I agree, that price just doesn't make sense at all. I know Paul Stanley is famous and all, but although the item is rare it isn't rare ENOUGH to defend that price. But as for jollier stuff:

I'm thinking dressing gown...
It's a girl (artistkae) over at the poto-forum who's made it. I've enjoyed following the progress here, and I hope she get a fair price for it. Fun to see stage version costumes appearing at eBay.

Stage versions of the costumes appears on eBay now and then, there was a very nice PONR-dress a while ago. Too bad it's often in the US they go on sale, I would love to get my hands on a POTO costume one day. Either replica or real.

Someone on eBay is selling a DVD of the 2004 movie...redubbed with Michael Crawford's voice.

Re: POTO stuff on eBay
That is what you can call an interesting concept....
Is Christine still Rossum? If I could choose, I'd rather dub her...
The seller writes that "some" is still Sarah Brightman and the original London cast, I assume that is the songs where Crawford doesn't sing alone and they weren't able to mix movie soundtrack and cast album convincingly?

I have a friend who dubbed the 2004 film with the entire OLC cast...he did an amazing job, given the extra material, differed speed of some songs/scenes, and the fact that songs like 'Twisted Ev'ry Way' played out in a format which was totally different to the OLC cast recording.

That costume is about as Phantomy as the white paper domino-style masks they were giving to little kids to color at a craft tent in the park on Saturday...and those weren't particularly Phantomy.

There are several of these DVD's on Ebay Uk right now, featuring clips from the London production in a snazzy fold-out holder. A nice little item.

Actually, the only price for that piece is $50, since it's Buy It Now only. I love that Alan Wasser of the Broadway casting agency is listed as playing the Jeweller. I'd love to own some of that stuff if I had the money.operafantomet wrote:Il Muto playbill/prop from Broadway, nice closeups, current price $50:

I love the little insider reference. I also love that the auction program has the actual lots - from 663 to 670 - listed inside, along with a couple pages of detailed "Conditions of Sale" for the auction such as:
IV The Purchasers to give in their Names and Places of Abode, and to pay down 5s. in the pound or more, in part of payment, or the whole of the Purchase-Money, if required; in default of which, the Lot or Lots so purchased to be immediately put up again and re-sold.
Funny it's in pounds and not francs, despite being in Paris.

Yes well, funnier that La Tribune and Le Figaro should be in mainly Italian and not French...
Fantastic close-ups of the props. I'm not sure I'd ever seen the inside of the Il Muto programme before...loving the reference to Alan Wasser.
Idea for LND: open the show with a prologue in which we find out who won lots 667 onwards...
I don't own any Phantom props that were actually used in productions...I've always found the prices eBay sellers charge for what are essentially pieces of paper too extravagant, but am tempted in this case if 'Best Offer' is an option... thanks for the link!
Random bit of auction prologue trivia: notice how the 3 sheets covering the objects that you see when you first enter the theatre are labelled "Chandelier", "Boîte à musique" and "Cygne"? Well, it's obvious what the first two refer to, but what's the "Cygne" about? Methinks it's a remnant of the Sydmonton workshop. In that, Lot 663 turns out to be a wooden swan instead of what is now the poster for Hannibal.

That's a great idea, I have always wondered who...

Starting bid US $1,050.00.... Isn't that like 10 times as much as the original price? I don't remember any of the non-lead costumes going for that much at the RUG auction.
