Re: Les Misérables
Just bought my ticket for Les Mis at the Barbican. Wow, pricey, but I guess it's worth it Looking forward to it already
Re: Les Misérables
So, I noticed that next year the 25th Anniversary Les Miserables tour will be in Detroit. I want to see it (and I'm taking my father, too). Is there any rumors yet on who's going to be a part of this awesome thing? Hard as it may be, and sad to even dream, I wish they [current London tour] was coming to the States.
Or at least, the best from Broadway's Les Miserables does the tour. I'd rather see Colm than Randal Keith.

Re: Les Misérables
All of the current cast members contracts are until this October, I would expect if it were possible they will be asked to stay with the show and take it to America though.

Oh I hope. My father just survived a liver transplant, and damn, I want nothing more than for him to see JOJ or Les Miserables in general onstage with me (it's his fav musical). So I'm totally crossing my fingers that they will.

How do you know where it'll be playing in the US? The official site still lists only European dates.

That's how I get to see what's going to be appearing for the 2011 touring season in Detroit. (As you can see, I also get Mary Poppins! AHHH!)

Re: Les Misérables
The first still only lists Ft. Lauderdale; the second lists no American dates. I guess venues that have booked it are announcing it when they announce their next season, but they're probably still in the process of booking a full tour, so CamMac won't announce all the dates until that is complete. The next season for one of my local theaters, where I saw Phantom in December, isn't getting it, sadly. Hopefully another one will.operafantomet wrote:Try these links:SenorSwanky wrote:How do you know where it'll be playing in the US? The official site still lists only European dates.

Re: Les Misérables
Is there anywhere I can see the Oliviers performance?
Just booked tickets to see it at the Barbican as a follow-up to seeing it in Paris. Prices are very steep, so I chose the cheapest out of the bunch! £15 seats here I come, lol.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/breakfast/8596812.stm - great interview with JOJ with bits from the EPK of the tour -- anyone know how to record it as a video file?

Re: Les Misérables
He gives a very good interview. With his Welsh accent and humor, I couldn't help but think of Spike from Notting Hill.

Aye, he's Welshed it up a bit since I last heard him speak at length. By the end of his time in Phantom his accent was very diluted!

Re: Les Misérables
I love the EPK but hey, we don't get to hear any singing from Javert? Looking forward to see this production so much.

Ah, I should have booked for the same show at the Barbican! I'm seeing it there on 17 Sep I think (?), what about you? You in London now?
Re: Les Misérables
According to die-hard fans, there'll be a lot more Javert/Earl in the anniversary tour EPK.EarlFan wrote:I love the EPK but hey, we don't get to hear any singing from Javert? Looking forward to see this production so much.

Haha, I'm booked for the 17th! Yes, I'm finally in London to stay for a year. We should meet up someday.
Re: Les Misérables
Double awesome! We will have to meet up at the Barbican then before the show or after. Nice coincidence!
Already moved to London then?

Yes, I'm working here at the moment so the plan is to stay in London for at least a year or two.

Has the cast been announced for the new US tour?

Re: Les Misérables
How much did they change the show for the anniversary tour? I saw pics from the tour in London and Cosette has blonde hair now? I'm kinda bummed because the 25 anniversary US tour is coming to my state next year and I would like to see the show how it was originally designed.

Re: Les Misérables
Looks like they could book other places between Millburn and Philly, Cleveland and Fayetteville, and Fayetteville and Salt Lake City, and probably two between Ft. Lauderdale and Baltimore. But as of now, the closest to me is Baltimore, which is probably 4-5 hours away by car. A day trip if you see a matinee, but a long one.
Callie Daae: If you read back through the previous pages of this thread, you'll see reviews and descriptions of the tour's staging, at least as it stands in Europe. It's quite different from the original staging in many places, particularly the opening scene, which has an entirely different setting.

Re: Les Misérables
Phantom tickets being hard to come by, I've seen a bit of Les Mis lately and Lorraine Bruce as Mme. Thenardier really stands out. Half dreadnought, half chav, half innumerate. She reminds me so strongly of the women I grew up amongst in Glasgow, matriarchal tyrants, irresistible.

Re: Les Misérables
Bloody hell... (yes, I wrote that). According to a newspaper, Det Norske Teatret (which housed the original Norwegian Les Miserables production back in the late 80s) will sell various Les Mis costumes in their grand costume sale this Saturday. Count me in!! Although... they're selling thousands of outfits and props, and it'll be hard to single out the Les Mis ones in the sea of garbs and people. It'll be a cat fight for sure. But I'll do my best...
They're also selling lots of stuff from my fav. musical "Which Witch", but as the costumes from their production was a big Z-Z-z-Z-z-z, I don't think I'll bother. It depends on the price, really.

Re: Les Misérables
"grand costume sale" sounds nice Wish I could be there to buy a lot of costumes and props, hope you will find anything worth buying
Re: Les Misérables
I saw the Les Mis tour on Wednesday night. The set is completely different (and in my opinion doesn't always work) but the cast on the whole were strong and put in some good performances.

Re: Les Misérables
I'll do my best. Will study the Oslo brochure and try to memorize some of the costumes. They used the original design, and of course I have a good idea of some of them, but I don't know what they've put up for sale. 3 hours left...EarlFan wrote:"grand costume sale" sounds nice Wish I could be there to buy a lot of costumes and props, hope you will find anything worth buying
Dolly-ry, looking forward to hear more about your thoughts on the revamped tour. Especially about the sets and the cast!
Re: Les Misérables
False alarm... No Les Mis costumes there whatsoever. Luckilly the head-of-costume-depart was there, and I got to ask her about it before I started strolling through some 30+ racks. She also said they had nothing left of the costumes, as everything was sold to Sweden when Les Mis closed in Oslo.
HOWEVER, their chairs and tables from "Empty chairs on empty tables" was for sale, and so cheap! NOK 1400,- (you do the math) for table and 5 chairs, and from an original Les Mis production. I wanted to buy it sooo badly, but since I live in a shoebox and don't have a lot of money, I just couldn't.
I did, on the other hand, get to buy a beautiful Victorian underskirt with pleated hem, wool breeches, a black silk shirt with ruffles in front, and a large (somewhat useless) black robe. The latter was almost free, and gave me lots of nice black fabric, which will probably end up in the Elissa underskirt.
And I got the Executioner shirt from their "Which Witch" production for free.
