Cast members' solo albums
I'm not really one to buy these sorts of things as I tend not to like listening to musical theatre stuff that's out of context, but I do make a few exceptions.
Just wanted to spread the word that it looks like John Owen-Jones -- vocally my favourite ALW Phantom -- is coming out with a new album this December! Getting quite excited as he seems to have got some amazing guests on the album, including Rebecca Caine (!) and the mighty Bryn Terfel (!!!).
It's apparently due for release on 7th December. More info @ http://www.johnowenjones.com .
P.S. Interesting factoid for those of you in the UK -- looks like JOJ sang at Duncan Bannatyne's (of Dragons' Den fame) birthday party! Wish I could hire JOJ to sing at mine...

Re: Cast members' solo albums
Looking forward to John Owen Jones album a LOT!! He has a gorgeous voice.
Viktoria Krantz is releasing a new album in a few months. It'll be the first album where she sing musical songs (her other albums has been her own stuff), and she's in the process of recording "Wishing you were somehow here again". Highly looking forward to that!

Re: Cast members' solo albums
I love to pick up solo albums of the actors I enjoyed on stage since it typically is the only way to obtain copies of them performing Phantom songs and also introduces me to works by other composers, making me seek out their work.
My collection includes:
Sarah Brightman
Michael Crawford
Franc D'Ambrosio
Davis Gaines - Against the Tide
Robert Guillaume - This is the Moment
Dale Kristien - The Beauty of Broadway
The Leading Ladies
Brad Little - Unmasked
Lisa Vroman - Broadway Classic
Laurie Gayle Stephenson - I Believe My Heart
Michael Ball - The Musicals
Rebecca Spencer - Wide Awake and Dreaming
Marina Prior - All I Ask of You

Re: Cast members' solo albums
I have all of MC's albums, one of Anthony Warlow's, a few of Peter Karrie's, one of Randal Keith's, one of John Barrowman's, and I think that's it. I used to have digital downloads of some of Michael Ball's albums on Rhapsody a few years ago, but then I got rid of Rhapsody, and my computer crashed.
Re: Cast members' solo albums
I have quite a few of the albums Count-Alexiel mentioned, and also Kevin Gray's "It's My Time to Shine" (which I bought on iTunes) and Craig Schulman's "On Broadway" (which I got autographed by him at the last "Three Phantoms" event).
Re: Cast members' solo albums
Oh yes, Add Randal Keith and Kevin's to my list I totally forgot (IamErik, I loved Tiny Feet, that song cracks me up_

Re: Cast members' solo albums
Though not technically a cast member album, I have a solo album signed Graham Bickley (Phantom on the Claire Moore POTO CD, but was later replaced by Ethan Freeman... luckilly...).
Graham Bickely has a lovely voice, a classic touch, a bit melancolic. Reason why I mention the album here is because he sings "All I Ask of You" with Kathrina Murphy (Christine alternate in West End in spring/summer 2002). Not really fond of her, but I think Bickley makes a lovely Raoul. I seriously wish they'd put him to sing Raoul instead of the Phantom on that Moore CD!

Re: Cast members' solo albums
John Owen-Jones, best known for his record breaking performances in blockbuster musicals Les Misérables and The Phantom of the Opera, presents his self titled debut album. John is the youngest actor in the world to have ever played the role of `Jean Valjean' in Les Misérables both in the West End and on Broadway and can currently be seen playing the role in the show's 25th Anniversary International tour. He has received great critical acclaim for his portrayal; The New York Post called him "...one of the best actors to perform the role" and he was voted the "Best Performer in Les Miz Ever" and Best Jean Valjean Ever" in a worldwide online poll of fans of the show. John has also played the role of `The Phantom' more times than any other actor in the show's West End history - the Daily Mail described him as "...better than all the talented actors to precede him in the role" and has sung in concerts all over the world at such legendary venues as the Albert Hall and Wembley Stadium. Recorded and produced in Cardiff and London by John Owen-Jones and renowned record producer Chris Craker, the 10 track CD contains songs from Les Misérables and Phantom of the Opera among others and includes contributions from brilliant guest artists' Catrin Finch, Only Men Aloud!, Bryn Terfel and Michael Ball.

Very good, well worth getting. Very heavy on duets though if that isn't your thing. There are four Phantom songs in total but songs from other shows as well. Robyn has a lovely voice and all of the performers on the album are top class too.

I agree, it's a great album. To be honest, I only got it because it has Think of Me on it and I love her rendition of the song, but I like all the songs.

Re: Cast members' solo albums
Viktoria Krantz (Tocca), Christine from Copenhagen, is releasing a new solo album these days. It includes "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again" in English which I'm looking forward too. The only song I've heard so far is her rendition of "Dark Waltz". It's eerie and beautiful, and a good reminder of how pretty voice she has. It can be heard in full version here, to the right on the site:

Thanks for the heads up on Viktoria's album. Sounds like I'll have to be getting this.

A music video from the single "Dark Waltz" has been released! Lovely atmosphere in it, which match the song well. And I must say the guy in the video ain't too shabby either...operafantomet wrote:Viktoria Krantz (Tocca), Christine from Copenhagen, is releasing a new solo album these days. Re: Cast members' solo albums
I just thought I'd make everyone aware of David Shannon's Album "Till I Hear You Sing." He doesn't have the best reputation Phantom-wise on these boards I know (apart from with me, I liked him) but if you can get your hands on this album I really recommend you do. Even if it is just to hear what his Music of the Night could have sounded like, it really is amazing. There's musical theatre/jazz/pop songs all on the one album so it's a real mix but I can honestly listen to every single track. There's no duets, just David. As far as I'm aware it is available from the dress circle website and David Shannon's website.

Re: Cast members' solo albums
Clip of Karimloo's unsurprisingly rocked-up version of 'Music of the Night' -- yes, you read that right, the song is now a soft-rock ballad -- from his forthcoming album about 65 minutes into this radio show: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/console/b0178cxj Link will only work for the next few days.
Re: Cast members' solo albums
I heard the new arrangement from a clip from the Miss World performance and didn't like it one bit.
What are your thoughts Scorp?

Re: Cast members' solo albums
Ugh, I didn't like it. I hated the up-tempo of the song, it felt like he rushed through the whole thing and it totally ruined it for me. Definitely big no, no. "Music of The Night" is not something you should try and rock-up.

I like him too. Why do you like him so? I´ve seen one clip with Gina Beck and him in the Final Lair. Great, really great. Heartbreaking! He is also on ITunes.
