The wedding dress is loved by everybody
Fast forward to 2.45 and enjoy! Pia sure is a sweet teacher and she's got taste!
How surprising! It's a wedding dress of the old (early 1990's) type, it actually looks like one of the original Dutch ones. I wonder who has those costumes these days, and how Pia Douwes came to borrow it!
Pics of the same type:

Well spotted!! And so fun to see the Sissi/Christine combination.
Re: YouTube clips
I'm usually totally close minded to the stage POTO costumes outside of the US and West End versions, but that Wedding Gown is absolutely gorgeous!

Re: YouTube clips
ok so a TV show I absolutely adore called "Good News Week"
(which is basically 6 comedians answering a group of questions
about the weeks news, but as always they go randomly off topic)
had a reference to phantom and I found the video on youtube,
(I highly recommend watching the whole video for a belly full of laughs)

Thanks to Phantomofthesal for linking me to this vid. It's a parody of an American Idol type audition by an actor wearing what I believe to be authentic West End Phantom gear.

Yeah, that was posted in the London thread last year. That's the London cast's entry for the Eurovision contest, so those are actual cast members (I believe the Phantom was the alternate at the time, Nic Greenshields).Madame Giry wrote:Thanks to Phantomofthesal for linking me to this vid. No, the guy playing 'Erik' is Adam Linstead, who's currently in the touring Les Mis. Nic Greenshields is the one playing the camp judge on the far left.
Re: YouTube clips
I am sure I heard that they didn't know he was going to storm out the stage door and get onto that bus either... I personally love the random passer by at the stage door looking a bit "WTF?"
Although I am a bit partial to Barry James punk'd and Phillip Griffiths joins room 89 (I believe it is 89) which started on Facebook but I think may have made their way to youtube now.

Yeah, I remember reading that. Him storming out was totally unplanned, and the fact that he drags out a traveling card came as a big surprise. So brilliant.dolly-ry wrote:I am sure I heard that they didn't know he was going to storm out the stage door and get onto that bus either... And yes, those other clips you mentioned are on YouTube. The Barry James one is too funny for words! And apparently, they managed to scare the crap out of Heather Jackson too - notice her in the background, in an unbuttoned Madame Giry bodice. She's cursing at them... Hahaha! Well done, folks.

Re: YouTube clips
What I love about that is the fact that they had already done it to him before and he'd got all the way down to the stage apparently. Of course that couldn't be filmed... Although during the Entr'acte all i can think about is that video now.
I think the Phillip Griffiths one is newer as I'm sure that is Will Barratt who jumps out.

The Barry James one is priceless! The poor guy! When I was at Phantom the other week, during the Entr'acte, all I could think of was Barry running out his dressing room! The Philip Griffiths one is good too, I'm pretty sure it was Will Barratt that jumped out.

But hooray!!! After some months delay (or so it feels, anyway), Josefine and I are very soon proud to present the Phantom Mockumentary we've been working on. April 20 is the date, I will of course provide links when it's online. Less than a week! In the mean time, the third and last teaser:

Please explain to me, is this one of the 'tryouts'? I love how there is some 'new dialogue', and the phantom shows his face to the audience in Stranger Than You've Dreamt It...
I'm so ... I don't know what to say. This is awful.

I had no idea this video existed! This is Michael Crawford (and a Christine, I have no idea who) at the Innaugrational Gala for 1989. Dressed in full garb, he sings Music of the Night. Interesting 'almost kiss' there!

Seriously, that had "stereotypical bad high school acting" all over it. WTF was that???

Why are they Rex Harrison-ing half the frikkin' lyrics?

Uhh... what?MSA students have inspired the audience by their wonderful performance for the "Phantom of the Opera" Mrs Suzan Mubarak's presence urged the students to a magnificent performance that was exactly on the same level that was presented by British actors since 1982 in London.

Re: YouTube clips
Nice to see the inaugural video up. That was my intro to Phantom way back. Still love it as much as then.
That other video from the university production though. Same caliber as in London?

Oh! Hrm. I've never really seen any good images of her. So I really couldn't tell. Thanks.
EDIT: That video is god awful. It was just... well, whatever it was, I saved it to my 'favorites' on YouTube. And, 1982? So, when Phantom was just a twinkle in Webber's eye, this show was already a wonderful production.

That has to be the worst thing I have ever seen in my entire life.
Re: YouTube clips
Loved seeing the inaugural video. I think MC was lipsynching using the same track he did for the Bob Hope Show. Exactly the same lyric cuts and same opening with the overture, and similar blocking.
That college production video I'd seen before when we had a thread for those productions on the old board. Hilariously bad.

My favorite moment is definitely the Red Death scene. I love that the hidden deformity is not so hidden, or that the trap door goes down slower than a manual elevator and the company is llike, "Whoa. Someone should really do something."
The Don Juan Tango made me laugh pretty damn hard too. Nice to see the royalty free music composers getting their due.
This was just the most unintentionally hilarious thing I've ever seen.

The Red Death scene is THE BEST.
It's as though he's just saying it and not thinking it through - in Shatner mode, of course. It's like ONE HUGE run on sentence. "... I gotta go, so I'm just going to go down the trap door."

My favorite part is the sweeping hand movement you see everybody doing. Seriously. That's bad high school acting right there. If you didn't notice it the first time, watch it again. It's amazing.
