Sad to say the star of the 1983 Phantom has died - link to the Variety article here.

I realised that I saw him perform in a not-so-great (actually, it was dire) play by Arthur Miller that was premiered posthumously at the Old Vic in London. Not Mr Schell's finest hour, but that wasn't his fault...and I'm glad I got to see him.

We seem to have lost quite a few Phantom stars in recent years, including Herbert Lom and Susannah Foster.
