Notification emails

Seems like Forumotion has changed something in their coding. Now people automatically get email notifications on topics they've posted in. This is kinda annoying, isn't it?

There's little I can do to turn it off for all members. However, there are two things you can do yourself:

1. When you're about to reply on a topic, look at the five boxes under the field where you write:
Disable BBCode in this post
Disable Smilies in this post
Attach signature (signatures can be changed in profile)
Notify me when a reply is posted
Delete this post

Untick the "Notify me when a reply is posted", and hopefully the forum will remember it.


2. Go to your profile under the wonderful "Deserted Phans" banner. Choose the tab "Topic(s) being watched". There you'll see all the topics the forum has listed you as watching. Click on the box(es) to the right, and then click "Stop watching the selected topics". Confirm with "yes" when they ask if you really want to do that.


If you're happy about the change, hooray! You don't have to do anything.

I've been getting those for a while, just never bothered to turn them off.

I started getting thim because I accidentally clicked the "Watch this topic.." link that's at the bottom of each thread (under the page numbers).

You can just click the same link ("Stop watching this topic") to turn them off on any particular thread they're enabled in...

Thanks for the heads-up! I was wondering why I was getting e-mail notifications all of the sudden... (I love you guys, but my inbox is cluttered enough as is.)

OK, a permanent solution to get rid of the endless line of notification emails is this:

Go to "profile" under the forum banner. Choose "preferences". Click "no" on "always notify me of replies". Remember to click "save" at the bottom of the page!

Now the forum should automatically unclick you from watching all topics.
