Operafantomet: No, those lyrics were never used. That book came out before the Stockholm production if I remember correctly. I think the author did his own translation. I have that book with that picture. Sorry, I forgot to show it to you What a Face

That makes sense! There were other translations there too, and none of them quite made sense (rhythm wise, that is).

ETA: I guess we must do some Phantom nerding next time, the lack of that is probably why you didn't show me that book. Laughing

It's odd, Teri Bibb did.... what,a thousand performances as Christine, and I only got a few pictures of her (and none in the slavegirl outfit, alas).

Maria Bjørnson's design for the Graveyard scene. The atmosphere! The "windy" look! The style!

This is one of 8 original costume sketches from Phantom that the V&A museum in London holds. If I understood them correctly, the one above is on display in their theatre section, while the other ones are viewable by appointment only. I'm trying to get an appointment for my upcoming London visit, this is stuff I really want to see.

I agree. It's the most eerie I've seen coming from her hand. It's almost like I hear the wind blowing and the crumbling leaves of the ivy crushing under his feet. I'm seriously in love with it - and I agree that the scene on stage fully lives up to the sketch.

There are no pictures of Robyn North and Simon Bailey together. Well no "official" (as in, in a souvenir brochure or the like) ones.

And I would say Ramin and Robyn in Music of the Night doesn't exist either but someone may prove me wrong.

Hey...these wouldn't really be considered 'rare', but over at www.broadway.com there are some lovely shots of John Cudia, Jennifer Hope Wills and the rest of the cast that I, personally, haven't seen before. Just go to Find A Show, then to POTO, then Photos, then the little 'full gallery' link under the half dozen photos.

Speaking of which, I did email Maria Kesselman to ask her about the dance routine. Sarah Brightman danced all of "Hannibal" when the show opened in London, and I've always been curious on whether her alternate and understudy did as well. Don't know about alternate Claire Moore, but Kesselman confirmed she as understudy did dance the whole thing, as Brightman did. Not surprising, since she's a trained classical ballet dancer, but it's nice to get it confirmed. Very Happy

That's awesome that you emailed her about it! I wish I could have seen her. Unfortunately I wasn't born yet. lol But, yes I want the original pics so bad. I have searched & searched the web for them but I can't find them anywhere. Hopefully, they'll pop up someday! Very Happy

They all seem to come from Markus Tylor, it's very much in his style and looks like variants of stuff already posted online. I guess someone bought prints from him. I hope some of it will show up online as well, I dig his style and the rareness of the pictures from the early POTO days.

I know the girl who posted them has the originals, but she hasn't logged on to the site I got them from for like four months. Crying or Very sad
