POTO 2013 Wall Calendar
Hi fellow phans!
I found the 2013 POTO Wall Calendar for sale on the Calendars.com website
www.calendars.com
...and here's the description they give:
"Phantom of the Opera Wall Calendar: The Phantom of the Opera, Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical phenomenon, tells the tragic love story of Christine, a beautiful opera singer, and The Phantom, a young composer shamed by his physical appearance into a shadowy existence beneath the majestic Paris Opera House. The original production is still playing at Her Majesty's Theatre in London, where it opened in 1986, and on Broadway. In 2011 The Phantom's story was continued in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Love Never Dies."
Hmm...so not only do they feel they have to mention LND...but now the Phantom is a *young* composer?!
*Groan*
Well, aside from that, the calendar does look really nice...and I think it includes a photo (or two) from PLV (AC's Phantom is pictured). I think I'm going to get this calendar.

Re: POTO 2013 Wall Calendar
I wouldn't read too much into it. I remember a promotional flyer I got in London back in the early 90s called him a "young" composer, too. In fact, the first half of that quote sounds exactly like the flyer text.

Yeah, they've been trying to age him down since before the movie--although unless I'm mistaken the casting notice still lists either 30s-40 or 30s-50s, so go figure.

I've seen that "young composer" description a few times, too. Including in TV listings for the movie.
Re: POTO 2013 Wall Calendar
Ah, okay -- so it's been seen before. Well, it was the first time I had ever seen that description, and it just set my teeth on edge!
We all know the Phantom is a middle-aged composer, not a young composer. Wish other people knew that too.

Aren't you a Ramin fan?NightRachel wrote:Ah, okay -- so it's been seen before. Well, it was the first time I had ever seen that description, and it just set my teeth on edge!

Yes, I am a fan of Ramin's Phantom....somehow I can overlook the fact he's in his early 30s because I found his portrayal of Erik to be convincing enough, and I enjoyed it a lot.
Though, to be honest, I'd still *prefer* the actor portraying Erik to be in his 40s like Michael Crawford was (or even 50s like James Romick was). But I make allowances for Ramin.
But bottom line -- Erik *himself* is not a young composer...he's supposed to be a middle-aged one! If an actor like Ramin, who's not himself middle-aged, can convince me he's playing a middle-aged character, then I'm okay with that. But to say Erik himself is young during the events of POTO -- that's just wrong.

Re: POTO 2013 Wall Calendar
I was lucky enough to find this calendar at our local mall! That's a first...lol So I purchased it at the calendar store. As usual like the other one's, the pictures are gorgeous with wonderful atmosphere. However, I noticed that some of the pictures are repeats of the 2012 and 2011 calendars. That's my only negative. For a phan though, it's a must have! :-)
Re: POTO 2013 Wall Calendar
I noticed that the 'Go! games' in the mall, linked with the calendar stand/store is selling not only that calendar but the phantom puzzle again. Both would be fantastic additions!
