That made my day.meglett wrote:Las Vegas Phantom IS NOT closing. The "Phantom shop" is the only thing that is closing. Like it's been said, the shop will still have a kiosk in the lobby with limited merchandise. We've been having great crowds that exceeded summer expectations, so we'll be here for a while longer.
Re: Las Vegas Production
Good to hear. Shame about the shop though, when I went I chickened out of buying anything as I already owned the souvenir brochure and felt I couldn't justify spending money on wine glasses and wax seals and whatnot... It was nice that they had different merchandise for a change.
Re: Las Vegas Production
Yes, good news indeed. Since the tour's closing it looks like Vegas is my best bet for seeing the show.

I am very excited that Monday is now only a few days away. This will be my third Vegas show and I am happy to hear the show will be around for many more. I'm trying to figure out how we can fit in an extra show...arriving late Saturday, BMG on Sunday, Phantom on Monday, Ka on Tuesday....

At the show the other day, I noticed that the dress behind Christine's dressing room door was missing the skirt, but the bodice was still there. Does anyone know if there was any reason for this? Or were they just laundering it?

The skirt has been "missing" from it since previews.

Maybe the Phantom "borrowed" it to obtain Christine's measurements for the wedding gown.

Or maybe he's wearing it. That guy's kinda freaky.Paula74 wrote:meglett wrote:Viscountess wrote:At the show the other day, I noticed that the dress behind Christine's dressing room door was missing the skirt, but the bodice was still there. Sad to hear that the boutique's closing. Guess I'm going on a shopping spree this time around!

Re: Las Vegas Production
Anyone in Vegas this week able to get a copy of Whats On Las Vegas?? It has a really awesome Phantom picture and intresting article. I tried to ask the company if they would send me one, but they said they do not send out hard copies. I was able to get Las Vegas Magazine to send me one of the cover they did without a problem. Would anyone be able to help me out?
Thanks.
Thanks.

The article is online, if anyone wants to read: http://www.whats-on.com/coverstory/unmasked
Interesting quote from said article:
“When the Phantom just beckoned for the portcullis to come down [onstage during “Music of the Night”], if you do it at the right spot, there’s a question in the audience’s mind as to whether or not the Phantom is magical in making that happen or whether he has help in doing what he does. It’s blurring that line to make the whole experience more magical. That’s my favorite part.”
A hugely underestimated part (by ALW & co) of the Phantom's appeal, IMHO.
Re: Las Vegas Production
Great article--I love reading behind-the-scenes stuff. And I love that cover photo.

Saw this on the PLV Facebook page. A young woman had on her "bucket list" the wish to sing on stage at Phantom. You can see/hear about her experience below.

Re: Las Vegas Production
Awesome! As Anea said, I think that's on all of our lists as well. Anthony's sporting some long hair these days. Is he doing a movie role or something?
Re: Las Vegas Production
JoAnna and I decided to take a spur of the moment trip to Vegas and just got back from Phantom. We caught the 7:00 showing on Thursday the 19th, We booked the V.I.P Experience and were sitting in front row center (You have NO idea how awesome that was!) Also, got to go backstage, meet Anthony and the rest of the cast, took a awesome backstage tour,
I promise a full review and pictures from the tour in due course
but in the meantime, we saw the following cast
The Phantom - Anthony Crivello
Christine - Kristen Hertzenberg
Raoul Andrew Ragone
Carlotta Danielle White

Re: Las Vegas Production
A large group of members from this forum is heading for Vegas as we speak (more or less). Some are seeing several performances. I can't tell how envious I am! Aaaah.... Have lots of fun, all of you, and know that we all crave for pictures and reviews...
Re: Las Vegas Production
I'm here right now but not sure how many shows I'll see as I'm a bit sick at the moment. I will say that I went to pick up my tickets earlier and noticed that the Phantom Boutique has already closed. So sad to see the store gone and the Masquerade mannequins that used to hang out by the store missing.

