Gorgeous, simply gorgeous! The wedding dress....:-) Since I was little I wanted to be married in that dress and my wish came true last year. I had it recreated for me and felt like Christine that day. :-)

I love your collage though, it's great! But ahem...where is the Wishing gown? :-( Problem with Phantom, there are SO many wonderful costumes where do you start?!! :-)

I've made one for all Christine's costumes, except the Maid/Serafimo one (as the basis is the costume design, and I don't have that sketch). They can be found in my blog, here:

I've tried to use pictures of stage costumes I think stick close to either the details or the emotions of the sketches, and with a dash of closeups. But for example the closeup of the sleeve in the wedding dress one is just as much about the impact of Christine giving back the ring, as it is about the lace used. That said, I had no real system when making them, especially not the first ones (Star Princess, Slavegirl), so it's what I felt looked right there and then.

Very glad you liked them!

PS - anyone who's noticed Maria Bjørnson recycled Christine's face and pose from the Rooftop sketch into the Wedding dress (or opposite)? Cute.

Makes me wonder if Maria used her own croquis. Either way, I just fell in love with her a little more.

Seeing "The Piano" (1993) yesterday, I was amused to see a well known fabric show up... You guessed it, the Wishing fabric, this time in purple. It's worn by a Maori woman in a crinoline dress, and occurs several times in the movie. First time was ca. 45:55. The stripes of the fabric are used in a V shape following the shape of the bertha neckline. Rather recognizable. Alas I couldn't find a singe photo of it online.

Found these Amnita look-a-like shoes for about $40 USD. The site itself is pretty cool too for those fans of steampunk or other cool looking shoes.

Ooooh, they look pretty perfect, with lacing and semi-high heel and pointed toe! And I also like the fact that the brand is called "Funtasma". But I like the name in the link even more:

I have those boots! Bought 'em for my eventual Aminta dress (one day!) and used them for Meg Masquerade. I quite like them. The material is a bit cheap and tends to crease, but they're decently-priced, fit well, and look pretty good. I noticed that site's page doesn't mention that they are zip-up boots, though. Personally, I like it, since I'm just costuming, not historical replicating, and they're very easy to put on. But it does seem like something the store ought to mention, eh? Smile

How is the fit? I was thinking of ordering but am leery of them being too small. My street shoe is size 8 but my current boots I had to buy size 10.
Thanks for the note on them having a zipper.

My American shoe size is 8 (rarely 8.5) and I bought these in an 8. I was worried as well, because the reviews I read said the boot fits tight in the calf and to order one size up, but it fits me fine. I guess I would say I have average legs (not skinny, not too heavy) and the fit is snug on me but not uncomfortable. You can use the laces to adjust the fit a bit as well. Personally, I think the 9 would have been too big on me.

My main complaints would be the cheap material (but for $35...) and the fact that the tongues always slip out of place when I wear them. For the price, I've gotten a lot of use out of them. I wear them with Meg, Wishing, and Elissa.

If you want to see them in use, they appear in a few pictures here.

Agreed, both the dressing gown itself and the photo shot (and the wearer) looks fantastic. I hope you'll get a lot of money for it! It usually happens the last hour or so on eBay, so be patient.

I've finished the Hannibal slavegirl wristbands, which will be one of the winning items for the Masquerade singalong video. They're based on two slightly different versions from Hamburg, one pair which Phantomfett owns and one which is in my possession. The shape is identical, except I made the slightly bigger as the other ones are tiny. I mean, I have narrow wrists, but they're too small for me. The new ones are a bit bigger than my wrist, but I've only attached one of the pieces of the snap buttons, so the wearer can adjust the size themselves.

They're made of a buckram core with golden lurex on the fancy side and a green twill lining. Three gold appliqués has been sewn on, as well as lots of red and green gems. Picture:

Phantom costumes - real and replicas 1 - Page 24 Wristband7

More here: http://aneafiles.webs.com/slavegirl.html

Forgot to add, I'm also working on Meg's Masquerade hat. It's also one of the prizes in the Masquerade video project. I haven't made the actual hat myself, but I'm moderating and decorating it, and I think the result will be very cool! All year long I look for suitable "props" in stores like H&M, and whenever there's a sale I buy things dead cheap. The hat was such a find, and it was always meant for Meg's funky mini-top-hat. I just didn't know when or why to make it. The video contest is the perfect opportunity. I'm dressing it with a glittering sequin fabric (similar to the US Elissa tabs) and adding a lush band around the crown. Next up is the veil. I'm trying out a nice black tulle with fuchsia scrolls and silver dots. If this doesn't look right, I'll use a black tulle with black or fuchsia gems. Pictures are of course to come...

OK people, the Meg Masquerade hat it SUPER cute!

I used a small hat from H&M as a basis. It was made of a jeans material, so it was painted black with fabric paint, and dressed with a glittering sequin fabric. It took forever to dress it, but the finished result is neat. Next will be to drape a veil, and maybe add a band with buckle around the crown. Here's the hat while dressed and with try-on drape:

Major work has been done on the POTO costume gallery site. Biggest update is that I've tried to find a picture corresponding with the costume design for each sketch. The idea is to find a full shot picture where the costume embodies all or most ideas from the design, and also one where the person pose in a way echoing the design. Like this:

Phantom costumes - real and replicas 1 - Page 24 Th_porterPhantom costumes - real and replicas 1 - Page 24 Th_seamstressPhantom costumes - real and replicas 1 - Page 24 Th_madame

There's also been some general picture updates, and there's more to come: http://potocostumes.webs.com/

PS - there are especially two persons sending me good costume pictures ever so often. Luv ya gals! Smile

Does it say how long it'll be on display? And if pics is allowed? Couldn't find it on the page linked to, but maybe someone here are familiar with TSVC? God willing, I'll have some very few hours in NYC in mid August. Still working on that part....

I do have excellent pictures of the US version of Carlotta's BW dress. But the bodice of the one on display look a bit unusual. Great find, thanks for sharing!

I don't know how long it'll be there, but I stop in the Visitors Center a lot to check my e-mail or use the ladies room when I'm in the area. It's a large lobby-like area (I believe it WAS the lobby of an old theatre) with info kiosks for tourists, a row of slow computer terminals, and a little stage area where they do some events like radio broadcasts.

Given that most people are walking around there with their cameras, I wouldn't be surprised if you could get a photo or two. If I get down to the City in the next few weeks, I'll try to check it out.

I am very happy to hear that, Raphael. I love you

My blog of some 10 years (Livejournal) has been very wonky these last couple of months. It feels like it'll crash any time. There are long period of times I can't even access it, and the friend list comes and goes. And more often than not I cannot update. So I made a Facebook site as well/instead (haven't decided yet). I'll probably have semi daily updates on the topics "Italian 16th century" and "Phantom of the Opera costumes". If you think semi daily is too much, don't "like" the page... But if you want more costumes in your life, come join!

The Meg Masquerade hat (for the sing-along video competition) is done!

It has a draped veil in front, two bows + a hanging veil in the back, plus various "gems" and a cameo. It can be fastened both with a hair comb and an elastic band. And it's super cute!
