It's that time of year again: VOTE FOR PHANTOM to win this year's Olivier Audience Award: http://www.olivierawards.com/vote/

Oh well, no-one voted. It didn't even make the shortlist. Miz won instead.

Guys, Miz won this AGAIN this year. Phantom has never even technically won this award, though it did win a similarly named one-off Olivier Award that was done by audience vote in 2002. This is a rather depressing state of affairs. Are Phantom fans just asleep these days? Is the new generation of fans perhaps more interested in Mr Y than his Parisian predecessor? Do they generally just play with animated gifs of a non-existent (and, frankly, horrifying) entity called Rierra?  Rolling Eyes

Actually, I found the HORRENDOUS acceptance speech by our not-so-beloved English Baron for the 2002 award on YouTube today -- it's been over a decade since I last watched it when it was broadcast on television. Click here and skip to 54:00. It's as bad as I remember it. No thanks to anyone, least of all the public (but they're a sad culture anyway, remember?), and the only relevant comment to Phantom is that "it's been running long enough".

Charming fellow, this Lloyd Webber. Maybe that's why no-one's voting for his show these days??

It's been my experience that it's difficult to get Phantom fans to rally and actively participate in pretty much anything Neutral
