Let me just say, I can't believe you told him that I thought he was amazing. O_o
Secondly, do you remember what he said to me at the stage-door? Scorp and I went to the stage door and when he came out and came over to us, he was hardly saying anything to us. So I thought he was upset because I brought up that he was my Marius when I saw Les Miserables back in 2003. He then replies that he was 'saving his voice' so he couldn't talk much. I think Scorp made a comment that, if he was singing the role correctly he shouldn't need to save his voice.
God, that production was a mess. Pilate was my favorite. Enough said.

I never said that! At least I don't remember saying it. And certainly not to his face!
But yeah, I agree, the production wasn't that great. But neither was the 2000 production. Tony Vincent's Judas was like a Backstreet Boy.

You didn't say it to his face, you said it to me when he moved off to sign more autographs.

I so didn't say that. I know nothing about whether he ought to save his voice or not.
I do remember saying (not to him) that I didn't like his singing. Which he will probably know now if he's one of those actors who Googles himself...
Re: Jesus Christ Superstar
Well, he has a ton of fans. So, he won't care. (Hopefully.)
Are they releasing a cast album for this version? I did enjoy Tom Hewitt, and I would like his bits preserved somewhere (officially).

Re: Jesus Christ Superstar
Doubt there'll be a cast recording, especially now as the show is going to close in 11 days' time unless business improves. Can't say I'm surprised about the brevity of the run; there were a lot of empty seats when I went in early May and the show had only been open for a month and a bit. It's just not the amazing revival that ALW claims it to be. I think the Broadway transfer was rushed with too little thought put into it.

Well, it was a 'Stratford' production. Stratford productions aren't really well known for being 'Broadway' caliber shows. To me, their productions are just passable for a run in Stratford. I don't think Tim Rice cared for it as much as he did for the Evita revival. I guess I have to be 'bad' to get my Tom Hewitt fix. Shame.

Re: Jesus Christ Superstar
I recently purchased the 1992 Australian cast recording after hearing so much about it online. WHOA, it's like JCS on heroine. That's all I can say at the moment. The title song is great on this, though I'm not so sure about what they've done to slower numbers like 'I Don't How to Love Him'.

Re: Jesus Christ Superstar
The reporters and copywriters at the Daily Mail must have a contest on who can write the longest, clunkiest, and most sensational headline.
Re: Jesus Christ Superstar
I read a few months ago that the Daily Fail's website now gets more visitors from the US than any other news website (not that I consider the Daily Fail "news"), including that of the New York Times. This is most worrying.
Re: Jesus Christ Superstar
I'm a little skeptical of that, but I wouldn't be surprised if they at least rival NYT and other sources. They print a lot of celeb gossip and political sensationalism. My company gets covered in it quite a bit.
Re: Jesus Christ Superstar
(O/T)
Yeah it's the celeb stuff. Either way it's an awful paper, full of nonsense articles, made-up stories and über-right-wing xenophobia and prejudice.

Fascinating. And they are pretty right-wing, kind of like our NY Post/Washington Times. But more popular evidently.

Think I'd rather read the NY Post than the Fail. But it's horrific to know how widely read the Fail is given how ridiculous some/most of the stuff it spouts out is. Since this is the 'Musicals' board, here's a nice song to give you a taste of the Mail's offerings: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5eBT6OSr1TI
Back on topic, JCS closes today on Broadway. Here's an article about it - http://www.thestar.com/entertainment/article/1219876--glut-of-broadway-shows-may-have-doomed-superstar . Don't think its closure has that much to do with there being a "glut of shows", to be honest. There wasn't much advanced build-up and, to be honest, the production didn't deliver.
My plans to buy the remastered original concept album may have subsided now after I found out they're packaging it with the new logo for the UK arena tour, urgh. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0083S3M9C/ref=s9_simh_gw_p15_d0_g15_i2?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=0PQWK6BNEWMH0S5G4RYA&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=467128533&pf_rd_i=468294
Re: Jesus Christ Superstar
ALW's reality show starts today. I don't really plan on watching it as this arena tour doesn't interest me in the slightest now. What I did find interesting was that this might be the first show I know of (have there been others?) which has its own iPhone/iPad app.
They ought to make one for Phantom!

...And Cameron's favourite deal director Laurence Connor gets a one-star review for ALW's latest savaging of his past glories:

"Then I was inspired; now I'm sad and tired."

Re: Jesus Christ Superstar
This tour is disgusting. I hope Tim Rice stays clear of it.