Re: Las Vegas Production
So, life is busy, busy but I wanted to mention a little something about my Phantom trip on August 16th. We sat in the front row near the center of the stage. It was really a great show. Everyone seemed really "on" that night. I wonder if that's because of being after Sunday...everyone is refreshed? Either way, it was fantastic. Benjamin Hale filled in for Andrew Ragone and he did a fine job. It was weird seeing Kristi without Andrew, though.
We got to wish Brianne a happy birthday. Even my wife yelled "Happy Birthday" out...she had threatened me with divorce if I embarrassed her.
The gift shop was still open but you could tell they were packing things up. There were no discounts on merchandise, though!
If you haven't been able to go yet I hope you all are able to soon. I hope to get back after my "vacation".

11:09 p.m. GET OVER YOURSELF ALREADY, PHANTOM.
People are wondering why I'm laughing out loud.
Re: Las Vegas Production
9:55 p.m. “I wanted to tell you a joke with the word ‘fart’ in it because ‘fart’ is a guaranteed laugh but then I forgot to think of one until right now so this is going to have to suffice for your joke tonight.”
Now that's something I would do. I love it.
I just returned from another fantastic long weekend in Vegas with the DP group of AWESOME. We saw PLV three times and had a blast with everyone. Shenanigans, I tell you.

Re: Las Vegas Production
I just thought I would write a little about when my family and I went to see Phantom in Vegas on the 17th of August we went to the 7pm showing. There was nine of us in total, myself my fiance and my cousin's boyfriend where the only Phan's among us the rest knew a little but there was two who never even heard of the show before. We where sitting in section 9 in rows LL we had just got seated when one of the staff asked my aunt and I because we where a larger group would we like seat nearer to the stage, well of course I jumped at the chance!!! Well you could imagine my delight when we got seats right under the chandelier, I looked up from my seat and I was directly under the chanelier!!!
When you go to the Vegas production of Phantom you truly do get an experince you will never forget the whole show is amazing. Anthony Crivello was brillant as The Phantom but his voice for me did take a few songs to get used to. The whole final scene was amazing and my crying started at the end PONR when Christine pulls off his mask. One thing I was not fond of was in the final scene and Christine kisses him Anthony's hands went crazy all shaking and wriggling I was hoping after the 2nd kiss he would calm his hand down but he didn't and they looked like they where about to fall off his wrists!!!! I did like the little detail of his hands shanking but the way Anthony done it was a bit over the top for me!! Also some of his lines like "You try my patience make your choice" was screamed so loud and quick that you couldn't really make out what he was saying.
Kristi Holden was wonderful (voice wise) she has an amazing powerful voice I have to say vocal wise she was one of my favorites her Wishing was beautiful and again I had tears in my eyes!! I thought she played Christine much more of a Raoul gal than a Phantom gal. The only time she showed any kind of feeling for the Phantom was just after Twisted and she ran off almost crying saying "No Raoul I can't".
Im not sure who Raoul was that night it says on my playbill it was Andrew Ragone but Im not sure it was. Who ever he was he was very good esp from Maquerade onwards his voice was very strong and I enjoyed him as Raoul.
Nine of us went to see it with only three Phans and everyone enjoyed it and where talking about it days and days later. It was an amazing spectacular and I would love to go see it again soon.....well maybe after I finally get to see it in Broadway!!!

I thought those were the girls sitting next to us at KÀ. I can't believe we saw them so many times, but to be fair, people are hard to miss when they're wearing bobble penises. Re: Las Vegas Production
For any Vegas locals (do we still have any Vegas locals here?), cast members of the Las Vegas production will be performing Gianni Schicchi by Puccini at the Community Lutheran Church this Saturday, September 18, at 2pm. Admission is free, but a free will donation will be taken and go to the Grace Unleashed Fund at CLC. For more details, see Kristen Hertzenberg's Broadway Vegas blog.

Re: Las Vegas Production
I am giving some thought to seeing the Las Vegas production. It's the only one in the US I haven't seen and all of your comments make me curious besides the fact that I'd hate for it to close having never seen it.
So can someone in the know give a total Las Vegas newbie some good information about the city and seeing the show? I'd be flying so is it wise to stay at the Venetian? Should I get a package deal of hotel and show? Where are the best seats for a first time viewer? Cost of taxi to hotel (or is there better transportation).
I'd be coming to see the show, play a slot machine, and walk around sightseeing the strip and shopping. No real expectations other than those.
