Rare pictures 1

I've always loved those photos, too...especially the one in the cellars with the wedding gown.

But I honestly don't recall seeing one in the dressing room...or, if I did, I've got a big mental blank and can't picture it!

It wasn't in costume, at least not a Phantom costume - I wonder if she wore an extremely long tutu or ballet costume of some sort?

Yes, there is a picture of Sarah taken in the dressing room...the same dressing room they shot part of the POTO promo video in. I have the photo on my computer, I'll post it ASAP.

Re-posting this, cause it still cracks me up... Tomas "Tomas!" Kofod with an... ahem... discrete Christine tattoo on his shoulder... It was last night (or one of the last nights) of the 2009 Copenhagen production; Phantom is Preben Kristensen and Christine is Mia Karlsson.

She was alternate in West End in October 1989 - November 1991. I don't think she performed in Australia, but correct me if I'm wrong... (Ana Marina and Mia van den Eykel was both in West End and the original Australian production)

You are so right. I made the reference without checking my programs and got mixed up...she was in my London program with Jill Washington, not my Australian program...

Yeah, Iren Bartok was definately in London. I saw her there in 91.

I think it looks a little to 2D, versus the deeper effect that a lot of the wishing gowns have. IMO, It looks to "blue" and not really "denim" like most of the other dresses if that makes sense.

To me, that Wishing dress looks a little plastic-ish.

This is, I believe, a photo for the Broadway productions 5th birthday...cast includes Mark Jacoby, Karen Culliver, and Hugh Panaro. I used to have a list somewhere of everyone's name, but I think that vanished in an old laptop crash.

I agree. The Japanese production started copying the US costumes app 2 years ago, but the result was not too successful. Instead of having the ornamented look from the past, they now look like cheap knock-offs:


1. Elder Japanese costume, 2. Newer Japanese costume, 3. What they're trying to copy

I wish they would go back to their old look... It was richer and more sculpted in look. ETA: my opinion is of course based on how they look in pictures, they're probably nice live.

This is a picture from the Stockholm production of Phantom, that is extremely rare. As far as I know it has never been published before and not even developped in full size earlier. I bought it from the photographer a few weeks ago and he had the negative scanned for me. It's Martina Langas as Meg and Elisabeth Berg as Christine in the Angel of Music scene.
