Re: Las Vegas Phan week
Anyone knows who was responsible for that fantastic Star Princess costume that appeared in Las Vegas Phantom's Facebook site? It looked absolutely gorgeous!
And "our" gang.... wow. The pics I've seen so far has been most impressive, I think I'm not the only one being jealous...

Re: Las Vegas Phan week
Juicy details coming up...later. Soon, I promise. Right now, I'm so exhausted and depressed that it's over that I don't even know where to start. For now, suffice it to say that this was the greatest week of my life, and that isn't an exaggeration. I'm already counting down the days until next year (because, yes, they are already planning for next year).
As for the girl with the Star Princess costume, her name was Addie. I don't know any more than that, I'm afraid. She popped up like magic in the middle of the ball, was really sweet and had a gorgeous costume, and I never spoke with her other than that night. I do know that she tried to join POL but was unable to because of the lack of a certain administrator, and she wasn't the only person at Fans Week to have had that problem. Hopefully she'll find this forum.
To tide you over until I'm able to post something worthwhile, here's Red Death randomly hanging out in a hotel lobby:

That's just fantastic! really can't tell his costume from the real ones. Amazing. Did any random guests comment on the appearance of Red Death? He-he.
Thank you for the info on the Star Princess costume. Get some rest now, and get back to us with lots of juicy details!!

Re: Las Vegas Phan week
Actually, most of them just took pictures of him (and Lindsey, and even Raphael and I) on the way back to our rooms without asking anything. Apparently the appearance of Red Death doesn't cause as much of a stir in 2009 Las Vegas as it does in 1881 Paris.
Ok, now I'm actually going to bed and not posting any more until I'm more awake. Theoretically.

3 reports from Fans Week: http://bit.ly/Hr4gn and http://bit.ly/e7Ni8 and http://bit.ly/nfvNj
Video report with an interview with Kristen Hertzenberg: http://bit.ly/m6qxS
Re: Las Vegas Phan week
LOL. Notice the dorky redhead with the giant camera around her neck in half the shots of that news report. There's another one here. I should be getting my hands on some footage from that day, so hopefully I can post that somewhere soon.
I still can't get over the fact that my Meg Giry fansite was pimped in the LA Times, or the fact that that man interviewed me directly after interviewing Hal Prince. O_O For the record, I adored Brianne's approach. Best Meg I've ever seen. But she knows that now. ^_^
Ok, now I'm really going to bed. I swear.

Re: Las Vegas Phan week
This is FiddlePhan by the way. I've discovered some other FiddlePhans in other places online so changed my username this time around.
Thank goodness for another forum!!! I was devastated without POL. Well maybe that sounds overly dramatic but I was not a happy camper to say the least.
I was at Fans Week too, sort of. I did attend one show and the workshop with Tony but then took sick and had to get a rush flight home. Sigh. So my Hannibal Costume and I did not make an appearance at the Masquerade after all. Looks like other POL'ers were quite the hit with their costumes though. Way to go!!!
From the little bit that I did get to do though I'd say that for those who didn't get to go this year, if you have the opportunity next year you HAVE to go. It was wonderful sitting in the audience surrounded by so many big phans. There was just such a huge air of excitement everywhere that you went. I was half-expecting a bunch of over zealous, crazy, rabid phans but if they were there, I didn't see that. Everyone was so friendly but at the same time seemed respectful of the performers and one another. It was awesome.
Got to spend some time again with Brianne which is always awesome. Also got to meet Raphael, Phantomgirl, Phantom10906 and Maywood(I think I got her name right). I had met Phantomfett previously. Unfortunately I didn't get to meet Linsdey/PhantomOnABudget. The hosts of the AllThingsPhantom radio show were nice to meet as well. If you haven't listened to their Vegas episode yet, do so now! Andrew Ragone and Brianne call in on that show.
I know who was picked at the Phantom for the makeup session but who was the Christine? Was it anyone from here? How did they end up picking them? While I was checking in for Fans Week, I was one of the ones singled out as a possible Christine. At the same time she was checking a guy to be that Phantom and I just found out that he ended up being the one picked.
I greatly look forward to everyone's trip reports!!!

