, TOM, AOM, Little Lotte, The Mirror, TPOTO, MOTN, STYDI, Prima Donna, AIAOY, Masquerade and Final Lair.
The documentary had the lake scene aswell, but it's mostly about the candles and the boat.

I also have few short news clips with Alfred Pfeifer (as the Phantom) and Joke de Kruijf, would there be any interest in those?

I'll upload the documentary first, it will be uploaded in 3 parts. It will take some time though, my upload speeds aren't good and the videos must be converted first. Smile

If I am correct in thinking, the Vienna production was one of only two to have a full circular chandelier? Well, I stumbled across this fantastic computer 3D rendering of a clip from the overture of a fully visualized circular chandelier, and my first thought was of the Vienna production and how this may give us an idea of what a fully circular form would look like.

Here's the Making of-video that I promised a long, long, long time ago. Life, hard drive crashes and school got into the way.. not to mention that the DVD this was on got screwed up and I had to find another copy.

Sorry for the crude splitting, I'm not too familiar on what the current YouTube limitations are.

Part 1: https://youtu.be/AoWXoyAIogk
Part 2: https://youtu.be/X9N1eK11_TM
Part 3: https://youtu.be/gsibCYL-ACE
Part 4: https://youtu.be/vZiFvHWH6bI
Part 5: https://youtu.be/SutaozIGdD4

I'll start working on the press reels tomorrow. Smile
I also happen to have some making-of features from Scheveningen and Antwerp productions. Would there be any interest in those?

Found a quicker way to split and convert the DVD, so here's the press reels aswell. First part of the video's sound got muted instantly. Seemed to be because of the Overture.. I split that and Hannibal/TOM so hopefully the Overture will remain as the only muted one. That shouldn't matter too much anyway, as it is the same Overture as before.. Wink

If more parts get muted, let me know, I'll come up with something else.. getting notes from the third part of the documentary that has a small part of One Day More. Quite ridiculous.

Overture

Hannibal - Think of Me
https://youtu.be/pa_SkMXKIHA

Angel of Music to POTO
https://youtu.be/U70xzmausnk

Music of the Night - Stranger Than You Dreamt It
https://youtu.be/3PKOyqEF6dA

Prima Donna - Il Muto
https://youtu.be/B8mzy7rlj90

All I Ask of You - Masquerade - Why So Silent?
https://youtu.be/Kp3kufORjyM

Final Lair
https://youtu.be/ifnZDgiKm7A

I've been told that this is filmed on a press night, which would explain the rather mellow performances. Sharper eyes may notice similar poses from the pictures from this production.

ETA: Apparently the Overture wasn't muted afterall. I cannot assure that it will stay that way, so enjoy the audio track the while it lasts.

THANK YOU! Finally footage of the ever-elusive circular chandelier. I really wish all productions would utilize that style of chandelier; on an side note it reminds me of a smaller scale Vegas chandelier, which can only be a good thing.

News clip with Goebel + two short clips with Alfred Pfeifer (as the Phantom) and Joke de Kruijf.

ETA: Apparently the encoding got screwed up, but nothing is missing.
ETA2: Fixed and reuploaded anyway.

Me & my fiancee went to the concert last sunday and both of us enjoyed it very much! the view was bit spoiled as we were in front row and the stage is quite high, but otherwise - nearly perfection. I like that what they did is completely independent and doesn´t steal any original ideas from the stage version. (I know about copyrights, but still)

It took me some time to get used to the cast holding their scripts, but I take it this was a wink to the audience that we are indeed seeing a CONCERT of our beloved show, not the show itself. The only thing that bothered me was that weird and completely out of place back projection of george melies moon.

I LOOOOVED ballet dancers - her - personification of light, innocence and him - personification of dark, passion. Or at least, this is how I see it

All the cast (no exceptions) - simply superb.

Just a side note, I must say I´ve never seen an actor sweating as much as ChristIan Alexander Müller. I think he was too much into role. My fiancee thinks It might be a result of him drinking too much the night before his performance Very Happy
