Mostyn Evans and Janos Kurucz
Hi,
Just wondering if anyone knew anything about the above two actors in the original London cast. I know Janos Kurucz played the original Buquet but did he play any other parts? Same with Mostyn Evans, I know he was in the original cast ensemble but did he cover any other parts? Does anyone know anything else about them if they were in any other shows etc?

Re: Mostyn Evans and Janos Kurucz
I remember the first time I saw the show in London just before the 10th anniversary in 96, I was shocked to see Janos still playing Buquet, It was a real treat to see someone from the original cast. But in his bio in the programme, I dont think he played any other parts (except maybe I think he can be seen in a photo from DJT someplace as one of the dinner guests, or who ever they are, lol)

Yeah Janos was in the show for AGES. The first 3 times I saw the show in London, he was still there. Last time I saw him was around 1996 or 1997. It was very weird getting used to new Buquets after that!
Re: Mostyn Evans and Janos Kurucz
I saw the show in its 5th anniversary year and he was there then. Didn't know he stayed until 96/97. The reason I ask if he and the other guy Mostyn Evans covered any of the other parts is because there weren't many guys in the show at that time and I would have thought it very unlikely that they wouldn't have covered anyone.

I think he left at the early '98 cast change, so just over 11 years in the role which is pretty good.

Re: Mostyn Evans
Hi there
I've just stumbled across this Forum. Mostyn Evans was my grandfather and I was lucky to see the Phantom many times when it first opened. I was also lucky enough to see Moss play Buquet. As far as I remember he played him several times over the course of a week but the night I saw him he forgot some of his lines, bless him. In fact I still have his original script that was passed on to me when he died.

Hi Jason,
Thanks for the reply. I've been wondering who covered Buquet for a while but I suspected it might have been Moss. Did he cover anyone else do you know? There are quite a few good pictures of your Grandfather in the First Year Backstage book by Marcus Tylor. It tells of how he would arrive at the theatre on an old motorbike despite living very close to the theatre. Anyway, thanks for getting in touch. Much appreciated.

Yeah so do I, Thanks for posting Jason. Anymore interesting stories anyone has about the original London Cast let me know, particularly regarding the lesser known members of the cast.
