Phantom Mechandise
From USA Tosay June, 13, 1988
Phantom fashion is the latest passion
Phantom paraphernalia is sweeping the country. stores will be filled with phantomwatches, phantom scarves, phantom jewelry and even phantom inspired designer clothes.
On Sunday, Phantom the fragrance will make its debut at Macy's New York before reaching 200 more stores across the country by December, the phantom himself will appear at Macy's June 20, to introduce the $35 scent.
Other upcoming products include ceramic masks, crystal knicknacks, decorative boxes, silf flowers, nightshirts, music boxes, wall calendars and a computer game.
the difference between Phantom merchandise and other shows goods is qualty this is not mass market stuff, for instance, the jewelry is made by hip New York designer Wendy Gell and Richard Serbin will retail up to $400 a peice.
a series of mask pins from $14-$36 will be out in August,
Meanwhile clothing designers in US and Europe ar under the phantom spell, the show as influenced a romatic, neo-gothic mood in fashion, says Bernard Ozer VP of Associate Merchandising Corp. the focus is on cleveage, empire waist, pearls and velvet.
Newest Fall trend sweeping Europe is Cloaks.

Re: Phantom Mechandise
Fun to see what a pop culture phenomenon the show was back in the day. Nice bit of history.
On the subject of Phantom merchandise, however, I need someone to help me out. I think most of us are at least aware of the Phantom of the Opera musical figurine collection that is manufactured by the San Francisco Music Box Company.
I seem to remember that for a hot minute, they manufactured a large musical figurine with a crystal clear sculpture model of the Paris Opera House on a black base with the Phantom logo. The figurine may have been illuminated.
Am I going nuts? I can't find a photo of this particular fig anywhere on the net but I distinctly remember seeing it. I don't quite remember if it was just the front of the Opera House or a full building sculpt, but I think it was the latter.
Anyhow, if anyone has one of these (assuming they do exist) and wants to sell it, I would like to buy it. Please PM me with details and we can work something out. I am willing to pay good money for it.
Regards and thanks,
~Madame~

Hey lady, I can confirm that it *does* exist and I saw one fairly recently on ebay. They're rare, but they *do* exist!
Let me show you a picture of the one I'm thinking of (and what you may be thinking of):

SF Music Box Co. is releasing new music boxes in July: http://www.sanfranciscomusicbox.com/collections/phantom-of-the-opera
Re: Phantom Mechandise
*SQUEE*
I love those. So glad they're back in business and getting new products out. (I collect the music boxes) Was worried there for a while when they went bankrupt a couple of years back.

I too thought we may have seen the last of SF Phantom pieces but Im loving their "25th Anniv." line coming out in july! The shadowbox is really neat, but I like the music box too..anyobdy notice that for the first time ( to my knowledge) we will finally have a SF piece that plays the overture!? I mean, music of the night is classic, but after a while "night time" can only sharpen so much

Re: Phantom Mechandise
I still kick myself for not buying that unmbrella they had in Copenhagen. It was something made exclusively for their production. But luckily I grabbed the laptop bag while I could! I've used it a lot.
I also finally gave in and bought a cap on Broadway. I seldom wear Phantom clothes, but that cap was so cool. Charcoal instead of black, made of thick cotton, and with only the mask embroidery in front, no logo. Understated enough for me to wear it on daily basis. I also bought one for my dad. I think his immediate reply was "Is it a ghost"? Yes dad! Yes it IS a ghost! You're good.

Here's something you don't see every day: John F Kennedy as the Phantom of the Opera--erm Phantom of the White House:

o.O
There seems to be a whole series of these. Presidents as Monsters.

Re: Phantom Mechandise
If I could afford it, I would buy pretty much all of them. They all look beautiful.
Re: Phantom Mechandise
If anyone is interested, I have the SFMB Co. Phantom at the Pipe Organ in Mandarin Robe figurine (with Original Box), Graveyard Phantom figurine, and Graveyard Phantom waterglobe that I'm willing to sell for reasonable prices. My Phantom merchandise collecting has become more focused/limited and I just don't have the room to display them.
PM me for details and pricing if interested.
EDIT: Also, for those looking for the 25th Anniversary MotN SFMB Co figurine, there are several for sale with Buy It Now pricing on Ebay.
