Re: Rare pictures 1
Does anyone have any rare photos of the Phantom in "Wandering Child"? I'm looking for mostly phantom stuff, close-ups & full body, because I'm trying to find references for a tattoo I'm drawing.
I've only seen about 10 good WC photos on the web.

Re: Rare pictures 1
There not many clear ones, mainly because most of the clear shots are staged shots (Toronto did a bunch) most other prductions use shots that are taken during rehearsal so they tend to be dark and blury like the first one here.
Re: Rare pictures 1
I'm guessing you've seen these? http://potocostumes.webs.com/notes/graveyard.htmlartistkae wrote:Does anyone have any rare photos of the Phantom in "Wandering Child"? I'm looking for mostly phantom stuff, close-ups & full body, because I'm trying to find references for a tattoo I'm drawing.

Anyone...
...know who this is?
...know what they're doing?
...have a better quality photo?
I've always been curious.

hmmm, well the candelabra looks canadian.
But that mask is US, before the current style of us masks, its like the one Ted Keegan wears and Hugh Panaro. Maybe its an understudy.

Re: Rare Pictures
Well, christine's wig looks kinda like the early broadway wig. Though, I've seen some canadian wigs look like that. Hmm...
Re: Rare pictures 1
I don't recall the name of the Christine, but that is Thomas James O'Leary as the Phantom; pretty sure that it's from the US Tour, not Broadway. They are posing for the Safe House (http://www.safe-house.com/), a Milwaukee restaraunt that has a very cloak and dagger spy theme. Once you get there, you have to know all kinds of passwords to get in. I'm not sure if this photo means the Phantom cast bypassed all the obstacles to getting in the place, or if they were used as a publicity stunt to further the mystique of the Safe House.
Still, fun blast from the past photo.

I'm pretty sure it's Thomas James O'Leary and Adrienne McEwan.

There are some lovely photos on Sara Sarres' Facebook, none of which I've ever seen anywhere before:

Re: Rare pictures 1
Got the 2009 Korean Cd today, thought I would post the pics from it here rather than having them lost in the Cast Recording thread.
It's a nice package, but I prefer to have a nice plactic case so it does not get dammaged over the years.
The last MOTH shot I believe is of the actors who are in the bonus tracks, and it uses the Canadian backing / orchestral score.
enjoy

Ooooh, those pictures are gorgeous! I especially love the MOTN ones. Cool to see a darkhaired Meg too. Thanks for sharing!
Re: Rare pictures 1
I don't know if these are actually rare, but I hadn't seen them before. I picked up the Alles über das Phantom der Oper book that was recommend to me (thank you!!!), and I was so excited about the beautiful photos of the Viennese production, that I figured I'd share a few, especially when I saw TheFinnishPhantom's request. These are some of the two-page spreads (sorry about the spine seams!) that were my favorites.
Phantom is Alexander Goebel, Christine is Luzia Nistler. If you click on them, you can see the bigger versions. If you want REALLY big versions, message me. There were many more photos, so if you have scene requests, I can scan those too.

Ooh wow, those pics are amazing! I love the look of the Vienna production (as well as, of course, how the cast sounded).
Were there photos of the chandelier or the Red Death costume included? If so, I'd love it if you could scan those!

Re: Rare pictures 1
Anything that shows their odd looking proscenium or the round chandelier will be great to see.

Sure thing! The only pictures of the chandelier were it falling and it completely covered at the auction, sorry. I scanned the falling one.
Red Death:
Some larger versions of the insets from that photo here:

Also, this little picture with the caption: "...Everything has its (sometimes somewhat absurd) place for the many quick costume changes..."
For Justin, sorry, there wasn't much. Just this.
For Mademoiselle, here's a bunch more stuff:

Love those pics, especially the last one with the prosthetic application process.
Looks like their proscenium was in multiple pieces because of the shape of their existing stage's proscenium.

I've been looking for that book for years, without luck. The pictures are absolutely gorgeous, I can't believe they managed to make such a lovely book and yet so dull a souvenir brochure... Cause the souvenir brochure has blurry and rather dull pictures, while the ones above looks sharp and original. Thank you so much for scanning!
Re: Rare pictures 1
PS - speaking of different proscenium... I remember one of the early Japanese productions/theatres had a very different proscenium, wasn't it without the golden angel and stuff? I don't remember the details, but do anyone have a picture of it?
Re: Rare pictures 1
Ohmygod ohmygod ohmygod thanks a million times!
Squeeee! I am so happy to see those pictures!
I love that fully-round chandelier. It looks much better than original, but it's harder to control, because it swings more easily than oval ones.
I have seen a picture of it, I remember how i wondered that.
And for the chandeliers, I think Japanese chandeliers are overdecorated. They have literally doubled every little detail, like those "lumps" in the lyres, and after the orange colour, it looks like oversized sea crab...

I don't have any pictures, sadly... but I remember noticing that in the Japanese Tour in the '90s, they didn't have the angel statues on the proscenium -- instead, it was a Pegasus statue. Kind of an odd but interesting change. Not sure if the sit-down productions (either back then or more recently) did the same thing.
Anyway, those are some amazing photos, Loettchen! Thanks for uploading them!
Re: Rare pictures 1
I never heard that the Japan ones in the early days didnt have an angel. I heard that they had, but it could not be lowered, so the Phantom came out from behind the pegasus statue on the rooftop, that is probably whay you may have seen in photos. I also saw that on something I should not be watching.
THe Vienna proscenium is really odd looking, but understandable since Theatre an der Wien is laid out more like an opera house than a conventional theatre. Did they use that odd looking proscenium at the Raimund theatre too?

Well, I have mostly been avoiding scanning in the very blurry or dark photos, of which there are several. Maybe they are the same ones as in the brochure? Stuff like the mirror scene, Wandering Child, PONR. The photos that were in the little booklet that came with the Austrian Cast Recording are in this book in bigger, better form as well. Pretty much every scene in the musical has a picture in here, though (except Notes II), which is impressive.
I'm glad people like the photos!

Lottechen, I can't thank you enough for scanning these incredible pictures! One more request, though: are there any photos of Twisted Ev'ry Way? Or does that count as "no pics from Notes II"?
Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I'm up for any sort of picture from the Viennese production!

Damn it, I remember seeing picture of that! I wish I'd find it again... *plunges down to the black despair of Google*
