Thanks, MasqPhan, for posting the link to that article/interview with Hal about PLV closing. Very interesting to read. It's a shame "book" musicals like Phantom can't survive for very long in Vegas...I just don't get it.

Re: Las Vegas Production
Haha my favorite part of the interview...
It was the note to the cast, where you said, and this is the full note: “Just heard that Scott Zeiger announced the end of our 6 ½-year run — what a run! Now, of course, if you were swinging from the rafters and jumping through fire, we might’ve been able to add a few more years, but what you accomplished was tremendous and unique for a Las Vegas audience. Congratulations to you all and I hope to see you before the closing.” That raised some eyebrows around Las Vegas, especially from Cirque du Soleil people, who thought it was a slap at their form of entertainment.

Re: Las Vegas Production
Update on the Farewell Brunch Breakfast Sept 3 @ Bouchon.
I just contacted Bouchon and 1) they only serve brunch Sat-Sun, although the breakfast and brunch menus are not very different, 2) they unfortunately do not take breakfast reservations, even for large parties. It is first-come first-served, and the wait time is determined based on how busy they are when we arrive.
Breakfast is served between 7am and 1pm and it was suggested we arrive before 10am for a better chance and prompt seating, but as many people may be leaving that day, I'm less inclined to commit to such a tenuous timetable, so we may wind up cancelling this event entirely. Just wanted to let those of you who were planning on attending this event had the latest news. Dinner reservations for Sept 1 have been made, however.

Re: Las Vegas Production
Well, the costume photo was just too tempting! Or maybe I just love this forum too much. I took some days off of work and changed my plans so that I will be able to make the Fri evening performance after all, and consequently, the photoshoot. Can't wait to see you all there!
Even though the dinner reservations for Sat have already been made, if the restaurant has empty seats, maybe my sister and I can meet up with y'all at some point.

That's awesome Loettchen. Are you going to be in your Meg costume? Save travels to you and everyone else.

I am bringing a few, including Red Death and Masquerade Meg. The plan is for my sister, who's accompanying me, to wear Meg. She's the one who first wanted me to do that costume, so it's very fitting!

Ditto! Those of us who can't be there are so sad and disappointed; the only thing that could possibly cheer us up is lots and lots of pictures!

Have a great time today, everyone; expecting photos and gossip upon your return home!
Re: Las Vegas Production
I want to tell you guys everything at once. But there's just so much to tell, so many pictures to show.
What I SHOULD start with telling, however, is that many of you were unaware you were in on a farewell present for Brianne Kelly Morgan. The present was a big secret up until the minute she got it, so I simply couldn't tell all of you in advance. But thing is that Brianne has the most awesome pipes I've heard in a Meg Giry. I'm very curious to see what she could do with the Christine role. So her present was a sort of a transitional Meg/Christine one, namely the Elissa skirt. It transform Christine from one of the ballerinas to the lead. Right? Yeah, look at this beauty:
So this is the present from Deserted Phans (AKA all of us) to Brianne Kelly Morgan, to thank her for 6 fantastic years and to wish her luck in wherever her future career brings her. Raphael made the perfect card to go with it, and with an amazing effort from Michael Lackey it was hung with the rest of her costumes in her wardrobe before the Friday night show. The full story should probably be told by Brianne herself, but I believe there were tears.
A gazillion photos, thoughts and whatnot is coming as soon as I have the time. But the Vegas production went out on a high note, I can say that much. And I think Kristi Holden and Andrew Ragone currently holds the record for the longest AIAOY kiss ever. I'm thinking 1,5 minutes? But what are the singers to do when the audience go nuts and keep applauding, and the applause increases the more they kiss? Hahahaha! They giggled good when they went off stage.

^THIS!
I too have so much to say about the past weekend, but am still digesting it all; I want to do a proper review, but I have to say the roar of the crowd when the overture started had me near waterworks, had complete chills when the crowd went wild when Anthony appeared in the mirror, and that AIAOY kiss was epic! The real tears during Wishing followed by the near 5 minute applause....and my personal favorite the crowd going nuts with whistles and cheers when the chandelier came down! Anyways, I have to say the real highlight was meeting some of you guys in person though, and the wonderful dinner and conversations that followed truly made my night. Its one thing to love something, but sharing it with those who are just as insane about it as you are..is a rare thing
Oh and apparently I am henceforth known as S.T.U.D , hahaha!

It was really nice to meet you too, and yes the applause during the show really was epic. I think both cast and audience felt the energy and will remember that rather than tears.
Re: Las Vegas Production
Haha! Well I was told that it was noticed what my abbreviated s/n is since I forgot the "It" from "Stranger Than You Dreamt It"
And I agree, although it was bittersweet I really walked away feeling more excited than sad

Re: Las Vegas Production
Sorry for the double post, but here's another very good Las Vegas Sun news article on the closing of Phantom (complete with photos from the final performance curtain call). It sounds like Phantom will really be missed in Vegas -- they're sad to see it go.

Re: Las Vegas Production
As operafantomet said, full details to come. But to sum up:
Costumes galore.
A big suite.
People getting kicked out of dressing rooms.
Phan mixing.
More innuendo than you can shake a Serafimo ass at.
A spectacular finale.
Free reign onstage.
And apple!porn. LOTS of apple!porn.

Great summary, Raphael! It was so much fun - and the free reign on stage was pretty incredible.

Re: Las Vegas Production
"We had the crazy fans who dressed up, people throwing roses at us. It was great.", Anthony Crivello say in an interview.
I just wanna point out that the people in costume were NOT the lipstick-love-letter writing, mist-bottling, stage-sleeping, rose-throwing, crying people...
And hahaha, that is a great summary indeed Raphael! I totally second everything.
I'm gonna post some costume pictures shortly. If anyone protest against being in that bunch of photos, feel free to tell me so and I'll remove it.