Re: Las Vegas Phan week
FiddlePhan, I'm so, so sorry you weren't able to stick around for the rest of the events! I am glad we got to meet, though. Are you feeling any better now?
While I was out filming the news report for Fox 5, Yolan Pinter (one of the wardrobe assistants) told me they were scoping everybody out starting right at registration, looking for people who would fit into the costumes, and then they'd just pull a name out of a hat. I was so happy Ashley got it. I was so happy for both of them. It was Jason's birthday, and he got to be the Phantom. How cool is that?
I'm off to start my blogging now, so keep an eye out for details soon...
The girl picked for Christine was my new friend Ashley, which was so cool. I'd only met her the day before, but we connected so well that I burst into tears when I saw her in costume and makeup! She was actually another who'd tried to join POL and couldn't, so I'll send her the link to this forum now.MasqPhan wrote:I know who was picked at the Phantom for the makeup session but who was the Christine? Re: Las Vegas Phan week
Jason Hammond is a performer that ironically I've been listening to on YouTube for a few years. I noticed him standing in the registration line ahead of me so I was surprised to get to meet him. I remember thinking that he should be the one picked to be the Phantom and was glad when I checked his YouTube page and saw that he really did get to do it.

I think Ashley had been standing behind me in line. I saw some pics and they looked great together.

Re: Las Vegas Phan week
I'm sorry you did not get to stay either. Ashley looked adorable done up as Christine. Looking forward to your blogging PG110. This week just came and went so fast.
Re: Las Vegas Phan week
She actually looks like a mixture of Janine Kitzen and Jennifer Hope Wills! They both look great in costume, and what an experience it must have been!MasqPhan wrote:I think Ashley had been standing behind me in line. I saw some pics and they looked great together.
Not too keen on the Vegas deformity, but I can see why it must look as exaggerated as that in the grand Venetian theatre.
Re: Las Vegas Phan week
The deformity does look over the top and even messy up close at time. But from the audience, even from the front row it looks great.

Re: Las Vegas Phan week
OOOOO thay are planning one for next year! Coolies, then maybe then I will be able to go. I'm happy I didn't try to commit to going, even though I live in vegas, because I was incredibly sick all last week (actually for the past 3 weeks and still sick now). But hopefully things can work out better for more fans next year.

Re: Las Vegas Phan week
Oh yes, everyone was talking quite seriously about next year's already. They said they hope it'll get bigger but not too much bigger, so they'll probably cap it around 500 people, with those of us who were there this year (on the ground floor, so to speak) getting a bit of preferential treatment. (Like, if I wasn't entirely sure I'd be able to make it but I was definitely interested, it sounds like they'd be willing to kind of put in a placeholder for me.) Everyone, including all of the cast and the higher-ups, genuinely seemed to have a terrific time. There were many "See you next year!"s exchanged between us all. So start saving!
In other news, I haven't a clue where to start with my blogging/photos/videos. I've tried from several angles today, but I never get very far. I think perhaps I'll have to let things sink in just a bit before I start in on it, to kind of clear my head. Maybe I'll keep posting teaser pictures along the way, if people like it...

Re: Las Vegas Phan week
What about starting with when you arrived in Vegas and give a 'play by play' of the week's events? Just being in Vegas itself for the first time must have been an experience for you.
Loving the photos.

Vegas - Phantom Makeover
I too had a great time at the Phantom fans week. We are going to be taking calls again this coming Saturday at 5 p.m. PST for those who attended and want to share on All Things Phantom.
In addition, Jason Michael Hammond, who was chosen to receive the Phantom makeup makeover will be on the show to talk about what it's like to be transformed into the Phantom of the Opera.

The fans week was a lot of fun for us. We were exhausted by the end, but we enjoyed having everyone there supporting us. Can't wait for next year.

Re: Las Vegas Phan week
That Red Death pic is super amazing. I hope to see it in person next year!!
Here's a little interview with the other "Red Death", Robert Black, from Fans Week.
http://www.reviewjournal.com/media/video/phantom_fan_ball_091709.html?video=1
They are the couple that Tony called the "King and Queen" during his workshop.
They'd done the VIP tour the same night I happened to be there and they'd come in their king and queen costumes from a Vegas Ren Faire. They didn't have a camera and Tony's was broken so I ended up being photographer for them that night. ha ha Nice to see that he recognized/remembered them even out of costume. I didn't even recognize them at first!
