Ballet, Anyone?
I thought it was fun to start a Ballet thread,
First in honor of our Lady of Dance, Jillian Lynne,
and 2nd to honor our Meglett, our Meg Giry,
also my first major celebritie, performer that I had a crush on, Mikhail Baryshnikov, my favorite Male Ballerina of all time. I remember seeing him for the first time on PBS, I had never seen someone jump so high or leap so far, not only he was beautiful to look at, he was moving and glowing,
I never got to see him live, but just to be able to see him in video, was cool.
I also remember during the time when Baryshnikov was at his peak, he ushered in a "Princes Liberation" where the Princes, or Barons, or whomever he played tended to usurp the Prima Ballerinas. and he indeed had ushered this new era of male dancer, not that Nuryev or Najinski had'nt, Mikhail had made it his way.
