Re: ALW diagnosed with prostate cancer
Fortunately prostate cancer has the highest recovery rate! My biological mother's husband was diagnosed last year and had surgery to remove it shortly after. Thankfully he has been cancer free since!

And they caught it early--always a good thing where the big C is concerned!
Best wishes to Lord Andy for a swift and complete recovery.

Re: ALW diagnosed with prostate cancer
Both my paternal grandfather and my step-grandfather were diagnosed with prostate cancer early and made full, quick recoveries.
As I said when I posted this on Facebook just now, "Get well, Andrew. But hopefully your treatment will cure you of your desire to mount that craptacular sequel."

Well wishes to him from me. As a cancer survivor I kinda know a bit about what it actually means to get those horrible cells that run amok in your body. The speedy recovery is usually not as speedy as many people would like to think. It stays in your mind for a long time. Early discovery is always a good thing though. I hope he gets well soon.

Very true. James The Cat survived lymphoma about fifteen years ago...they almost didn't catch it in time. And it's definitely something that reminds very fresh in his mind.
Definitely wishing Lord Andrew a very swift and full recovery.
Re: ALW diagnosed with prostate cancer
Hoping for a solid recovery and lots of support from family and friends.

Re: ALW diagnosed with prostate cancer
I'm no fan of the sequel thing either, even now I'm secretly hoping for ALW will change his mind about it - but I'm thinking this is not the time to crack jokes on the benefits of him getting cancer. Let's separate the private person Andrew from the public figure, the composer, in this case.

Agreed 100%. I recently read a post on somebody's LJ in response to this news, and it was absolutely vile. The post ended up being deleted by the owner of the journal, because it was in such poor taste.

The same behavior was on Facebook as well. Juvenile and entirely inappropriate.

Glad to hear that he's getting better.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery
I wish Andrew a speedy recovery too, I know this is a little late but I've been having computer problems and internet problems you wouldn't believe that in the end I had to get a new computer. I'm now fully back on line. All the best, Catherine.
Re: ALW diagnosed with prostate cancer
Andrew Lloyd Webber is cancer-free!
I won't bother posting a source since there are loads of articles that I'm sure you can all find quite easily, but he's been given the all-clear and is urging men to get tested and not be embarrassed to come forward about any problems they may be having "down under". You go, Lord Andy.

I was really worried when I saw a notification from this thread in my email, but this is excellent news.

Re: ALW diagnosed with prostate cancer
I agree, I'm very happy he's recovered, and that he decided to go public with it. He's been a good spokesman for a sensible and little discussed issue so far.
Re: ALW diagnosed with prostate cancer
It's unfortunately a very common and (can be) a very deadly cancer, but if caught early, like many cancers, it can be easily defeated. I've had two grandpas survive it.
