Re: Past POTO actors, what are they doing now?
I saw Sarah Lawrence and Kirk Vaughn Robinson (both formerly of the US National Tour) today with the Opera Omaha's production of The Mikado. Brilliant!
Re: Past POTO actors, what are they doing now?
I thought Saraw Lawrence was still a Christine understudy in Vegas. But knowing me, she probably left ages ago... Glad you enjoyed their performances!Phantom on a Budget wrote:I saw Sarah Lawrence and Kirk Vaughn Robinson (both formerly of the US National Tour) today with the Opera Omaha's production of The Mikado. Re: Past POTO actors, what are they doing now?
Earl Carpenter will return to Queen's Theatre for a limited run as Javert. Between 7th - 19th May 2012, because Hadley Fraser will be busy with the Les Mis movie.
Re: Past POTO actors, what are they doing now?
Lawrence was a vacation understudy for Hertzenberg, I believe. I think she was only there for a few months. Vegas brought in lots of alumni to cover for vacations/holidays as needed.operafantomet wrote:I thought Saraw Lawrence was still a Christine understudy in Vegas. In October he will take over the role as the Phantom, his first city will be Edinburgh.
Re: Past POTO actors, what are they doing now?
I only realised the other day that Brad Little is currently in the ensemble of Evita on Broadway, alongside George Lee Andrews.
Re: Past POTO actors, what are they doing now?
"Elizabeth Loyacano, Queen of Apple Porn". Somebody actually captioned a Phantom pic on Tumblr with that.
I am not proud of this moniker. And I think it's safe to say she probably isn't either

Ted Keegan will perform as a guest artist in the Susquehanna Valley Chorale's Broadway-themed spring pops concert tonight and tomorrow night. I know it's awfully late to post this, but better late than never, in case any Pennsylvania phans would be interested. http://svcmusic.org/concerts_season2011-12.htm (Technically I guess he isn't a "past POTO actor" because he's currently playing Monsieur Reyer/Jeweler in the Vegas cast, according to their website.)
(I saw him perform with SVC in Fall 2009 as a soloist in the premiere of Robert S. Cohen's "Alzheimer's Stories." http://svcmusic.org/concerts_fall2009.htm The concert aired on my local PBS station a few times, and I guess it might be available on DVD somewhere? Anyway, you can hear some of it on the composer's website: http://www.robertscohen.com/listen.htm
Ted Keegan also did a Phantom-themed concert with SVC in spring 2008, which I had to miss because I was too busy with college.)
I also noticed that Josie Benson (former Madame Giry understudy), Will Barratt, Tim Morgan, and Adam Pearce (Squelch in LND) are in the ensemble of the current West End revival of Sweeney Todd, and Peter Polycarpou is playing Beadle Bamford. http://sweeneytoddwestend.com/the-show/cast/

Also Robert Irons and Matthew Gent. Interesting that Johanna is played by Lucy Barker. What a coincidence.

Valda Aviks, who played Carlotta in Vienna and UK in the 90's is also in the ensemble.

Long-time former Broadway Phantom Howard McGillin will be headlining performer aboard this year's Playbill Cruise.
"The 10-day luxury cruise, a partnership with Regent Seven Seas Cruises, has become a hit with hundreds of theatre-loving travelers since its inaugural voyage in September 2011. The third installment of the popular trip will make stops in Stockholm, Turku, Helsinki (Finland), St. Petersburg (Russia), Tallinn (Estonia), Riga (Latvia), Visby (Sweden) and Berlin (Germany) with the trip ending in Copenhagen (Denmark)"
Sounds posh.

I'll just go rob the nearest bank. Or I'll wait till it comes to Helsinki and I'll sneak in.

I'm amused they think Stockholm is in Finland. But then again, Norway is the capital of Sweden, so I guess that makes sense.Madame Giry wrote:Long-time former Broadway Phantom Howard McGillin will be headlining performer aboard this year's Playbill Cruise.

Joke aside, would be awesome to hear him live. Does anyone know what repertoire they usually have? I mean, do they do a specific cabaret or show, or do they "just" perform Broadway songs?

Original Vegas Madame Giry Rebecca Spencer will reprise her role when the World Tour opens in Manila.

Whoa! Did not see that one coming. But how cool. So she went from Carlotta in Hamburg to Madame Giry in Vegas to Madame Giry in Manila. She's international for sure.Raphael wrote:Original Vegas Madame Giry Rebecca Spencer will reprise her role when the World Tour opens in Manila.
Re: Past POTO actors, what are they doing now?
Just saw the touring production of "Peter Pan" last night in Dallas with Cathy Rigby as Peter Pan. Brent Barrett (one of the original Las Vegas Phantoms) is playing Mr. Darling / Captain Hook.
It was a fun evening!

So Laird Mackintosh has signed on to play Utterson in the revival of Jekyll and Hyde, and original Y/K Phantom Richard White is going to be Sir Danvers. I think I may actually need to see that now...

Apparently the wonderful Stephen John Davis is in the cast of the new rubbish-looking JCS arena tour in the UK.
Re: Past POTO actors, what are they doing now?
Tomas Ambt Kofod, Raoul and Phantom u/s in Copenhagen, did the lead in a Jekyll & Hyde production this spring. He's playing Mr. Y in Copenhagen's "Love Never Dies" next.

Tomas...
As for where Sarah Brightman is now, apparently the answer is space. Take this with a pinch of salt as it comes from The Daily Fail: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2192106/Classical-performer-Sarah-Brightman-space-tourist-completing-medical-tests.html

I mentioned that story to my partner...his only comment was, "She'll look hot in a spacesuit."
