Here's Hugh singing MOTN, but they cut off his interview after a few words. Don't know what else they showed.

It feels like half the board is at The Majestic tonight! I know I'm exaggerating, but I know at least 15 members who's there. Maybe more. Amazing!

For those who missed it, the official Broadway site has had lots of live updates from the 10,000 performance, and pictures are to come. There's been more buzz over there than the whole RAH event combined, I'm very impressed. Check it out!

Gillian Lynne came on stage during curtain call, and a letter from Hal Prince was read (he was not there in person). Also, several Phantom alumni is present, amongst them Rebecca Pitcher, Rebecca Luker and (I think) George Lee Andrews.

Awww, I hope George Lee Andrews was there!
I loved all the Facebook updates. Very touching that they seemed to have had a tribute to Steven Barton Smile

Yeah, one of the official page's updates indicated Andrews and Loyacano were backstage before the show, so I'm sure once the press photos hit, we'll see pics of George in attendance Smile

And thanks for sharing the pic, Cape Twirl of Doom!

I'm exhausted and literally just got home...I'll post more tomorrow...but I have to say this was really the most spectacular performance I've seen so far.

I talked to Hugh (and Soot) for a moment before the matinee and Hugh said he was worried that the show itself would get lost in all the hype.

He didn't need to worry. In fact, I was so completely absorbed in the actual performance that, by the end, I'd actually forgotten it was a special occasion.

Cape Twirl of Doom and Paula, you know I'm dark, dark, dark green with envy here? WOW!!! Thank you for a sneak peek into the backstage world, especially the cake! The little comma is too cute.

More, more!

Well, I'm not 100% awake yet (still on the first cup of coffee)...and I don't even know where to start with the performance itself so I'll save those ramblings for a bit later.

But the curtain call...so hilarious.

When Gillian Lynne came out to speak, her microphone didn't work. Kyle came forward to see if it was switched on, but it didn't help. So, Hugh came forward and called out to the soundboard to turn his mic. back up.

He stepped close to Gilly, turned to her, and said, "USE ME!"

I thought, "OMG...that sounds rather wrong!" Before I even finished that thought, Gilly threw herself at Hugh and jumped on him.

Hugh, of course, went right with it. He tilted her backwards a bit and crooned a tiny bit of "At Last" a la Etta James.

After Gilly's mic was fixed, Hugh joked he'd hoped that Gilly would've done her entire speech wrapped around him like that.

You've got... Hugh Panaro and Trista Moldovan!

AOL did a small video feature in recognition of the 10,000th performance on Broadway. Very cute! Smile

Still laughing about that Etta James moment. Hahaha!

Broadwayworld.com has an awesome picture coverage of the curtain call, here:

I can't even begin to guess how many people were recording video during the curtain call. Half the audience had their phones and cameras out.

(I was going to, but the woman next to me had jammed so many large shopping bags around the seat that I couldn't reach my camera or phone.)

Lots of special guests. Cute pic of Trista and Tewks. What was Hugh doing in that pic where it looks like he was dancing and holding a piece of paper? (Edit: Never mind. Saw you explained it in the Rare Pics thread.) Wish they'd spell names correctly. They put an extra "e" in Tracey every time, and an extra "h" in Cris Groenendaal.

Extensive details about the 10,000 performance's finale, Gillian's speech, where Hal Prince was, a list of alumni, and plenty of anecdotes:

Thanks for the link, Raph! Some great coverage in that article.

I'm definitely going to have to appropriate the stories about the marriage proposal mid-All I Ask of You and about Gillian falling into the pit for the ALM site. Very Happy

I love Gillian Lynne SOOO much Laughing

Of course, there were times like when she had to start choreographing "Masquerade" before Lloyd Webber had completed composing it, and went to him with: "I'm so sorry, darling. You'll have to make something to fit that." He did, too.

"'The trouble with you is you got nine lives for putting that damn show Cats on."

But that was a great article in general.

Just a heads up: I had ordered a Playbill off of eBay from Broadway's 24th anniversary and while the cover is nothing fancy, inside on the title page, it says, "25th Anniversary: Thursday, January 26, 2012"

Obviously a typo! Cool, huh??

Seems like she's patched up after a damage or operation. She has some kind of bandaid on her cheek.

I'm going to write up a review of some sort later today or tomorrow.

But, in the meantime, one random thing I noticed...

They seem to have improved the fireballs that shoot from the skull staff during "Bravo, Monsieur." This was the first time I've seen them shoot right across the stage and not fizzle out. They were a lot more impressive.
