Re: Souvenir brochures
I'm desperately looking for any West End brochure from between 1997 and 2000. I have the October 1996 one (the 10th anniversary with golden cover), and the next in my series is the July 2000 one with Scott Davies and Charlotte Page.
The gap is especially noticeable now that I'm trying to make complete lists + post pictures of each lead role in the West End these last 25 years. The 97-00 gap is always causing troubles... So: anyone up for a trade? Wanna sell? Or, if nothing else, scan pictures and eventual cast list?

Hey operafantomet,
I have the West End brochure from 1999 with Mike Sterling, Charlotte Page, and Gardar Thor Cortes...here's the link to my website page with a picture of the cover and inside. Not sure if it's one your looking for but if it is, I'd be willing to do a trade or sell!

Re: Souvenir brochures
Oooh, I am very interested! If I remember correctly, I have two of a slightly later brochure: Dec. 2000, with Scott Davies - Deborah Dutcher (Claire Louise Hammacott) - Matthew Cammelle. Would you be interested in a trade?

I actually have one that is probably just about the same...it's from 2001 and has John Own-Jones, Deborah Dutcher, and Matthew Cammelle. Hmmm....any others you have doubles of?
Oh, you have the new 2010 brochure for London, correct? I have an extra one and am selling it on Ebay but wanted to ask you in case you don't have that one either. I could have sworn Scorp got that one for you though!

OMG OMG gasp gasp! I have wanted this one for quite awhile now!!!!!!!! I'm totally up to trade my 1999 West End for the 10th anniversary one!!!!
Re: Souvenir brochures
That's awesome! I think he 10th anniversary one was the original generic brochure, to celebrate the general fame of Phantom, while celebrating 10 years in London. So you've probably seen the generic content before (same as the US generic ones), but they have added an extra cover with golden proscenium close-up, a full cast list + full number list on inside cover, plus two pages with lovely pictures of the current cast.Devon wrote:[OMG OMG gasp gasp! I'll wrap it up right away and send it to you.

operafantomet wrote:I got the "Alles über das Phantom der Oper" in the mail today, and I must say I'm a happy camper. It is lovely!
The structure and some chapters are identical to the English original (no surprise, as this is "only" a German edition), but the Viennese production photos and the Viennese libretto is unique. Ditto for some backstage and rehearsal photos. And surprise-surprise: Michael Le Poer Trench IS the photographer for the book. I have to reconsider my dislike for his work, cause the book pictures are lovely.
The book is hardcover, and not in the best of shape, but I am so happy to finally have gotten my copy of this book I'll ignore the wear-and-tear....
It's a great book. There are some nice backstage photos. I had no idea Le Poer Trench was the photographer and had photographed Phantom before. The irony is there are MORE production pics at the back -- and better ones too -- than in the Vienna souvenir brochure.
The chapter on the actual production isn't the same as in the Perry book, of course, since it focuses on the run-up to the Vienna première and not the London show. Includes some interviews with the leads too, which are interesting to read. Goebel calls Crawford a "genius".
Re: Souvenir brochures
Yes, that is the real tragedy - the book has lovely and many photos. The brochure mostly have grainy pictures from odd angles. Only two or three is identical in the book and the brochure (the "Down once more", where both Christine and the Phantom are mere shadows, comes to mind). I both wonder how the quality of photos taken by the same photographer could vary so much, and also who picked the photos for the brochure... Maybe it was deliberate, to make people buy the book instead?Scorp wrote:I had no idea Le Poer Trench was the photographer and had photographed Phantom before. Alas, I found no pictures of Raimund Theater with the Phantom logo.
Speaking of Le Poer Trench, I saw his name pop up in one of the Aussie brochures as well. So it seems he's photographed Phantom at more occasions.
Brochures on Ebay
About a half an hour left on the lot of 3 Phantom brochures I'm selling on Ebay. Snag it while you can!

