Okay, no.
Not liking the show, disagreeing with the idea of it, and disliking the music in it, that's one thing. But you have no right to issue threatening-like letters to individual members of the cast. I understand that it's just a parallel to the Leroux note to Carlotta, but it still leaves a very bad taste in my mouth, and indeed makes all of us who are opposed to the show look like irrational fanatics. As much as we may disagree with these actors' career choices, we have no right to tell them what they can and cannot, should and should not do. This is especially true considering the fact that Love Should Die is now on the media radar. It doesn't do at all for the cause to be undermined by what would appear to be personal threats.
Bad form, I say.
~Madame~
Agreed, Madame. I am entirely unsurprised by this, and extremely disappointed. LND is the worst idea ever conceived, yes, but going along and making threats (however cute and harmless they might seem at the time) will get the fandom NOWHERE. It is extremely detrimental to the message those who oppose the sequel are trying to send. Threatening real people is crossing the line. That person, and others who see that message, have no idea into the sarcasm that image might have been created with. I get the reference, and shared between a fan or two, privately, it's worth a chuckle. But now it's out on the Internet for ALL to see. As Madame said, LND is out there in the media now, and this is entirely the wrong sort of attention the anti-sequel crowd needs. I can't wait to see the "Angry Fans Threaten Actress" headlines in the future. It makes the rest of us fans look unstable. So, thanks.
I already see the fallout of this happening between certain fans, so that won't be a surprise to me either. Be annoyed at my opinion, go and rant and rave on other sites about the mean turncoat fans, I don't care. I don't support LND, but I don't condone this sort of behavior either.
Re: Love Never Dies - all views allowed
In all fairness, I don't think this was intended as a threat to Sierra Boggess, but a reference to the fact that she did miss Saturday's dress rehearsal due to illness (typically gushing Daily Mail article here). It does come off as mean-spirited and could all too easily be taken as a genuine threat out of context, though.

I'm sure it was intended as a funny ha-ha, but to the people out there in media land with no understanding of the history of POTO (back to Leroux), this looks bad. It's a thinly veiled reference that 98% of people on the Internetz will not get, and will most likely be taken out of context and seen as a legitimate threat. Expecting anyone outside the POTO community (and many in the POTO community, for that matter) to understand that is given them way too much credit.

Agreed. Let's not give the folks who would paint the anti-sequel crowd with the "crazy fans" brush any ammo.

Even if it was a joke only based on Sierra's unexpected illness, it hardly improves the situation. Instead of just being seen as a threatening message, now it also seems like a callous suggestion that Sierra had it coming, and deserved her illness, by being in LND. Unacceptable.

Re: Love Never Dies - all views allowed
LSD has posted a retraction on their Facebook page.
Now who's up for participating in a worldwide playback of the OLC during LND's opening night?

I don't want to speculate but somehow I think LSD is one of us, okay I know they have an LSD account on here but I somehow think they are someone else who has a "real" account on here if you know what I mean?
I don't want to out anyone, but it has been playing on my mind for a while, they must be known, even if not here, they must be on some forum. And if they read what we have said (which they clearly have) I just want to say that it wasn't against them as a person, just the way it was said. This is a random post, I just feel sort of bad on reflection and hope they didn't take it to heart. Which I am sure they didn't anyway...

I'm glad LSD issued out a 'speech' when it came to that letter. I didn't find it all so 'ugh', mainly because I knew they were using the scene where Carlotta was threatened by the Phantom. But I agree, other people wouldn't have known. I still support them and I find them wonderfully up to date with their information. And the people really nice.
As for the OLC listening party worldwide, that sounds freakin awesome.

Agreed on all counts -- I didn't interpret it as anything that was intentionally malicious, but certainly, others who didn't recognize the quote might have taken it differently. So I'm glad they posted a retraction before things could get out of hand.

Sounds awesome! Except, er... *takes out Two-Face's coin to choose between the OLC and OCC, but can't decide which would be the "evil" side* Aw, heck, I'll listen to 'em both.

Count me in, too...though I might not be able to find my OLCR in time and will probably end up playing the Swedish version.

Re: Love Never Dies - all views allowed
I just listened to the clips from the LND recording on German Amazon. Quick review:
Poor, poor Raoul, what are they doing to you? It ain't right!
Gustave sounds like a girl. I thought he was a girl first.
I don't like how Sierra holds back, it reminds me of Emmy.
The Beauty Underneath is just plain scary.
Lot's of Woman in White in there. At one time I could have sworn I heard Ann Caterick and at another time it sounded just like that mystery figure on the railroad who Mr Hartright bumps into at the beginning of WIW.
Meg's character seems quite odd, it doesn't feel right that she fancies the Phantom. Not to mention her creepiness at the end of the show.
If they are going to give Mme Giry an accent, why not try to give her the right one? She sounded German rather than French in these clips.
I kinda liked the short clip of "The Aerie".

Re: Love Never Dies - all views allowed
I pondered about this... throughtout the years there's been many suggesting that the Phantom is Meg's father. Could the LND story indicate a sort of sibling jealousy rather than Meg fancying the Phantom?Phantomlove wrote:

(not that I'm thrilled by either alternatives....)
Re: Love Never Dies - all views allowed
Could be, but when Meg sang that she would do it/sing it only for him, it didn't exactly sound like she was singing to daddy. But you never know, maybe she has felt neglected all her life and her goal is to be loved by daddy and instead comes a son, by Christine no less?
Re: Love Never Dies - all views allowed
Someone on WOS has said it's the characters from Phantom at the pace of Woman in White, and that they wish, apert from a few highlights, that it wasn't so boring.
As we thought then, lol

Re: Love Never Dies - all views allowed
I just heard a clip of Heaven by the Sea...sounds like something out of a straight to DVD Disney sequel. I gagged.
ETA: Since when did Raoul become Sir Percival Glyde?! Who let a 14 year old fangirl write the plot of this story?
I know it's immature to say, but I could see this sequel ruining the Phandom for me entirely. It breaks my heart

I've seen 14-year old fangirls write better fanfics that this.
Anyhow, I just read a bunch of spoilers on another forum and, well, I'm utterly disgusted.
Re: Love Never Dies - all views allowed
OH man. I just read a description of the ending on another site and holy *beep* it's awful. Oh boy. Every single character from the original gets completely screwed over.

At least people are saying the makeup is the same! Hahaha.
There's a more detailed review on the WOS site now.
Hey maybe it'll get such a critical drubbing it won't open here? Ah one can only hope...
Ahahaha!! Just read this nugget of info.
