London-Phan wrote:Ok guys I've been doing some searching and I went on Marcus Lovett's facebook page and there is lot of pictures of London that he's posting and his location when posting a status says London, which means he in london and he posted some pics of him getting a face cast done a couple of days ago and someone commented saying "phacial". So it looks like he's our new Phantom! How awesome is that, I can't wait!!
How did you find the right one on facebook? There are so many!

Thanks for the information! I love this production, and its outstretched hand toward diverse choices! We have an American Phantom, Portuguese and Aussie Christines....
I love old school Phantoms.... surely Lovett's performance will differ from last time... he's older, in a culturally very different decade, in a very different production (London and New York are not the same show, I stand by that). What a surprising choice!

Apparently the new Carlotta will be Portuguese aswell. Really looking forward seeing the new cast!

If anybody complains about Marcus as Phantom, I'm going to throw the Peter card at them.
I'm stanning for Marcus Lovett here and now.

Supporting/appreciating. Sorry, weird internet lingo.
I'm so excited right now. I seriously want the Raoul to be legit. They better be legit.

That is awesome news about Marcus. I wish the New York company would do something like that. In regards to Raoul, dear god please not Hadley Fraser.

Michael Shawn Lewis is wonderful, but would be too old for Raoul nowadays...he's in his early 40s. Still dashing, nonetheless!

Re: The London production 2
So it really is Marcus.
(I was so very much hoping for Simon Shorten to be promoted to principal, however unlikely the prospect was, I can't say I am not disappointed.)

Yeah.
I really hope who they get is charming and perfect. Weird as it is, I'm always holding out hope that Steve Barton's son would take the reins and play the role. He has a lovely voice.

What is Barton's son's name? I didn't realize he was a performer! I'd be curious to look him up.

I'm really looking forward to seeing Marcus Lovett as the Phantom. It'll be nice to see a different take on the role. Has anyone heard anything about the new Raoul and Carlotta? I had hoped that the understudies would get promoted as I liked them when I saw them.

Raoul could be Irish actor Ben Morris- Killian wished him luck on twitter and he announced that he began rehersals yesterday. Of course he could just be in the Ensemble

This is his son singing. I mean, it's a pop song, he has a nice voice and I'd like to see what he can do with it.

I can´t wait to hear the confirmation of the new cast. A good mix.
Can´t wait to hear that Anna is really the new alternate.

Re: The London production 2
An old-school Phantom returns? Interesting. And it seems LND actors are beginning to slip into the original show. I heard that in addition to O'Byrne going to London, another LND Australia Christine (understudy, I'm guessing?) is a Christine in Manila stop of the World Tour.

Anna O'Byrne was a Christine understudy in the original POTO before she did LND. I only found that out the other day.

Indeed, she was in the Australian tour; there's a picture of her in the Hannibal outfit going around tumblr lately.London-Phan wrote:Anna O'Byrne was a Christine understudy in the original POTO before she did LND. I only found that out the other day.

Re: The London production 2
Does anyone know if Anna is likely to be on as Christine on the first night of the new cast because although Monday is usually when the alternate performs, when it was Peter Jöbacks opening night (which was a monday) Sophia was on rather than Katy. Just asking because when I go I really want to see Anna on as Christine, but was thinking of going on the first night of new cast. Or maybe I could just wait until Sofia is on holiday.

Principal Christine tends to perform the first night of the new cast so you'd be best waiting until a 'normal' week to try see Anna or of course see her when Sofia has holidays.
I saw Simon in Legally Blonde and he had a really lovely voice. He also has a rather interesting look so I could see him being a bit of a dashing Raoul.

Hm... I know that at Cast Change this past year, that Katie Hall played the opening night of the 2011/12 contract (Monday) because she was new, and had been rehearsing most with the new Raoul. I theorize that Sofia played the Joback opening because they had been rehearsing together?

Re: The London production 2
Oh yes, sorry, I meant usually when it's a new Phantom and Raoul it is the principal Christine who performs the first night, cast change last year it was only a new Raoul and Christine alternate as John stayed until December. Likewise, Earl's first performance back was also Katie Hall as christine. If anyone is on twitter I'm sure Sofia would answer if you asked her if she planned to be on the first night of the new cast?

I am happy about the new cast. For me some new names. I´ll see how they are.
But most I want to see Anna as Christine and I think it´s possible. My chances are really good.

i'm just thrilled beyond belief, I just wish i could see them. I love anna in LND and it would be such a nice change to see a London phantom that probably will sing in the 'american' style of the role (I hope, less shouting, lol)
Re: The London production 2
I am happy about Marcus Lovett too..I remember him in Whistle down the Wind!

Does the 'American style' mean overuse of vibrato? If so, I'm not sure I'm going to like it. I did like Marcus in Whistle though. But generally I'm very excited at having a new London Phantom, especially one who is not of the 'young and sexy' ilk. I would like to see a new Christine; do we reckon Anna's there to be groomed into becoming the principal?
