Thanks Scorp for posting those recommendations and I'll publically say the ones I wasn't involved in suggesting I agree with your suggestions, sorry for not thinking more categories through I just got a bit excited when I saw "Passion" nominated in three categories.

I re-iterate Scorps point (and I posted this on another certain place on Facebook) these recommendations are not solely posted to go against Love Never Dies, I genuinely, can hand on heart say that those recommended have certainly out-performed the people nominated for Love Never Dies.

Voted. But, I had to vote for Into the Woods on a few of them. Razz Sorry. I couldn't resist - it's one of my favorite musicals.

Fair enough - but the idea was that if we all vote for the same people, we've more chance of toppling the non-sequel sequel... Razz

The nominees have been announced for Broadway World's Vegas Awards and Phantom is up for a number of categories. Now it's time to send in your votes and you have until Jan 15, 2011 You can only submit your vote once.

Forum member Meglett/Brianne Morgan is up for an award.
You don't have to vote for every category, just the ones that interest you.
There are a lot of Jersey Boys cast nominated so might have a tough time against those fans.

Cross-posted from the Las Vegas Production thread:

Phantom Las Vegas is up for 11 BroadwayWorld Las Vegas Awards, and right now, they're getting their @sses handed to them by Jersey Boys! behind by 28% in the Best Book Musical category! Brianne's down by 3% in the Best Featured Actress Category! Crivello and Ragone are only leading by 1-2% in their respective categories!

C'mon people! Rally the phandom and vote for Phantom Las Vegas! We can't let the Opera Ghost be beaten by Snookie and The Situation!

Wait, am I thinking of the right Jersey show?

Voting ends January 15th. Cast your vote now!

R.

PS: Think about it: the better Phantom fares in these sorts of things, the better it looks in the eyes of the management. Which can help push certain agendas like, say, another Fans Week...

Bumping this up to the front.

Phantom is still being beaten down by Jersey Boys and Lion King. Help put Phantom on the top where they belong. If you are a member of other Phantom board, perhaps you could post a link there for voting as well.

Okay, this ain't funny anymore people:

Best Book Musical - Phantom is down by 33% to Jersey Boys
Best Choreography - Gillian Lynne is trailing by 10% to Jersey Boys
Best Featured Actor in a Musical - Andrew Ragone is leading the two Jersey Boys nominees by 1-2%
Best Featured Actress in a Musical - Brianne Morgan is now in third place by 2% behind a swing -- that's right, a SWING! - from Jersey Boys and a Lion King actress.
Best Actor in a Musical - Anthony Crivello is in third place behind the two Jersey Boys nominees by 12% and 8% respectively
Best Actress in a Musical - Kristi Holden is leading by 1% as Peepshow's Holly Madison has leaped into second place, nudging Kristen Hertzenberg into third.
Best Theatre of the Year - Phantom Las Vegas is in the top spot, leading by 21%

We need to mobilize, folks. Those Jersey Boys fans aren't playing games. So mobilize the phandom and start spreading the word to vote for Phantom Las Vegas! Repost this on other Phantom forums, post a link on your Facebook page and any Phantom-related FB groups, talk about it on Twitter, email your friends, get your family to vote, too! Just as many of us here in America have done our part in voting for Phantom when it's up for awards in the UK, for those of you overseas who haven't seen the Vegas production, let's show some support for Phantom worldwide because every single vote counts!

I suspect the Jersey Boys fanbase is lying in wait to spam votes at the very end like they're sniping an ebay auction, but vote whenever you feel it best. Duplicate votes from the same email do not count.

Voting ends this Saturday, January 15.

Have you voted yet? I don't know how many of our 224 members are active, but if every one of them voted, I think it would give Phantom a fighting chance against Jersey Boys. Because, you see, if Phantom doesn't win, I may be forced to render a drawing of little Frankie Valli beating the snot out of Erik.

Brianne's trailing behind that swing actress by only 1%. Gillian Lynne is losing the best choreography category by 8% (neither of these are logical to me). Andrew Ragone, Kristi Holden, and Kristen Hertzenberg are narrowly leading their categories by 1-2%. Anthony Crivello is in third place by 11%, and the show itself is eating Jersey Boy dust by 28%.

It's not too late to cast your vote before the Jan 15th deadline!

Boooh, Brianne Kelly Morgan did not win best featured actress. But congrats to Phantom Las Vegas for winning "Best Theatre of the Year", and to Kristi Holden (Best Lead Actress-Musical) and Andrew Ragone (Best Featured Actor-Musical) winning their respective categories.

And Phantom had four runner-ups, including Brianne as best featured actress.

Lost to a swing. That is insulting. An obviously means Jersey Boys fans are more devoted to their show than Phantom fans are. Mad

Sad

On the plus side, you can vote for the London production of Phantom to win this year's Laurence Olivier Audience Award for Most Popular Show -- an award which Phantom won in 2002. Wicked is not eligible to win it this year because it won last year's (it seems to have become a regular award now), so Phantom should be in a very strong position. Please vote here, everyone: http://www.olivierawards.com/vote/

I do like the whole "not eligible" rule but with Phantom always coming second to Wicked if the award continues I could see it going Wicked - Phantom - Wicked - Phantom every year.

This is what happens when the fangirls defect to a certain other musical whose producers have spent more time and money promoting the hell out of than Phantom.

Oh well, it can't be all bad. If it keeps the crazy fanatic brigade out of HM's, maybe that theatre would be worth going back to some time soon.

Scorp, you know we've had many a conversation on that particular subject. It might sound awful but even though I am not there that often (compared to how much some people used to go) HM's does actually have a much better atmosphere these days. It used to be you couldn't go without one of the fanatic brigade being around. There was a couple that got a reputation for themselves and I think that HM's might now actually be one of the only major shows in the WE without borderline lunatics hanging around.

I do sort of agree with your point on people defecting effecting the voting, however I don't really think they'd have made up a huge percentage of say the people who voted last year (where Phantom apparently put up quite a stiff competition against Wicked) would they?

I'm actually just making blanket generalisations for the hell of it. Honestly, I don't actually care much, besides the fact that it shows where the promotional priorities of the producers now lie. The "brilliant original" has minimal publicity and press when you compare it to Wicked or even Les Mis. Phantom already won it in 2002, and unlike Wicked or even Les Mis, it even won the actual Olivier for best musical (i.e. not voted for by the public).

It's that coupled with what I've learned in that nowadays the majority of the phanbase can't be bothered to do anything as strenuous as voting for their favorite show in these award nominations. Rolling Eyes Mad

I find it quite surprising Phantom didn't make it. I thought it was one of the more popular shows, despite the minimal publicity. I thought Les Mis would make the shortlist due to the increased publicity over the last while. I've never got seen Jersey Boys or Billy Elliot. I keep meaning to, but I've never got round to it. I think WWRY is very popular. I was surprised how much I enjoyed it.

Aw...if it's any consolation I voted for Vegas Phantom in those awards like you asked! I'm a good boy.

Since these 'voted for by the public who of course have seen every show out there and can therefore make totally legitimate judgements awards' are all the rage these days, maybe we should set up a 'WorstOnStage' awards ceremony. I know which show I'd vote for to win Worst Book, Worst Lyrics and Best Recycled Score... silent
