Re: Prized phantom possesions
Now I have to find that DVD you sent me with the Engström interview, and it's as good as finished. Had 6 full hours to work on it on the bus yesterday, got to integrate "my" parts in a good way (especially the Danish one, very happy about how it turned out).Phantomlove wrote:Absolutely, that picture is really great and comes as a nice surprised in the mockumentary.

How'd you get all those autographs? In person, or did you buy them on eBay? Or did you send them in to MCFA?

I got them for Christmas. A family member of mine knows a autograph collector.

That looks awesome. Can I move into your basement? I'll pay rent.

Re: Prized phantom possesions
Agreed, both that basement and the autograph collection are awesome stuff.
Re: Prized phantom possesions
Does anyone here own this?
Famous Phantom artist Robert Heindel created this reproduction of a charcoal sketch of the Phantom clutching Christine’s wedding veil. The 22” x 14” black and white poster is printed on a heavy vellum paper and includes both Michael’s and Robert Heindel’s signatures embossed in gold at the bottom of the poster. The M.C.I.F.A. bought these directly from Robert Heindel exclusively and the posters are no longer in production, so they are truly a collectors’ piece, indeed! Black & white poster.
If so, any more pics? Am considering getting one and framing it (assuming the MCIFA ship overseas, which I imagine they do, right?).

I want the one of Christine! But I agree, that picture is gorgeous and if you get it - its worth every penny.

Re: Prized phantom possesions
The print is definitely worth getting. I had ordered one in 2005. Shipping was a bit slow (in the States), but the print was really lovely. Unfortunately, mine got badly damaged when I took down all of my framed pictures last year.

Oh no, how did that happen?
Am I right in thinking that this is the only Heindel-print still available for purchase now? (Except old ones that occasionally turn up on eBay?). I'd quite like the 'I'm Here, I'm Here, I'm Here' one that hangs in the foyer of HM's.
Re: Prized phantom possesions
I've got both this one and the "I'm Here" print. Think I bought them both at Her Majesty's when I was there in '93. I have yet to find a place to put them up.Scorp wrote:Am I right in thinking that this is the only Heindel-print still available for purchase now? I bought these already-framed Heindels on eBay several years ago. Though they look great, to make both prints 'match' the original owner had them cut down to work with the frame sizes. Hopefully thisp ic will give you an idea of what it would look like framed up. I actually have another MC Heindel 'veil' poster that hasn't been altered in a cheap frame that I found at a flea market a few years ago, but I haven't gotten around to getting a better frame for it yet.

I love those prints. The boat scene was was entitled 'Beyond The Lake' and used to be available in the old Stella merchandising catalogues from the German production. There was also 'The End Of Innocence' which had Christine against a blue background, whenever it appears on eBay it's usually very expensive.

Scorp: I have that print with the Phantom holding Christine's veil. It's really lovely so it would be worth getting I think. I also have the "I'm here, I'm here, I'm here" and "Beyond the Lake" prints. Wish I had the "The End of Innocence" one. I've always loved that one.
Re: Prized phantom possesions
Thanks for the pics/recommendations, guys! I'll probably place an order for it then.
If anyone ever sees any other Heindel Phantom prints for sale anywhere, let me know! Jealous of you guys who managed to get the other ones while they were still available. I should probably add that to the list of merchandise suggestions I need to send to the RUG...

Re: Prized phantom possesions
Went looking for them last night online, actually.
I found out that some lady in Canada has both the "I'm Here, I'm Here, I'm Here" and the "Beyond the Lake" prints up for sale. $20 for each or $40 for both. She says that she keeps them in really good condition. I would love one of them to go next to my Les Miserables poster. (It's difficult to find a plain - no writing on it - Phantom poster.) But, we shall see. I might just end up in time ordering one of the MCIFA.

Oo, I'd really like both of those two, would go great in my new place...I want all these bare walls covered!
Have ordered the veil one from MCIFA...has anyone ordered off them before? Is it just a standard rate for shipping? They only charged me $6 to ship it to the UK...rather cheap! Hoping that they're not going to tell me there was a mistake and they can't ship outside the States or something...though given it's an "International Fan Association", I'm assuming that won't be a problem?
Re: Prized phantom possesions
Excuse me, you already have one! Why should I give you the link?
Sir, that's stealing my finds, lol.
(I need to save more money to come out to London, can't buy any more stuff for a while.)

I don't have it yet! And those other two plus this one = dilemma solved as to how to decorate this blank canvas of a room.
Just contacted the seller---fingers crossed she likes me better than you.

Re: Prized phantom possesions
For anyone interested, the new (and much improved) boutique at the Palais Garnier is now selling new Opéra de Paris merchandise that makes reference to Phantom...it's like a list of words associated with the Paris Opera and among them, next to each other, are 'Fantôme de l'Opéra' and 'Faust'. I bought the mug for no good reason, but there's also stationery and bags with the same design. The boutique is also selling the CD that was released last year of those phonographic records that Leroux mentions in the original novel (which I bought but haven't listened to), and, perhaps more importantly, they are also now selling Charles Garnier's Le Nouvel Opéra, which was welcome news to me as I think it's been out of print for a very long time. I bought a copy at a rather rip-off price of 29 €, but it's worth it I reckon because aside from telling you what Garnier's intentions for the building were, Leroux is supposed to have lifted several passages in his descriptions of the building in the original novel from this book, so it'll be good for research.
The new boutique is also embracing Phantom culture by selling a number of PoTO-related books; I noticed Leroux's, Meyer's Holmes/Phantom crossover and the new one called La Douleur du Fantôme on sale. Oh and for some reason they're giving away free packs of Opéra de Paris playing cards if you go there at the moment.
Also available: a bust of Charles Garnier for nearly 1000 € Seriously, who is going to buy that?!
P.S. Many thanks to those who recommended the MCIFA Heindel print of Crawford and the veil; I bought it, framed it and love it. It's now hanging in my flat. I'd REALLY like to get my hands on those other Heindel prints, particularly the one of the boat scene, the 'I'm Here' one and the 'End of Innocence' one...so if anyone happens to come across them, let me know!
Also if anyone's interested, I finally tracked down the name of the artist who did the atmospheric painting of the grand escalier of the Palais Garnier that hangs in Her Majesty's by the cloakroom opposite the stalls bar -- this is the picture I mean:
The artist is Jean Béraud. I've always liked it, and I found out that art.co.uk and art.com sell prints of it. Bought one and framed that too.

Re: Prized phantom possesions
Eek! Out of a spontaneous decision I'm going to see Rebecca Caine perform tonight... The fan in me wants to take something to be signed, but all my cast recordings, souvenir brochures and other merchandise are miles away! Any creative ideas?
Re: Prized phantom possesions
Yeah, go to a drug store and buy a cain, then when she signs it, it'll be Rebecca's Cain.
Re: Prized phantom possesions
She was in Les Mis, right? You could rip your shirt open and have her sign "24601" across your chest.
Or, if you still have access to a printer, you could find a pic of her online and print it out.

That would have been amazing...alas, I didn't read your post before I left to go there. I ended up forgetting about the entire idea of getting something signed, but I think that turned out to be the best as I think it would have been a tad inappropriate to act the Phan/Mizzer after seeing her perform a monologue full of expletives about irritable bowel syndrome.
I did meet her though and she is exceptionally pleasant, one of the nicest actors I've ever met. And still in possession of a fantastic voice, which seems to have been shamefully underused in her musical theatre work; no wonder she went down the opera route. She could nail the part of Carlotta easily; shame that won't ever happen.
