Phantom Phans: San Francisco Bay Area Chapter
Star Wars fans typically organize themselves by region, so I figured I'd do the same here.
Are there any Bay Area phans on this forum?

Darn. So much for all those mini phan gatherings that were in the works.

Last Halloween, Lon Chaney's "Phantom of the Opera" silent film was screened with live pipe organ accompaniment at Davies Symphony Hall. I learned of it too late and was unable to attend. This Halloween they're screening the silent classic, "Nosferatu."
Seeing as how there aren't many silent horror films, the next time they screen the Lon Chaney classic, do any Bay Area phans want to join me? And by Bay Area Phans, I mean you, Andy. Since we're the only two around here, I guess

I was so bummed by that. I went to my first Halloween party ever last year and felt so grateful to be invited that I skipped the movie screening, but the party turned out to be boring and I was lonely the whole time. And now this year I have no plans but they're showing Nosferfreakin'natu. >_>Raphael wrote:Last Halloween, Lon Chaney's "Phantom of the Opera" silent film was screened with live pipe organ accompaniment at Davies Symphony Hall. I'd like to join you guys for a screening. (Or, you know, I would if I lived in the Bay Area.)
Re: Phantom Phans: San Francisco Bay Area Chapter
You know i have never seen "Nosferatu" all the way through. Every time i try to watch it i always get interrupted. You still technically in the Bay Area Mandy.

Re: Phantom Phans: San Francisco Bay Area Chapter
Oh, I know I am. I was still carrying on the previous joke about you and Raph being the only Bay Area folk on here.Phantom10906 wrote:You still technically in the Bay Area Mandy.

Oops sorry, a bit late on the uptake tonight.

Re: Phantom Phans: San Francisco Bay Area Chapter
Heh heh... Even though I don't live there, would I still (sorta) count since I first saw the show in SF?
I have a feeling I wouldn't have too much luck if I tried to start a Hawaii chapter here.

Re: Phantom Phans: San Francisco Bay Area Chapter
Personally, I'd encourage lots of Phantom Phan Chapters all over the world for fans to connect with other local fans. That was one of the great things about Fans Week - the chance to hang out with a bunch of people who share the same obsession.
Lisa Vroman will be performing with the san Francisco Symphony this Friday night at Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco as they celebrate the opening of the Walt Disney Family Museum. The concert will include songs from "Cinderella," "Pinocchio," and "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs," as well as classical pieces featured in "Fantasia." Tickets are $15 to $70.

I'm about 75% certain I'll be able to attend, barring any unforeseen circumstances with my workload. Anyone else here planning to attend?

Re: Phantom Phans: San Francisco Bay Area Chapter
I was going to. But alas, I must start saving for fans week '10. Its a shame it wasn't happening in a few weeks, then i would be able to go.

Re: Phantom Phans: San Francisco Bay Area Chapter
Anyone else for sure going to go to the Holiday Pipe Dreams concert?

Re: Phantom Phans: San Francisco Bay Area Chapter
I'm waiting on a final headcount of my guests within the next few days, but yes, I'm planning on being there. Looks like there are still plenty of seats available.phantom10906 wrote:Anyone else for sure going to go to the Holiday Pipe Dreams concert?

Re: Phantom Phans: San Francisco Bay Area Chapter
I hope I'll be able to manage it, but with this theatre internship I'm doing soon it might be difficult. I'll have a show that afternoon and, according to the technical director, will be done by "no later than 4:30," but I'm still gonna play it by ear as the date approaches. Even if I'm actually done at 4:30, that's cutting things pretty close. It usually takes about half an hour to get to the BART station, and then the BART trip's about an hour long. And that's not even taking into consideration the time I'd need to make myself look vaguely presentable between scurring around backstage and going to the Symphony. And the concert's at 7 PM? Yikes...
Re: Phantom Phans: San Francisco Bay Area Chapter
That is a pretty tight schedule. Well let me know if you'll be coming so I can keep an eye out for you.

I'm buying mine on the 4th. Where in the third row?
Re: Phantom Phans: San Francisco Bay Area Chapter
Facing the stage, we're on the far left. That would be stage right, correct? I'm pretty sure Lisa will be on that side of the stage based on the previous concert.

Thought I would get a jump start on this one. Click Here
Music Man in Concert. Starring Lisa Vroman. They have a 6 dollar discount on the two higher price levels for people under 24 on ticketmaster.
Edit: I would not be able to make that Saturday evening performance. But I'm free for the Friday evening or Sunday Matinee.
