Seriously snarky PotO-movie reviews--Now With Commentary!
In the tradition of the Phantom Reviewer and similar folks, I've been creating some video reviews of awful musicals. Which means a couple subjects relevant to the interests of this community were bound to come up eventually. So here's the first: my commentary on the much-reviled Joel Schumacher film. Enjoy!

SERIOUSLY SNARKY POTO-MOVIE REVIEWS
I loved it!!!! Who better to provide such a funny and insightful commentary? (happily flings flowers everywhere) Brava!
You know.....I wonder what the Les Miz movie would've been like if Joel had done it. (retches)

I agree -- Well Done, LadyCDaae!!!
I so enjoyed your excellent video review -- you totally nailed it! I agree with everything you said about that horrid film.
I was wanting someone to do a good video review (and by good I mean an intelligent and well-edited review in which the reviewer would rip the film a new one) of this movie, so thank you, LadyCDaae! You certainly accomplished that! In fact, I think your video review is worthy of ThatGuyWithTheGlasses and the Nostalgia Chick.

And here's the inevitable companion piece, my rant on Love Never Dies. Be warned--if you saw my last video (or any of the gazillion comments I've made on the subject), you know there will not be much kindness here. However, there is a snippet of a wonderfully filthy "Beneath a Moonless Sky" parody penned by Raphael (which is NSFW, and also a bit of a strain on my range for which I apologize).

Ah, I wasn't sure if you were going to do a video review of LND, but I'm glad you did. Thank you, LCD, for this very appropriate review (appropriate in that you insightfully and intelligently ripped this God-Awful musical a new one)! While I didn't necessarily agree with ALL you said in your review, I definitely agreed with about 98% of it. I'm just glad someone (esp an accomplished and intelligent Phan like yourself) put together a review of LND that just nails it for what it is -- an absolutely horrid excuse for a musical and one that's a complete and total INSULT to the original POTO and its characters!
So thanks SO much once again, LCD...and I look forward to your future video reviews. Keep 'em comin'!

Thanks! For my non-PotO related stuff, you can check out my blog or my Blip channel. New stuff gets posted about every couple weeks.

Yeah, I visit your MusicalHell site often, and I've watched some of your other video reviews (and read your blog entries) -- great stuff! I esp liked a recent "Know The Score" video review you did on the music of Fraggle Rock.

Great review, LCD. I agree wholeheartedly on all points... except maybe for choosing to use the tamest verse in my song parody

What can I say? I didn't trust myself to sing "Dirty Sanchez" without giggling like an immature teenager. Actually, it was a combination of that and not knowing just how far I could push Blip's ratings and erring on the side of caution. I figured I was already pressing my luck with that porno cover.

Ahhhhhh, this was another masterpiece! And hey, we know you can write a sequel! This was the last straw in terms of any respect I had for ALW's judgement. I've never seen LND, except for bits on Youtube and this review. And I never will - it's a craptacular slap in the face to POTO. And that's why this review is just perfect!

Because one half-hour is not nearly enough to get through all my fan gripes, I've recorded a commentary track for my 2004 film review. Enjoy!

Great video commentary, LCD! I esp liked what you said about why you don't refer to the Phantom as Erik. And I totally agree with you on that!
I hope you'll be doing commentary on your LND review too.

Re: Seriously snarky PotO-movie reviews--Now With Commentary!
I plan on it, but there's no set schedule for "when"--commentaries are something I do when one thing or another has put a crunch on my schedule and I need to buy back some breathing space.
On the plus side, I do have something else coming up in the near future that may be of interest to the community...

And putting this here because it's semi-relevant--I did a crossover with another web show where we discussed the subject near and dear to all of our hearts. It's pretty basic on the information level, so we focus mostly on the musical with side trips to the novel and the Chaney film. Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy.

Thanks, LCD, for posting this! Good job on this video -- well done! I enjoy an entertaining analysis of Erik's character.

You asked for it, so here it is--a commentary track for the Love Never Dies episode. Collaborators praised! Inside jokes revealed! Extra ranting included!

Yay!!!
And thank you, LadyCDaae...I just finished watching it, and loved your commentary! Great stuff! And I do get how very cathartic it was for you to do these reviews and commentaries.
On a side note, I also liked your video of favorite songs from the Muppets. I'm a longtime Muppets fan, so I really enjoyed that one.

Re: Seriously snarky PotO-movie reviews--Now With Commentary
OMG! Just checked out your reviews of the Gerik and LND. Love them! Bloody awesome! Haven't gotten around to listening to the commentaries yet, but can't wait!
And I have to say I didn't know that about the Phantom in LND threatening Gustave, because that's not on the soundtrack (no, didn't buy it, some one gave it to me). But WTF? I actually kind of liked some of the songs before from Ramin and Sierra's performances on the soundtrack. But Wow! Learning that little detail from your reviews sent this musical right into the trash-bin! Btw. Who the hell are the people singing in the clips you played? Yikes!
LOL And loved the spoof of Beneath A Moonless Sky! OMG! Bloody fabulous!
