Ok, here are some pics of the new acquisitions. After talking with a friend of mine, we think the shirt actually was used on one of the mannequins in the show. A few things back this up. First, it closes up the back and second, it has no trace of an actor's name tag anywhere. They said it was definitely consistant with the mannequin shirts. Enjoy!

Ha, I had actually put in a bid for the lot with the bowties and shirt, but quit early on because it went too high for my rather limited budget. I was only interested in the scarf and, well, if I had to chose between spending money on Hugh's scarf or on a train ticket to see Hugh in the next couple of weeks....no contest. Very Happy

Interesting that the shirt buttons in the back. I have one of Mark Jacoby's shirts that's signed by the entire cast, but it buttons in the front like a normal dress shirt. I have to double-check the tags on the maker's name, though.

ETA: Went upstairs and checked the tags...it's Adolfo Couture Collection for Aetna.

Heh. I love how Hugh used to actually write out every letter in his name, and now it's become a P with a squiggle. Laughing

Very cool stuff! And it does make sense that the shirt closing in the back was used to dress a dummy.

Anea - Congrats on the successful auction of your beautiful creation! I hope that whoever won it will share pictures once they receive it.

I shared this on another Phantom board but wanted to share it here as well. I commissioned a dressing gown replica. We used the fabric that has been used in several of the dressing gown from the US productions.

I have not received the gown yet, but the images were sent to me yesterday and I simply had to share it with you all. I can't wait to receive it on Monday! Smile

The pictures are below:

I am dying of laughter.... And shaking my head... and laughing some more...

Who else bought the Elissa skirt than my own family? Those awesome, silly, fantastic, even more silly creatures. I totally didn't see it coming. I noticed the person who won the bid was new on eBay, but I thought someone signed up because they wanted a Phantom costume badly. Well, in a way they did. Just not... you know.

I know at least one member of this forum was bidding on it, and in a way I'm sorry... Sad I had no idea my family was involved in the bidding. In some way it's a pity too, this skirt should be won and worn by a fan. But on the other hand, this will be a future present for my little niece from her parents, and by the time she fits it she'll be a major fan.... Wink

And I am happy to say the skirt raised a fair amount of money for the Pink Ribbon campaign; $822 in total. It will probably be donated through Josefine's money collection, here:
http://www.cancerfonden.se/sv/rosabandet/Stod-oss/insamlingar/?collection=3799

I've noticed some others have been raising money for the Pink Ribbon campaign too. I applaud you. Breast cancer may not be "worse" than any other cancer types, but it's one of those cancers where people themselves can check their body on a regular basis and where the prognosis are good if discovered early. Still, some experience that it strips you for your femininity, at least for some time. You may have to remove one or both breasts, you may loose your hair, you may never get children. It's brutal. The less people who has to experience that, the better.

**raises glass**

That said, maybe this should be an annual thing, with a new costume made and money donated to another good cause next year? Not sure how happy RUG and co will be for that, but it's something to consider.

Indeed, making kids enjoy good musicals/books/movies is an aunt's sacred duty. Razz

Maybe it could inspire RUG or someone else officially connected with other musicals to do something similar?

I do see an Aminta costume in this fabric...

And I do see some scalloped Aminta skirt layers in this black lace...

Aww, darn! Now where am I gonna get a Christmas tree substitute!?

Seriously, though, Anéa, the skirt is so gorgeous and I'm happy all your hard work paid off, if not quite in the way you expected! The commitment and attention to detail shows in every photo.

Viscountess wrote:Posed this question on the other board too, but I wanted to get more opinions before I made the next move:

Vicountess, this is coming a little late, but I really like both those fabrics. I assume you are talking about the center section of the bodice? I was originally going to vote for the lower one, but I've switched to the upper one. I was looking at the photos like this one https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v323/reiseaudun/designdonjuan/gypsyus3.jpg
and I felt that there is a significant contrast between the quite busy and dark pattern of the main bodice and the brighter, bolder pattern of the middle section. While I like the colors in the lower fabric swatch, it is busier, and I think the upper one will create that bolder look. Granted, that could partly just be the scans...
Of course, the price difference is a big factor, too. That's all just my 2 cents. I can't wait to see the progress on this!

Thanks for the suggestion, Loettchen! I decided to go with the "paisley" one for the entire thing. It has this AWESOME pattern that's the perfect size for one middle panel and at that point, I was just too spent to trying and find another fabric for that part. I think I mentioned it either here or the other board, but I went through like twenty something stores to find the perfect bodice fabric.

First update pic ever!

Viscountess, I love what you've done with the tassels there, combinating two different colours! And the zig-zag ribbon in the bottom is also very cool. And the colour! In short, I think the tabs will be smashing. Very Happy

I know this isn't exactly phantom costume related--but I was entered into Broadway.com's halloween costume contest and I'm one of the finalists! One of the other finalists is dressed as the phantom and his deformity is really good!

(here comes the shameless self promotion) though I'm not dressed as someone from phantom--I would appreciate it if you could vote for yours truly! I dressed as Elphaba from Wicked.

back to slaving over Christine's masquerade costume now. (or at least working on finding/making patterns)

Hehe, thanks so much guys! That fabric is GORGEOUS in real life, but the bodice photographs terribly when I'm wearing it.

The whole costume's been done for the last week or so, with some hooks added last thing yesterday morning. I just need to get a chance to take some decent pictures of the skirt and bodice together. That thing is HEAVY.