Seeking Mexican/Spanish/Swedish POTO Souvenir Brochure!!
I still have some POTO souvenir programs I'd like to scratch off my list. For some reason, I can NEVER find the Mexican or Spanish POTO brochures or the Swedish. I have looked and looked...maybe they are getting snagged off Ebay while I'm sleeping but...LOL
Was wondering if anyone has one of these they would be willing to part with? I don't have a brochure to trade with but I would pay via PayPal! Either write me here or PM me.
Thanks!!

I do have the Madrid one but at present I think I want to hold onto it. It does come up from time to time on eBay. I am very interested if anyone has any pointers on how to get hold of the Swedish one, that's been one of my wants for some time.
Re: Souvenir brochures
Best advice I have is to keep an eye on the Swedish branch of eBay. It's called http://www.tradera.com , and various items from the Stockholm productions (the cast album, singles, stickers, brochures etc) has been listed there in the past. Search for "Phantom of the Opera", "Operafantomen", "Fantomen" and even the names of the leads. Beware that if you search for "Fantomen", tons of merchandise for the comic book hero Fantomen will also show up... He looks like this and has nothing to do with the Opera Phantom....Scorp wrote:I do have the Madrid one but at present I think I want to hold onto it. It does come up from time to time on eBay. I did a search on Tradera right now, and at present there don't seem to be any Operafantomen items there. But check regularly, and you might get lucky. There's also a forum called http://www.musikal.net/index.html where Scandinavian musical nerds hang, as well as some working in the business. I posted an open request for stuff from the Swedish POTO there once, and one generous soul sent me a brochure, stickers and two buttons from Oscarsteatern. Might be worth a shot!

First post. Yay
That would probably be Cris Gronendaal if it was the 7th of March, 1990. Steve Barton took over the role March 19th. It's probably a generic brochure from June 1989 with a B&W insert with the headshots, would be my guess..(Either sad or scary I know that)

December 1991 (Peter Polycarpou, Shona Lindsay and John Barrowman)
November 1996 (Simon Bowman, Megan Kelly, Alasdair Harvey)
November 1997 (Peter Cousens, Myrra Malmberg, Mike Sterling)
I still lack brochures for 1992, 1998, 2001 and 2002, but otherwise the list starts to look complete. Any other good buys tonight (well, it's night here anyway)?

Re: Souvenir brochures
I bid on some of those, but as I wrote it was not a matter of life and death. I enjoy hunting for Phantom brochures, so it would not be fun to complete the collection totally and not have any more to search for! Haha. I decided that if I bid on 6-7 different ones, I should at least win one or two. It was pure serendipity. So Scorp, extra spooky these were your three first casts!! Sorry for outbidding you, though... You can come to Norway and see it anytime... no?MasqPhan wrote:Ah so we didn't bid on any of the same items.operafantomet wrote:

I think everyone understands English over at musikal.net. You can post an open request in a new thread ("Skriv nytt inlägg" in upper left corner), about what you're looking for and how you eventually want to pay/trade. I think I wrote that I looked for everything sans the cast recording from the Swedisn production, and that I was up for a trade, but could also pay people. Make it as easy as possible for others to help you out.Devon wrote:Thanks for all the advice and links to the sites! When you click the "Skriv nytt inlägg", you have to fill in name, email address, title and your post. You also need to fill in the capthca. The press "Publisering" in the lower left corner. The site now asks if you want to go back to main site or read your new post.
Hope that helps!

Another good buy: "Complete POTO" in hardback, a 1988 West End brochure with Willetts/Moore/Ball, and a UK tour program from 2000 featuring Sterling/Dutcher/Lake. Starting price is £6.49 (but it seems this seller also only ships within the UK):

I know *someone* here collects Peter Karrie stuff. Here's a West End brochure from 1993 which should feature Peter Karrie and either Shona Lindsay or Jill Washington (cast change happened ca. august). Low starting price, £0.99. But again, only UK shipping:

VERY pretty Hamburg brochure, quadratic and with awesome photos. It's the early version of the one with Schulze/Thomas on the cover, in the boat scene. Pictures taken from unusual angles, and lovely closeups. Also comes with a cast program. Current price €1, but no PayPal, and shipping within Germany:
