Re: Las Vegas Production
Speaking of which... I run a couple of pages on Facebook, and I had set the pages to show "everyone" by default. But FB automatically changed it to the posts of the site as default a while back, and one have to click on "everyone" to see the latest news. This is so annoying! I noticed the NYC Phantom page still has "everyone" as default. Anyone knows how this can be achieved? I've tried to change it in my own sites several times but I just don't get how it works...Raphael wrote:Yup. The UK official Phantom page does the same thing. I think NY Phantom still defaults to everyone.Madame Giry wrote:Oh wait, I'm a doofus. I followed operafantomet's instructions and she's partially right. The other problem was that when you go to the Phantom Vegas page directly, it automatically sets you up so that you only see the official messages sent out by the page owner. You have to click on this little link 'Everyone (most recent)' under the photo bar up top to see what other FB users have posted.
Strange.

Re: Las Vegas Production
I generally don't want to see what anyone but the page admin posts because, particularly on the phan pages, the people who post are dufuses.
Re: Las Vegas Production
Good question. When I view my Phantoons page it still shows me "Everyone" - but I'm not sure if that's because I'm the administrator or because that's how I set my permissions. Did you try "using facebook as" your page and modifying the Wall Tab in your profile's Manage Permissions to show "All posts"? I don't see any difference between doing it that way or editing the page as an admin, but you know how funky FB can be.operafantomet wrote:Speaking of which... Well, I for one have posted on the official New York Phantom FB Page, and the Las Vegas Phantom FB Page, so I suppose that makes me a "dufus", too.

Swanky, have you never posted on any of these pages yourself?

That's one thing about FB I really, really dislike. I don't mind the newsy posts by the admin, or the questions asked for some fun on the page (and I like to see photo and videos), but I've noticed most people don't really pay attention to the posts and would rather just post their adoration for the Phantom, which is fine, but really not for me.
I much prefer the set up of a forum. Threads with discussions. Much more interesting, for me at least. Guess I'm old-fashioned.
I have a fb page, but I really only use it to stay in touch with family, and for news from different interests I have (such as Phantom, Dr Who, Duran Duran...), otherwise I don't use it a lot.

Re: Las Vegas Production
Seriously, you guys know most of the comments posted on the official FB pages of any organization are embarrassing. Lots of people who can't string a sentence together, lots of Gerry fans, lots of people who don't know anything about the show. At any given time, relevant posts are crowded out by dumb ones. Just peruse the Phantom Broadway page right now.

Equally embarrassing are posts that single out people because of their side of the fandom. Sure some have bad grammar. Doesn't necessarily mean they are a dufus. Sometimes English is not a first language, or perhaps they have a learning disability. Who is to say? A great deal of us are not Gerik fans, nor movie fans but they're still entitled to express their views. No need to term them all as dufuses. Tolerance can go a long way in this world.

Re: Las Vegas Production
Hey guys? I love you all, but there's quite a bit of hypocrisy on this page. Let's not pretend we haven't all rolled our eyes and complained about phans on Facebook and other such sites, particularly in light of recent events. The word dufus may not have been used up until now, but we've all been annoyed by them and we've all expressed it. I think it's a great idea to promote tolerance, but you guys are acting as though Swanky is the only one who has ever said something rude and you all know very well that that is not the case.

And with that, let's shift this thread back on topic. Any further side discussions can be dealt with via PM.

So has anyone been able to find the PBS feature on the Las Vegas Phantom production posted anywhere on the internet yet? I'm still very interested in seeing how that turned out.

Just asking out of curiosity, not because I'm planning a trip...
Does the Vegas production arrange any special events for Christmas and/or New Year?

Re: Las Vegas Production
I believe they have a special schedule for that week, but I don't recall any specific events surrounding the show during Christmas or New Year's. They had a Holiday concert to raise money for Family Promise Las Vegas back in '07, and typically do other fundraising events for local charities, but that's all I can think of.

New Vegas review up and it features Bonnie Fraser. We haven't had anything on her before.

Re: Las Vegas Production
This just in from the official Vegas and New York Phantom Facebook Pages:
Anthony Crivello, from Phantom - The Las Vegas Spectacular, will perform the US National Anthem LIVE on CNN's Western Republican Presidential debate tonight 8pm EST!
Sounds like CNN will be broadcasting the event, so you can tune in and watch.

The Republican Presidential debate (episode, what are we up to, 3?) is being held at the Sands Expo Convention center and the Venetian. I was just standing behind a guy in check-in wearing a "I Heart Romney" shirt.Madame Giry wrote:This just in from the official Vegas and New York Phantom Facebook Pages:

There will be a huge chandelier in the convention center. This according to CNN American Morning talking heads.
Right away I thought of Phantom....

If I actually had television (I'm strictly Roku/Netflix now), I'd be doing the same.
Re: Las Vegas Production
Sadly, Anthony left all the candidates with their heads intact.
Didn't think he sounded all that great, to be honest.
This is actually debate number 8 or 9, I think. They've had five since Labor Day. I've watched bits of a few of them, but I mostly tuned in to the beginning of this one to see Anthony.

Agreed I was not impressed at all. I was hoping for something really great. And that chandelier that I had heard about yesterday morning? Yeah. Not what I had pictured. Three round strips large one with a smaller one in it all close to the ceiling. Not what I would call a chandelier in any sense.

Quite amusingly, we ended up watching this debate the whole way through (Only one I've watched so far). One of the most amusing debates I've seen in a long time. I really believed Romney was gonna physically pummel Perry more than once onstage.
It would have been beautiful... *lost in thought*
Anyway...Back on topic.
Anyone know if there's a cover for Crivello, and how often he gets to be onstage? And what days of the week? Husband wants to plan a trip to Vegas in April/May next year to coincide with seeing Vegas' minor league baseball team.
I can't wait to see what Jon Stewart is going to do with this.

Seriously? And they haven't been able to do anything but regurgitate the same old messages they always say when trying to get elected?SenorSwanky wrote:This is actually debate number 8 or 9, I think. Crivello has two understudies (Michael Lackey and Ian Jon Bourg), but there is no concrete performance schedule as to when they go on.PhantomsGhost wrote:Anyone know if there's a cover for Crivello, and how often he gets to be onstage? Re: Las Vegas Production
"The Star Spangled Banner" is a terribly difficult song to get right (the range is all over the place, for one thing)--I don't think I've heard more than one rendition in ten that's really impressed me. (Personally I think "America the Beautiful" is the much more stirring and meaningful patriotic song, but that's another debate...)
No falling chandeliers? Raphael, does Lil' Erik have an excuse for this?

LOL no, actually (He's a die-hard Astros fan). But he really loves minor league baseball in all its forms. Single A to triple A. He has always wanted to go to a 51's game.

@PhantomsGhost: I saw Ian Jon Bourg as Phantom in Las Vegas a few month ago. He was amazing! He has a great voice and he is a very good actor. I also have seen him performing the Phantom in Germany. He's my favourite actor and singer at all. And he is a very kind person.
