Re: Raphael's Phantoons of the Opera
Work's actually progressing on the HTML version of the site. Have a div issue I'm trying to resolve on the page templates, but once that's fixed, it should be smooth sailing.

Re: Raphael's Phantoons of the Opera
Still having trouble with the coding of the HTML site. Could just be due to the only functioning browser on my system (FF 2.0), so I wanted to see if anyone else had problems with the layout.
http://www.phantoonsoftheopera.com/NEWlinks.html
When I test it in FF 2.0, the black border that is supposed to surround the complete content of the page only extends down as far as can be seen in the initially-visible browser window. Any content that extends beyond that (in this case, the links list) just keeps going and going and going. It looks as intended in Dreamweaver's preview window, but doesn't stand up to testing in a browser. And on the flip side, my copyright footer shows up off to the far right in the preview window, but shows up just above the bottom border where it's supposed to be when tested in a browser.
Anyone interested in helping out, have a peek at the page in the web browser of your choice and let me know what browser you viewed it in and any problems you found with how the page appeared therein. Oh, and ignore the links at the top of the page. They're placeholders until I get the rest of the HTML site up.
thanks,
R.

Re: Raphael's Phantoons of the Opera
In the latest version of Chrome, your copyright note is on the left, right across from the link to "Lessons from the Phantom of the Opera". The creamy coloured background extends as far as that same link and then the rest of the links have a black background.
In FF 3.0 it the cut off is instead at the link for "A Lamentable Mess".
In IE 8 it goes as far as the bottom of your description of the "Michael Crawford Phantom Movie Page".
Those comments are just for the test page you listed.
Your actual website works/displays fine on my machine.

Re: Raphael's Phantoons of the Opera
Your site works well for me, Raphael, and it's good to see everything again. I'm using Opera 10.
Re: Raphael's Phantoons of the Opera
Is that the Flash site or just this sample page, Riene?
Ok, so it definitely looks like a code issue. I'll play around with the structure to see if I can find a solution. Thanks!

Re: Raphael's Phantoons of the Opera
Raphael,
When I follow that link with Safari 4.0.3 on a Mac, I get this: https://2img.net/h/i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd253/loettchen/rlinkscan.png
Also, I can't get the Motn Animatic to work on any computer I have access to, and I downloaded the latest Flash and Quicktime versions. Most computers (both Mac and PC) won't load anything at all, and one PC says that the file or codec is not compatible. Any ideas? I'm dying to see it.

Raphael's Phantoons calendar is out, and it's gorgeous! I just ordered one.

Re: Raphael's Phantoons of the Opera
Thanks Anéa! I was going to ask you to see if it was appropriate for us to hock our tawdry wares here on the forum or not
Loettchen: The MotN animatic is a quicktime file, so it ought to work fine if you have the Quicktime player installed on your computer. I tried to embed it, but had too much trouble with that process. Once my computer's upgraded (hopefully by end of year), I should have all the most current programs and software available to troubleshoot the site.
In the meantime, I'm developing a no-frills HTML version of the site and will probably disable the animated intro to the flash site since that seems to be giving people a lot of trouble in accessing the site as a whole.

Re: Raphael's Phantoons of the Opera
The flash website's intro that seemed to be giving people trouble has been disabled, so check and see if that helps with accessibility to the site. Progress is still being made on a no-frills HTML version of the site, but I don't expect it to be completed until I have some downtime from work.
And thanks to those of you who have purchased copies of my calendar! I've sold ten so far and if sales are high, I'll start releasing more merchandise before the end of the year

Re: Raphael's Phantoons of the Opera
Got the calendar today. Luuuuving it! My absolute favourites are May (ha-ha!) and March. Diggin' June* and July too. July got me thinking "More Hannibal!". Your drawing style really suits the Hannibal design. I'm thinking Carlotta/Elissa and the slave master...
And a very random detail: I love how the Carlotta-Countess costume in April reflects the actual costume design and not the current US versions. I must admit I find the current US versions more ornamented and impressive, but it ain't what Maria Bjørnson designed (and it's also less historical). Cool detail, Raphael!
*The almost-open fly... Ha-ha-ha! Made me snort.

Re: Raphael's Phantoons of the Opera
Glad you liked the calendar, Anéa But ugh, Hannibal costumes are the bane of my existence, especially, when I'm doing these deluxe renderings of them that requires converting all the line art into different colors. I think I clocked twenty or thirty hours from thumbnail to finished piece on that one.operafantomet wrote:Got the calendar today. Luuuuving it! My absolute favourites are May (ha-ha!) and March. Oh, and Carlotta/Slave Master? Did that one already.
I credit that solely to not having very much photographic reference at the timeAnd a very random detail: I love how the Carlotta-Countess costume in April reflects the actual costume design and not the current US versions. How, where, when? Haven't seen that one! (I think...)Raphael wrote:Oh, and Carlotta/Slave Master? Did that one already.
Re: Raphael's Phantoons of the Opera
It's in draft form, but never released. If I do another pin-up calendar next year, maybe I'll revise/modify/finish it.

Re: Raphael's Phantoons of the Opera
Well, crap. Apparently all Zazzle users have had problems trying to control the dimensions of their prints. So until that issue is rectified, I guess I won't be releasing artwork in 8x10 format. I am, however, getting started on adapting some pieces into poster format, so I'm hoping to have a few of those up soon.

New year, same pimpin'.
"A Phantom Valentine" greeting cards are now available for sale. And I *think* I even allowed buyers to personalize the message inside or just buy them blank...

I want one. I have no one to give it to, but that doesn't change the fact that I want one.

Re: Raphael's Phantoons of the Opera
So during my regular Saturday night phanchat yesterday, I decided that I'd be releasing a 2011 calendar. Considering the monster of a project I'm currently working on as well as freelance assignments, I was almost 100% sure I was going to have to postpone making another calendar until 2012, but my friends and I figured out a way to minimize the workload and still come out with a product people might like.
Stay tuned here for when the calendar is available for purchase.

Re: Raphael's Phantoons of the Opera
I'm in the process of completely reconstructing my website to minimize the use of Flash (more portable device friendly that way, I hear). The galleries are functioning properly, as is the new index page. I'm currently weeding out dead links to defunct websites and laying out the shop page. I will have a limited number of slots for non-commissioned work at affordable prices (for those who can't cover my freelance commission rates).

My new website is up, Flash-free and fully functional. Word of warning, don't bother viewing it in the ever-unreliable Internet Explorer. Site looks and functions perfectly in all other major browsers, though, as well as on mobile devices as far as I can tell.

Re: Raphael's Phantoons of the Opera
You shouldn't. Might try clearing your cache or resetting your bookmark if you have one. The old site's been buried deeper into the server while the transition was taking place, so you shouldn't be able to still access it if you're using the main URL.Viscountess wrote:For some reason, I still get taken to the old site.
