Re: Autographs/Letters from cast members
After seeing Trista Moldovan as Christine. I sent he a e-mail telling her how much I loved her as Christine and how she instantly went to my favorite. And she wrote me back and sent me a autographed picture of her.
Re: Autographs/Letters from cast members
I've had emails and/or Facebook/MySpace messages/comments from several cast members. Around a dozen, I think? I've lost track at this point, but they've all been incredibly nice. Special props to Richard Todd Adams, whom I've never met but who emailed me to tell me about a cast change before it was announced in case it affected my ticket-buying, and Trista Moldovan, who messaged me out of the blue to ask for my address so she could send me an autographed Playbill.
Let's see, who have I exchanged messages or comments with? Trista Moldovan, Richard Todd Adams, Brad Little, Bruce Winant, Kim Stengel, Kelly Jeanne Grant, Stephen Trafton, Kristi Holden, Michael Lackey...I'm forgetting some, I know I am. And Brianne, of course.

I've kept contact with Sandra Joseph, through her blog, an e-mail and facebook. I think the biggest thing was the e-mail because it came before facebook was popular with the public, so it did mean a lot to me. Rebecca Caine has been a loyal facebook user, and I had a rather long-winded conversation on the facebook chat with Brianne at about 2 or 3 am way back when.

Knowing you, that scared me.
I've also exchanged messages with a number cast members on Facebook. Sandra, of course, is a total sweetheart.
But...and this isn't exactly an e-mail or cast member..still, I'll count it anyway...the one message that means the most is a pretty card from Hugh's mother. The note in it was just so absolutely lovely. Of course, Hugh carried it around in his day-planner for almost ten months before finally mailing it to me with a little note begging me not to tell his mother about the delay.

Haha, yeah, Brianne has randomly FB chatted me randomly in the wee hours a couple times (of course, I'm 3 hours ahead of Vegas time, so it was even weer for me). I've talked with her on AIM a few times, as well. But she's a regular old board member, so we've all talked with her.Christine's Shadow wrote:I had a rather long-winded conversation on the facebook chat with Brianne at about 2 or 3 am way back when.
I got a signed photo of MC and a letter from him when I tried to join his fan club back in the mid-90s, but who knows if he actually wrote the letter? Probably not. It did have his signature sense of humor, though, and it did respond to things I said and asked in the letter I wrote. But I imagine a staffer wrote the response and he just signed it.
Other than that, I don't think I've corresponded with any cast members. I'm not even Facebook or MySpace friends with any of them other than Brianne, I don't think.

OK, I have to admit it...I glanced at this too quickly and, for a moment, thought it said...
she's a regular old broad

And that is why I've repeatedly suggested that a pair of cans and some really looooong string would be a more efficient way to communicate.

That's a funny image--string going on for miles, and then Hugh, hearing a muffled murmur, picking his end up and going "Paula!"Christine's Shadow wrote:

Re: Autographs/Letters from cast members
You know you love us, Brianne. And yeah, I've chatted with you too... Not via Facebook, but on the chatrooms of "All Things Phantom" during the show broadcasts. Though you're certainly welcome to hit me up on Facebook anytime. ^_^
Let's see... After seeing "The Lion King" here in Hawaii in the fall of '07, I got to meet Kevin Gray at the stage door, and he was kind enough to give me his e-mail address. Later, I wrote to him and asked if he'd be willing to participate in a Phan interview on another POTO forum I'm a member of, and he agreed. (I'll post the link in the future if that's allowed.) And then a few months afterward when I found out the Three Phantoms concert was coming back to Hawaii, I wrote him, and he wrote me back a really nice reply.
And this January before I saw the show in SF, Count-Alexiel convinced me to e-mail D.C. Anderson beforehand and ask if my friends and I could get a tour. He replied and said sure (hey, that kinda rhymes!), and so we got our first trip backstage with him. And then after I returned home, I messaged D.C., John Cudia, and Kelly Jeanne Grant on Facebook to thank them for a wonderful performance. They each wrote me very gracious replies, and added me as a friend as well. So I consider myself quite a lucky Phan because of that.

Re: Autographs/Letters from cast members
I was so moved by Kristi Holden's performance when I first saw Phantom that I sent an email thanking her as soon as we got back up to our room. My wife made fun of me incessantly until Kristi wrote me back! I thought that was really cool. No one gets that but you guys

Re: Autographs/Letters from cast members
I wrote to several of the danish cast members- and they all wrote back. I didn't send them a letter but a private message on facebook. I wrote to the most perfect christine ever, Teresia Bokor. She was also my first live christine, so I was kinda on a hype when I wrote the message hehe I wrote a slighty long letter telling her how amazing she and the production was. When I saw it a month later i saw Eva Malmgren for the first time- who was star as Carlotta, so wrote to her telling her that

Eva Malmgren is the best Carlotta I've seen, ever. My God, that woman sparkled on stage! Plus, her acting - brilliant.ThomasMark92 wrote:When I saw it a month later i saw Eva Malmgren for the first time- who was star as Carlotta, so wrote to her telling her that
The Danish cast(s) has been friendly, always replying. But I guess emailing actors in Scandinavia isn't all that common, so they might just think it's fun.
Re: Autographs/Letters from cast members
The first actor I ever wrote to was Thomas James O'Leary, and both my sister and I got a reply from him a few months later (he seemed to be slightly confused about receiving two letters from the same address, but it all got sorted out and I think we all got a laugh out of it ). I also signed the guestbook on Davis Gaines's website and got a letter and autograph from him, too! Rebecca Pitcher sent me a very nice note with her autograph and I also have Anthony Warlow's.
As for web-based stuff... I've been exchanging the occasional e-mail with D.C. Anderson for over ten years (pass the Geritol?) and in the course of getting information for my Reyer site, I've exchanged and/or been sent e-mails by over a dozen cast members. Ted Keegan once sent me an e-mail out of the blue. And I had a Scrabble war going with Michael McCoy on Facebook until they banned that application.
I've treasured it all.

Re: Autographs/Letters from cast members
OK I figured I'd ask this in here. Has anyone else had trouble not being added by actors on facebook? I have sent some friend requests and they've been ignored.

Re: Autographs/Letters from cast members
I've been ignored by a few, but I didn't let it bother me because obviously it meant they would rather keep their friends restricted to actual friends, and I'm a mere fan. I feel very honored to have been added by the ones who did accept.
Re: Autographs/Letters from cast members
Yeah, I've only tried to friend the ones I've actually met or at least talked to online, like Brianne, TMG, and Sean MacLaughlin. All three of them accepted pretty quickly.

*nod nod* Yeah, that.Freyalise wrote:I've been ignored by a few, but I didn't let it bother me because obviously it meant they would rather keep their friends restricted to actual friends, and I'm a mere fan. I feel very honored to have been added by the ones who did accept.
I've only ever added cast members that I've met, and most of them have added me back. I usually send a little message along with my friend request too, something along the lines of "I don't know whether or not you add fans, so feel free to just ignore me if you don't." I obviously don't have to tell them that since they'd just ignore me anyway, but I like to make it known that I'm not trying to be a creeper or expecting them to add me as a friend when they have absolutely no reason to.
Re: Autographs/Letters from cast members
I actually only have three cast members on my Facebook. One I know personally though to be honest (and is big on privacy of their facebook account) one I've met at the stage door through the other cast member and of course the lovely Brianne from here
I know a lot of the actors do try limit who they add to their Facebook and that's understandable but I wouldn't really add soemone for the sake of adding them or someone I knew of but hadn't actually met.

I respond better to a note with the friend request. If I look at someone's friend list and they have no mutual friends, They will stay in limbo for a while. I'm all for "friending" Phans, but I need to know that they aren't the crazy ones.

You're right there Brianne. I know a London cast member who had a serious problem with that... it was a pretty scary situation that I won't go into on a public forum but yes, always be careful with your friends list Brianne. However, sometimes it is as if all us Phans are crazy (but the good kind of crazy of course ha!)

Re: Autographs/Letters from cast members
I personally don't understand people getting upset when an actor doesn't friend them on Facebook.
A). There is more to the world than Facebook.
B). They are under no obligation to friend you.
C). Some only friend people they've met in person, some don't friend fans on their personal FB pages at all (those usually have public fan pages)
D. Find another hobby; you have too much time on your hands.

How do we know if we're the crazy ones? Of course, I am being deployed in a few months so I expect the craziness to ensue very soon!

Re: Autographs/Letters from cast members
OK does anyone know how I can go about contacting Sierra Boggess for an autographed picture?
Should I send a self addressed envelope thing to the Adelphi Theatre?
What do you guys think I should do?

Re: Autographs/Letters from cast members
I'd say a SAE to the theatre is your best bet. I've never written fan mail or anything similar myself but from scouting some message boards it appears some people reply quickly, some will take a little longer and others don't reply at all. I've never heard of anyone sending anything to Sierra so I don't know about her specifically. I'm sure if you include a SAE she'll get back to you with a picture.

I agree here. I've never really understood the need to add people on Facebook, especially if they've never met or talked to each other previously. I only add people on Facebook I actually count as friends and would stop in the street to talk to, so if I were an actor (which I'm not), I'd probably have issues with adding fans. Unless I guess I set up a separate account just for fans, but who's going to bother going to all that trouble?
Re: Autographs/Letters from cast members
I completely agree Scorp, I know some people *ahem* who seem to friend request almost every single actor they even come into contact with once. I just wouldn't do that, the only actors I have on Facebook (and I don't have many believe me) are actually friends or at the very least someone I would actually stop and have a conversation with on the street who I have most likely met or been properly introduced to at the very least through another friend.
And if the shoe were on the other foot personally I'd like to have some personal space.

Re: Autographs/Letters from cast members
I know some actors who make a facebook just for the sake of adding fans. I know for a fact that on MySpace, Rebecca Caine would add fans/take friend requests. I know she loves her fanbase and her fans are very polite. Some actors ARE like that, but not many. But I, for one, have never gotten upset if an actor hasn't added me, it's worth a try and then I move on.
I will openly say the only actors who have accepted a friend request would be Michael Kunze (lyricist whom Scorp-y doesn't like) and Rebecca Caine - both who either had blogs or myspaces before hand and love to talk to their fans. But as I said, I don't add a lot of actors nor do I find most of them facebook literate.
