Alas not too many pictures came out of the Madrid production. Part of the reason is that they published the strangest souvenir brochure, with full Spanish libretto, but almost none (and very odd) production photos. So most of those at hand is from newspapers, promos etc. There also seems to be a lot more of the alternates Juan Carlos Barona and Julia Möller than the principals Luis Armando and Felicidad Farag. Maybe because the latter were featured in the 2004 movie dub? Anyway:

It's so odd, Robin Botha is a very pretty girl, but she just doesn't photograph well in the role of Christine. I have yet to see a good picture of her in costume, but out of costume she da bomb. Very, very odd. Might be that her acting gestures are too... vivid for photos? Anyhow, a bunch of new "First Lair" pictures has been posted on the South African site, including the one above:

That is strangely true. Although, wasn't there a rehearsal picture of her in Hannibal get-up? I recall her looking good there. I think she was standing with Minaar... wasn't she? My memory may be deceiving me....

Callie, I'm not taking sides here.
Things were said at different times that were taken wrong. Anea pointed that out already in her comment above. Thus that is why I commented on the middle finger thing. It wasn't necessary after that.

We all should take some time before posting to think as to how things will come across. Like was stated early, someone might post something in honest fun and not mean it maliciously. However, with written word it's not always easy to tell how a post was originally intended to sound.

Perhaps we all should take time to refresh our minds reading the forum rules.

We don't have to agree with everything said and can have a reasonable discussion. Sometimes in the end we're just going to have to agree to disagree and just drop it and leave it alone.
If someone really feels offended at something, take it up with those of us who are moderating the forum. I'm not posting anymore on the subject as it's not on topic with any threads. Anyone is free to PM me if they wish to say something about this post.

That's true, she looks very good in that photo. She's in costume there, but not acting or otherwise posing in character.

As for something completely different... I can see why Gillian Lynne wanted Michael Crawford to keep the "slick". She told in an interview he did it mainly because he wasn't sure his wig was slick after removing hat and cloak. Something about the wig being less oily back then, so it frizzed easier. Gillian Lynne watched him and probably squeed, and asked him to do it again. And it's became a part of the standard blocking. I'm a fan.

It says a lot about Crawford that he could take what was essentially a practical gesture and make it such an eloquent expression of the Phantom's elegance and unconscious sensuality that it's become almost iconic.
