I was wondering what Trista Moldovan is like as Christine. I saw Kelly Jeanne Grant in September and loved her.

Re: The Broadway production + US tour
Trista is excellent, my second favorite Christine after Lisa Vroman. I adore Kelly too, but I think Trista is slightly better suited to the role vocally.
Re: The Broadway production + US tour
Like Phantomgirl, i rank Trista my number two Christine after Lisa Vroman as well. Trista is a wonderful actress. Her WYWSHHA was so heart breaking and her PONR was very sexually charged. I'm actually quite curious to see how she works with TMG.
Re: The Broadway production + US tour
Can anyone compare perfromances for me, because I would love to see Kelly again but I'm also interested in seeing Trista.

Uh, it seems like phantomgirl110 has seen both, or else she wouldn't have talked about both. She did compare them.Callie Daae wrote:Has anyone seen both of them??? Can anyone compare perfromances for me, because I would love to see Kelly again but I'm also interested in seeing Trista.

Re: The Broadway production + US tour
I love Trista's Christine. In the one performance I saw her in she became my favorite Christine. Her last note in Think of Me was incredible. I also love her portral of the role. I wish I could see her in AZ, since its the nearest it will come to CA for a while. But I have rehearsals or starting friday shows until after the tour goes to NC.
Re: The Broadway production + US tour
I liked her as well. Beth Southard's probably still my favorite, but Trista did very well when I saw her last year.

Re: The Broadway production + US tour
See, I really, really, really don't like Beth Southard's Christine, so I hope Trista or Kelly don't remind me of her when I see the show four weeks from today.
Re: The Broadway production + US tour
Will be interesting to hear what you think. Will you see Tim Martin Gleason as the Phantom?SenorSwanky wrote:See, I really, really, really don't like Beth Southard's Christine, so I hope Trista or Kelly don't remind me of her when I see the show four weeks from today.
Re: The Broadway production + US tour
I saw Tim as the Phantom and he was amazing!!! I loved his acting in the Final Lair, he talked to himself and acted really crazy!

Re: The Broadway production + US tour
I should, unless Andrew Varela, Thomas Schumacher, or Dallyn Vail Bayles is on. Speaking of which, are they the only current Phantom understudies on the tour? The official site lists David Gaschen as a vacation cover, but is he with the production currently?operafantomet wrote:Will be interesting to hear what you think. Thanks to board member Ashley, I should be getting a backstage tour from Sean MacLaughlin after the show. I'm excited about that.

I did NOT expect to like Beth Southard at all when I saw her on the tour in 2006. Mainly because the clips I'd seen and heard on-line didn't really impress me. But she was really wonderful live...especially in Act II in general and PONR specifically.

That is actually how i felt about John Cudia But then when i saw him, he rocketed to the number 1 spot on my favorite Phantoms list
Re: The Broadway production + US tour
SenorSwanky, I have seen the tour two times already with a 3rd this Friday in Tempe AZ. David Gaschen is listed and played as Piangi. The understudies for Phantom are Dallyn Vail Bayless, Thomas Schumacher and Andrew Varela

Thanks. Did you like his Piangi? I saw him on Broadway covering that role, and he was hilarious.
Is he listed as Piangi in the Playbill, or is he just a swing?

Re: The Broadway production + US tour
David Gaschen was my first Piangi. At the time, I didn't realize he was on as the understudy because my Playbill didn't have the little insert. But he was excellent...a very funny and easy to like Piangi.

Awesome. I wonder what happened to John Whitney, who last I checked was still Piangi. I saw Whitney 6 years ago, the last time I saw the tour.marvinrd wrote:David is listed as Piangi in the Playbill.
Re: The Broadway production + US tour
I know John Whitney was playing Piangi in Los Angeles in Febuary of 2009 when I saw it there.

Quicky question...
What years did Sarah Pfisterer play Christine? I did a bit of googling, but didn't see any dates...only a few pics.

Re: The Broadway production + US tour
I'm not positive, but I think she was in the Broadway production early on, but I'm not sure until when. And then I think she was on the tour from 1993-ish to 1995-ish.

Re: The Broadway production + US tour
I'm always consulting http://phantom-media.info/ for such questions. The (main role) cast lists are put out for almost every season of the Broadway production and US tour (plus other productions).Paula74 wrote:Quicky question...

It seems Sarah Pfisterer was Christine alternate in the US tour from February 1991 to mid/late1993. She then became principal Christine in October 1993 and remained so until app. December 1995. Seems like she joined the Broadway production in mid 1999 (as alternate), became principal the year after, and since left. She's not to be found in cast lists after mid 2000, it seems.
Re: The Broadway production + US tour
Thanks! That's close enough. I forgot about the brochure list there!
Nice interview with Sean McLaughlin today:
