Kristina från Duvemåla

Post  Phantomlove on Thu Oct 08, 2009 3:26 pm

I found this on Youtube. Very nice I think. You must be there from "Kristina från Duvemåla" sung by Helen Sjöholm. The clips are from the two movies that tell the same story as Kristina från Duvemåla does.

I luuuuuuv "Kristina". Listened a lot to it today. I had forgotten how much I dig the Ekborg/Sjöholm combo.

And the song "Stanna" is too beautiful for words. I love how the role of Karl-Oskar is both a super-softie and a man-man. A rather interesting role.

Some songs from the concert version held in Minnesota (in Swedish, with so-so English subtitles) many years ago. Fantastic casts and orchestra!

In that first video, I don't know who's got the most amusing facial expressions of Helen Sjöholm and the chorus member to the right... (3:45 and out. Priceless!). Some other clips:

(English languaged version of "Du måste finnas", also sung by Helen Sjöholm. Clips from the movie starring Liv Ullman)

(Performed by British musical artist Kerry Ellis)

I think they have done a great job with translating the lyrics to English. I really want to hear the rest of the show in English as well.

I was told no production of Kristina would see the day of light until the musical opened on Broadway. But apparently there'll be a production in Finland in spring 2012:

Louise Pitre as Ulrika? Wow. Sounds cool. The original Ulrika was wonderful, but I think Pitre has lots of attitude and a cool way of singing, which is very good for the Ulrika role.
