Hey guys, can I come out to stay with you and take loads of pictures of your POTO loot? I promise I won't steal

That turned out great!!! I love it!!! Yay! Thanks for posting the photo! (Think I may have too many exclamation points there. I do that sometimes...)
Did you end up going with the less creepy mannequin then? She looks like the less creepy one

Her face is less creepy, but she's flashing some thigh....That was my only hang up about this one.

If I had a nickel for every time someone said that about me... LOL! Sorry, j/k I just thought it sounded funny, that's all....
Seriously though, I think the fact that her face is softer makes up for the fact the her leg is slightly bent. Not much of her leg is showing, and really the costume is meant to have that movement so it's kind of nice to show that. Right? Well, my thoughts on it anyway - for whatever that's worth!

Re: Phantom costumes - real and replicas 1
Was poking around YouTube a bit and found this video from 2007, Australian production. Nice little spot about the costumes in the show. Monkey Girl, Masquerade Meg, a gorgeous Red Death costume, and others featured - plus a brief look at one of the nicest dual-gender costumes I've seen! Oh, and hosted by John Bowles, as well.

Wow! I'm actually very, very jealous, because you got a full Hannibal slavegirl ensemble there, with costume, scarf, wrist decorations and wig. And they're all European in style, which I'm partial to for this costume. And what a nice display! Very impressed (and jealous....).phantomfett wrote:A few shots of one old piece from my collection and a new ensemble:

I saw an intriguing garb thing in Florence, Italy:
Christine dressing gown gone terry cloth... For cold winter days?

Re: Phantom costumes - real and replicas 1
I seriously want that. It looks pretty AND cozy...and way nicer than my old red plaid bathrobe!

You're so productive! Brava. I love how the front of the bodice fits and how it curves. Looking forward to pictures of the two of you!
Re: Phantom costumes - real and replicas 1
Those all look great, LittleLotty! I especially like the Pirates one. And I can't wait to see the pictures of the two Christines!

As promised, I've worked on the dressing gown gallery and it's almost finished. Lacks pictures from the US and Hungary, and maybe some close-ups of the design, but I'll put it online very soon.

Re: Phantom costumes - real and replicas 1
Some actual progress on the new Wishing bodice. I haven't worked on it since before I went to London/Rome, but I never got around to take pics of it before I left:
Most seams are just stitched together; some are also sewn together. Love the shape in the back and at the sides, screwed up a tad in front, but I think it can be fixed. Still not sure on whether to move over the old sleeves or make new ones. Depends on whether I find the right trims, so I don't have to pick the other one apart.
But remaking old projects is horrible... Simply because once I start fixing one thing, I notice bunch of other stuff I want to fix too. And in the end I could might as well have made a brand new dress...

This does not give me much hope this year as I fix Red Death, Anea....

Re: Phantom costumes - real and replicas 1
Love the back, it's quite a masterpiece . I really love your backdrape as well. It's lovely.
Re: Phantom costumes - real and replicas 1
Anea, your new bodice looks beautiful! I love the way the stripes line up in the back! It has a very nice effect.
And, to avoid double-posting, some have already seen my doll, but I figured I'd post it here anyway. I made this as a Christmas present to a friend this year, in the hopes that it would inspire her to make a Christine Masquerade costume. I keep telling her to check out this forum!
For more pictures of it, go here:

The doll is, obviously, just a store-bought Barbie doll. I only made the outfit.

Re: Phantom costumes - real and replicas 1
So, I have been so inspired by you all and my recent trip to see the movie, 'The Young Victoria', that I have to make something!!!!! Don't know what yet, but I will make something. In my search for patterns and such I have stumbled on two great sites and this pattern for a skirt cage that would work perfectly for an Elisa skirt:
http://trulyvictorian.com/catalog/103.html
I figure between the two I can find something to do with my spare time.

Looking forward to the progress here! Do you have any specific inspirational pictures? The Truly Victorian site is a brilliant starting point, both for patterns, inspiration and forum help.meglett wrote:So, I have been so inspired by you all and my recent trip to see the movie, 'The Young Victoria', that I have to make something!!!!! As for me, I've finally started on the US Elissa costume for the Pink Ribbon campaign. Studied the tabs/spears last night, and figured out their main composition and what materials to use. Lots of geometrical figures, so I decided to cut out various pieces in red and mustard silk, attach them as appliquées, decorate them, and colour the outlines with green tube-applied fabric paint. Have also cut out the main shape of the tabs/spears in solid cotton.
The ironic thing is that while I planned this project I found lots of tablecloths, curtains and stuff in suitable green jacquard fabric. But when I went fabric hunting the other day - nada, zip, zero, null.
Note to self: buy when you find the perfect fabric, don't wait...

After watching Young Victoria, who can pick just one costume? I mean just look at all these wonderful costumes:operafantomet wrote:Looking forward to the progress here! I'm leaning toward the one in the carriage, the blue "presentation" dress, or the purple "concert" dress.

Oh lord yes! Take a pick! And that is not even my favourite period. But it looks gorgeous! The purple concert dress and the blue presentation dress is seriously droolworthy. Now I'm definitely looking forward to follow your progress.
Re: Phantom costumes - real and replicas 1
I just got some black mesh fabric with pink sparkly polka-dots and it's just going somewhere on my Meg costume. Which I will totally start working on again... eventually.

OK, OT for a second...I seriously want that green dress...second picture, second row.

That's one is what she wears the first time she meets Albert.Paula74 wrote:OK, OT for a second...I seriously want that green dress...second picture, second row.
Yea, sorry for being OT, but between the Victorian patterns (both early and late) and the movie, I had to share my enthusiasm. I just got the kit for the hoop skirt for a Phantom replica and I'm already half way through constructing it. I'm so excited!

I know it's not a Phantom costumes but I think any costume talk is interesting. Can't wait to see how these pieces turn out for you.

Progress on the tabs for the new Elissa costume! Or rather, one... But I got to try out my idea on how to make the decorations, and I like the result.

Re: Phantom costumes - real and replicas 1
Looks like another masterpiece in the works with that Elissa costume. And what a great idea to use it to raise funds for breast cancer research.
I doubt I'd win it but it would be awesome to have it to go with my Hannibal Slave Girl costume. I'll certainly try.
On your website you state that you may also make the Slave Girl costume to go with the skirt. If you do that and by some miracle I actually win the auction, I would be willing to just accept the skirt and let you re-auction the Slave Girl part to raise even more funds.
