Merci beaucoup from a new member!
Bonjour phellow Phans!
*Waves hello to Raphael*
I just joined this awesome phorum today, and I wanted to first say a big Thank You to all those who have posted such amazing and phantastic rare POTO photos from around the world!
Briefly, about myself:
- I've been a full-fledged Phan since 1997, and after a long period of inactivity in the Phandom, I have now returned.
- I've seen ALW's POTO at least 30 times (which I know is like a drop in the bucket compared to the number of times others have seen the show).
- My fave Phantoms are Michael Crawford, James Romick, Ramin Karimloo and Rene Simard.
- My fave Christines are Dale Kristien and Sierra Boggess.
Also, I'm currently searching for, what I guess would be considered rare, photos of Rene Simard as the Phantom from the past Toronto production. So if any pics of Rene's Phantom could be posted here, that would be great!
Lastly, I just want to say that I'd totally LOVE to one day see a French-language production of ALW's POTO...I'm guessing either in Belgium or in Quebec, Canada...if RUG/ALW/CM would ever decide to do one.
Anyway, Vive Le Fantome!

So strange, I worked on some Toronto pics the other day, and came a cross a couple of him:NightRachel wrote:Also, I'm currently searching for, what I guess would be considered rare, photos of Rene Simard as the Phantom from the past Toronto production. Oh, and welcome!
Re: Rare pictures 2
Welcome, NightRachel! Hope you enjoy your stay.
Ah yes, I remember the second and third pics Anea posted from one of my Canadian programs. The bottom one always made me giggle a bit, though. Something about the angle/expression of his head strikes me as rather peculiar.

Does anyone have shots of Ben Cramer as Phantom?
I have one which he sent me when I told him I was a fan of his.

It's lovely to see the Elissa costume featured in one of these shoots.
I just came across this pretty shot of Katy in the Wishing dress:

thats a wierd one...
but I saw 2 in the past (I cant find them though) one with the 3 dutch phantoms sitting in the auditorium and one of him alone at the organ, looking rather old.

That's from the strange Phantom show he used to do a while ago.
He was a great Phantom, I'd say even better than Henk Poort.

Re: Rare pictures 2
As for Ben Cramer, these are the ones I had:
1. OK... I'm thinking Ben Cramer with Els Bongers, Henk Poort with Maaike Widdershoven and Hans Peter Janssen with... ? Is that Joke de Kruijf, or an understudy? I can't tell.
2. Ben Cramer, Henk Poort and Hans Peter Janssen, Holland.
3. Speaks for itself.
4. Ben Cramer, Holland. Looks like a mixture of Crawford and Barton in this photo.

Re: Rare pictures 2
Phantom is celebrating 24 years in Japan this spring! To commemorate it they did a medley of the show and had various speeches after curtain call:
http://www.shiki.jp/navi02/news/program/operaza/
There's also some pics from when the RAH DVD was released in Japan, with a screening (or just some scenes) at the theatre where Phantom is playing. Sierra Boggess and Ramin Karimloo was there, and performed with long-running Phantom Osamu Takai:

Yes, that is Glenda Balkan. The actress playing Meg is Sara Brenner.

Here's some lovely rooftop pictures from Copenhagen:
1. Hanne Damm and Björn Olsson, 2001. The stars are totally photoshopped in.
2. Teresia Bokor and Tomas Kofod, 2009.
3. Mia Karlsson and Tomas Kofod, 2009.
4. Tomas Kofod and Hanne Damm, 2000/01.
5. Björn Olsson and Viktoria Krantz, 2001.
Re: Rare pictures 2
I just found this gold mine while Google searching Nikki Ankara (UK Tour Christine, mid 90s).

Hahaha, he totally does!SenorSwanky wrote:Olsson looks like Elvis from that angle.
MajesticPhantom, those have been posted before, but it really is a gold mine. It deserves a reprise or two!
As you probably see, I've been scanning pictures from the various Danish Phantom brochures I have. They were always good with making different brochures for the different casts. Here's some mirror ones:
1. Teresia Bokor and Peter Jorde, 2009. This one was worked on a lot before ending up in the brochure. Main reason is that the conductor, Per Engström, can be seen in the mirror reflection (because of the tilted angle of the mirror). Fun to see the full picture, though. I don't remember where I found it.
2. Here's the Bokor/Jorde picture as it ended up in the brochure.
3. Another closeup of no. 1. I love Peter Jorde's expression.
4. Susanne Elmark and Flemming Enevold, 2000/01.
5. and 6. "The floating head" picture(s). Christine is Hanne Damm. The head of the Phantom is just pasted in, not just in one of them, but in both. So I have no idea how this one originally looked, haha! First is Flemming Enevold, second is Peter Jorde. Ca. 2001.
7. Viktoria Krantz Tocca and Peter Jorde, 2003.
8. The Phantom is Peter Jorde. I can't tell who the Christine is. Ca. 2001.

Re: Rare pictures 2
I love that scene. They should do more atmospheric shots for brochures from the mirror.
Re: Rare pictures 2
Second that--I loves me some Mirror pics. It's such an intense, atmospheric moment and it summarizes a lot about the Phantom/Christine relationship.

Last Copenhagen batch for now:
1. Viktoria Krantz Tocca and Peter Jorde, 2002.
2. Mia Karlsson and (I think) Peter Jorde, 2009.
3. and 4. Either Flemming Enevold or Peter Jorde, or both. 2002 and 2009.

Re: Rare pictures 2
Just a dash more Copenhagen pictures:
1. Magical lasso from 2000. Buquet is Jørgen Brorsen.
2. Magical lasso from 2009. Same Buquet, only without beard and with a MUCH funnier expression...
3. Little Band from 2000. I THINK Monkey girl is Hayley Franks. Don't know about the others.
4. Little Band from 2009. Monkey girl is Tori Cooper, Triangle girl is Emma Frost.
5. Two-spread Hannibal from the 2009 brochure. Carlotta is Eva Malmgren, Christine is Teresia Bokor, Piangi is Fernando Concha, Raoul is Tomas Kofod.
6. Two spread Masquerade from the 2000 brochure. Christine is Hanne Damm, Raoul is Tomas Kofod.

Re: Rare pictures 2
I love that second shot of the band. They're not normally lit in a blue light in the actual show, are they? But that looks really nice color-wise, the blue against the orange complementing each other. It's my favorite set of complementary colors.
