My God, that is beautiful! And what a progress! I am very impressed.
thanks!
although, I have hit a little snag, I cant find any gold ribbon that is the right shade of gold to match my gown.
but I found earlier today (...the clock on this page is wierd. it says its 8:55 am when right now in AUS it is 7:58 pm )
two pots of gold paint that I had used to paint the border lace on the tabs, so theoretically I could buy some white ribbon and paint it gold...
but I have been working on my new project (he he yes another phantom costume )
which leads me to my next question:
does this page still exist but with another link?
http://www.geocities.com/Broadway/1875/ilmuto.htm
or http://www.geocities.com/Broadway/1875/mask.htm
because I know geocities did close down but I would love to see Josefine's costumes..

Alas, her site went offline long ago. But if you nag enough, I think she might have some pics stored in her computer... he-he.littlelotty004 wrote:

Geocities haven't closed down yet, it will in a couple of weeks (October 26. or something). So save valuable stuff while you can! Lots of info and pics will disappear from the web. *sigh* But hopefully most sites will have moved elsewhere. I've moved app. 95% of my stuff so far.

What?? No boots? The hat is truly stage quality, I love it!
Re: Phantom costumes - real and replicas 1
No jacket either! I did have these adorable pair of lace up shoes, though. I was on SUCH a tight schedule that a third of what you see there was put together at school during breakfast.operafantomet wrote:What?? No boots? The hat is truly stage quality, I love it!
I hope to
Thanks, I'm very happy with the hat.[strike][strike]

I'm loving these costumes.
LittleLotty: I love the pleating on the skirt. It really adds to the look of it. It must have taken a looong time to get all of that done and to have done it so well. I love that green fabric so much that you used.
I'm also amazed with the embroidery you did for the Aminta costume.
Viscountess: Nice Meg outfit. You got a third of it done during breakfast? Wow. That hat is awesome.
Stephanie: I remember on Phansonline when you'd posted that you'd got that dressing gown. You must still be on cloud nine with having that costume! I know I would be. I love seeing those pictures again. They're so pretty.

right so the pleating on the skirt is not done, neither is the bow at the back, and I was wondering how it closes, weather it was hook and eyes, or velcro

Judging on how they rip the skirt off on stage, and the sounds it makes, I would definitely say velcro!

Re: Phantom costumes - real and replicas 1
I went and asked about that pink and black paisley fabric recently and several stores in the area currently have it in stock. I think they get it on six-yard rolls, since that's what most of the stores had. I'm still not sure how much I want to buy, though. I'm pretty sure I used between two and three yards for the jacket the first time (I kept the receipt, but I can't find it now!), but I think I'd rather be safe than sorry and buy too much. On the other hand, I don't have money to just throw around so the idea of purposefully buying too much scares me nearly as much as the idea of not having enough.
Meh. Don't mind me, I'm just fretting aloud.
Does anybody have any suggestions for fabrics to use for the white blouse/sleeve parts? Not even specific fabrics, but just types of fabric. I don't know what textures would be best. I know Brianne said that the fabric on her costume is the same fabric used to make Christine's dressing gown, if that helps.

I'm thinking some sort of fine white-on-white (or cream) damask?phantomgirl110 wrote:Does anybody have any suggestions for fabrics to use for the white blouse/sleeve parts? I know the colour is wrong here, but you get the idea:

Have you all seen this Phantoons "step-by-step" presentation?
http://www.phantoonsoftheopera.com/phanimation/joyofphantoons/demo.html
I post it here because the details and research put into both Christine and the Phantom is amazing. Raphael, you're so talented, I love your style and your stuff.

Mandy,
I just purchased some of the Dressing gown fabric in NY back in July for Bri. I'll have to find the receipt to get you the exact cost. Go authentic, if you can.

Where did you get the fabric from? Is it a store-store or special order?phantomfett wrote:Mandy,

I'm wondering the same too. I've been wanting to remake my dressing gown.

B&J Fabrics in NY. It's a real store. I wish I had more time to go through it.

Ooh! That is awesome that you found the fabric. I just looked through their website but didn't see that particular fabric available online. I'll try to go to that store the next time I'm in NYC.

Just took a look at their site. It's certainly very neat, I think I might stop by to take a look next week.phantomfett wrote:B&J Fabrics in NY. It's a real store. I wish I had more time to go through it.
How much was the fabric?

I want to say it was $23/yd, but I can get the actual cost after I find the receipt.

Re: Phantom costumes - real and replicas 1
Thanks phantomfett! I emailed the store to see if they ship out of the US and thankfully they do.
If I'm not being a pain, does anyone have a photo/scan of a swatch/scrap of that material that I could email to the store to show what I want? I'm guessing that, "Hi. I'm looking for Christine Dressing Gown fabric." isn't quite the way to order. lol
Have a good weekend everyone.

Thanks Lindsey. The paisley is the actual main part of the outfit and the other is the ruffle trim. Right?

Re: Phantom costumes - real and replicas 1
OK, I really did this some months ago, but I don't think I posted a picture of it:
The stomacher for the Aminta costume was re-vamped after I wore it in Copenhagen. I've added a dash of glittering red here and there, without it being too extreme. Now I'm pondering on what to do with mock lacing...
