Re: The London production 2
RUG's Phantom of The Opera page on Facebook announce that they will put up some new pictures from the London production 2010, expected to show up next week. Hopefully this means that the new brochure will be out soon.
Re: The London production 2
Awesome that they're doing that for those of us who aren't in London or are too cheap to buy the brochure online.

Am I understanding my Twitter feed correctly? Miss Gina Beck returning to Phantom tonight?

Yes, it's true. How I wish it were for more than just a sickness cover. We really miss her.

Re: The London production 2
Hats off to one of our orchestra originals. I have a deep respect for those who have been playing in the pit since opening night in 1986:

Re: The London production 2
Apparently both Sofia Escobar and Tabitha Webb are off sick, so Katy Treharne is the sole Christine on the house. Hence Gina Beck got an urgent call... I wish for speedy recovery on both Escobar and Webb, but I love having Gina Beck back...PMB1034 wrote:Am I understanding my Twitter feed correctly? Miss Gina Beck returning to Phantom tonight?

So we're openly commenting on this wine now?
Yeah, JOJ's face does look a little like Little's in the mask, but more than anything, he reminds me of Ricky Gervais, which I think I've said before.

AAAAARGH! A favourite Phantom, a favourite Christine and a strong Raoul; I think I would have died from the talent overload had I been there that night! Would that Miss Beck came back permanently...
Anyone know if the new brochures are out yet?

Is this JOJ and Gina? I just fear to be mistaken.

Re: The London production 2
It's JOJ for sure, but I think that might be Sofia Escobar. Great high-def pic, though.
Re: The London production 2
I wanna say Sofia Escobar too, but I'm not a 100% sure.Klavirista wrote:Is this JOJ and Gina? I just fear to be mistaken.
Re: The London production 2
Ya, it's Sofia. I don't think they'd photograph JOJ & Gina together when she was just understuding.

She wasn't understudying--she was just an emergency fill-in. I wonder if this pic is from the new brochure.Callie Daae wrote:Ya, it's Sofia. I don't think they'd photograph JOJ & Gina together when she was just understuding.
Re: The London production 2
Ya, fill in or understudying for one night, same difference.

Re: The London production 2
I agree, I would be surprised if it was Gina Beck seeing how she just covered the role for a couple of performances. I would assume it's from the new brochure, with JOJ/Escobar. Speaking of which, is the new brochure still not out?? Cast change was over three months ago. C'mon!
ETA: JOJ actually reminds me of Flemming Enevold in that photo...

Re: The London production 2
Wow, I cannot believe this still exists... I used to be active on Phansonline under the same name aaaaaaaages ago. But RUG notified me that JOJ was coming back as Phantom in the London production and even as a hibernating fan I cannot miss that. I want to go see the London show in January, but as it's rather far away from where I live, I want to be sure that I catch JOJ and not the alternate. (who is the alternate these days by the way?) Is there anyone who knows what the dates for the alternate are, so that I know when I can catch John Owen-Jones?
I apologize in advance if it has been discussed in one of the 70 pages of this topic, but I don't really have the time or energy to go through all of that. So if anyone has this information and is willing to share, it would be greatly appreciated!

Re: The London production 2
Hi and welcome!!
In London the Phantom usually do all 8 performances a week. There is a standby Phantom, in case stuff goes wrong, and also an understudy or two. But they don't have any scheduled performances. So you have a good chance of catching JOJ in the role, unless he's off sick.

Re: The London production 2
I was at the New Year's Day evening performance yesterday. All principal's except Liesl Dowsett as Meg and the stellar Oliver Eyre as Raoul. 4th time seeing the show & the best performance I've seen, everyone was firing on all cylinders and electrifying. Great experience as a punter too; box office/theatre staff were all lovely and polite (first time that's been the case) & any 'issues' with the audience were efficiently and quickly sorted...don't want to go again for a while because this one can't possibly be topped.
The New Brochure is now out:
- Still £5
- Front cover is like the current purple poster with, 'The Brilliant Original' strap-line above the mask.
- Red Death on the back cover.
- Lots more new pics than the last one, but any pictures that could be re-used WERE re-used (Managers, Tabitha Webb, Rebecca Lock's back in Hannibal).
- Scott is represented this time, with a tiny pic on the second to last page.
- Pic of Christine holding the mask on the last page.
- Only big change really is lake dbl. spread other than that, same layout /pull out lyrics / text (couldn't we get something new to read?; interview with Phantom alumni, period/contemporary review, Michael Coveney musing..something).

Re: The London production 2
John Owen Jones has no holidays in January so you should be able to see him.
Also, I've never seen Oliver Eyre as Raoul, never really had the urge to but good to hear he is good. Will is out with an injury after an onstage mishap which is such a shame. I always find it awful when people want to be on stage but they can't be.
I really like the new brochure, it's more interesting than the last one anyway.

Do you know if JOJ has any holiday in February?
Or what dates he has booked would be even better!
Thanks
