Not a musical, but my (and Erik's) favourite opera. Some really great tunes by Gounod in there and a cracking story.

Anyway, posting because the ENO is reviving their earlier production of this in London, if anyone's interested. I am going on 16 October and am very excited as I've never seen Faust live. There are a few discounts around so take advantage of them, I've only spent £10 on my ticket!

I saw a production here in San Francisco years ago. My first time seeing an opera live. Unfortunately, the production design was... shall we say, "modern/symbolic"?

Just kinda takes you out of the moment when Faust curls up to sleep inside a giant book.

R.

PS: Lisa Vroman sang the Jewel Song at the symphony concert phantomgirl110, phantom10906, and I attended last month. She sounded absolutely INCREDIBLE.

I´ve seen it one time in the Vienna State Opera. It was great to see and be there. A wonderful house!

I saw an excellent production last autumn at Covent Garden (much better than the ENO's which I originally posted about). Angela Georghiu played Marguerite. Interestingly, the set design involved a replica of the Emperor's box in the Palais Garnier (the one next to Box Five) being on stage throughout most of the show. I didn't quite understand why it was there...
